Where should we eat?

I'm pretty sure I want to eat at Blue Bayou. Other than that I am at a loss. I don't want to break the bank. I don't want to spend too much time in restaurants. We'll be there for 2.5 days.

Looks like you will be there in July? So definitely go to the Carnation Cafe! The loaded baked potato soup is to die for! I also love the turkey sandwich on the pretzel bread and they have this sweet peanut butter and jelly pallet for kids! They get to "decorate" their pbnj with mini marshmallows, jelly, and raisins. Neat!

Cafe Orleans is really good too! A lot of people love the monte cristo, but I found it to be too greasy. It hurt my tummy. The pomme frites, however, are insanely delicious! They are fries with a garlic parmesan sort of coating and they have this awesome dipping sauce. I crave those in my sleep...seriously.

And churros...goes without saying really. Churros are a must!

It really depends on what you want. There are lots of good places to eat in DL/DCA. Are you looking for character meals? CS? DTD dining?

Not interested in character dining. I don't want too heavy of a meal since it will be hot and we need to make the most of our time. I'm willing to eat anywhere, park or DTD. Is the atmosphere worth eating at Blue Bayou?

I would say the atmosphere is worth the cost of dining at Blue Bayou. It was SO magical when I got the opportunity to go with my husband last year! Life long dream to go there and it did not disappoint! We had the braised short ribs too and they were really, really good. The potatoes are like crack potatoes! LOL So delicious and addicting! hehe I hear the surf and turf is really good too. You should definitely go if you can!

Oh...I should point out too that if you are looking for light meals, a bunch of the restaurants and counter services all over the park have new yummy sounding salads on their menus too!

We're big corn dog fans, so either the corn dog cart (Main Street), Stage Door Cafe (Frontierland, I believe), or Corn Dog Castle (CA, near GSS) is always a lunch for us. I especially like Stage Door because I can get fries with it!

I love the jalapeno pretzels. I usually buy them from the beer cart in the Pacific Wharf area of CA (I know Bengal BBQ also has them, but they've always been hard when I've gotten them there - like they've been sitting around under a heat lamp all day).

We also like Whitewater snacks in the Grand Californian hotel. Such a nice break from the hustle and bustle in the parks. I enjoy the nachos there.

We also end up doing fast food on Harbor a lot. There's a McDonald's and Quiznos pretty close to the crosswalk. My parents' favorite is the Denny's (adjacent to the parking lot of Desert Inn, which is where we always stay when they're with us).

For me yes, BB is definitely worth the price for the atmosphere. I prefer lunch and usually make an 11:30 reservation for waterside seating.

We like Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA, the Wild Bleu Burger is so good. I get mine with no steak sauce but I load it up with BBQ sauce from the condiment bar. We like the BBQ, we tend to go midday and eat until we are stuffed, then we generally don't eat the rest of the day. We like Cafe Orleans, they have a great ratatouille dish and the gumbo is delish. When we eat there we get the Pomme Frites to share, I order a bowl of gumbo and a small salad and DBF gets the MC, I eat a triangle of his MC and he eats some of my salad and gumbo. Plaza Inn is good, huge portions of chicken, we generally 1 plate of chicken and a side salad and DBF and I are always full! We very much like Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, RFC (we share here as well), HoB in DTD and we also like Joe's Crab Shack, Bubba Gump, Cheesecake Factory, CA Pizza Kitchen and PF Chang's in GW...and I always forget, GW also has a Johnny Rockett's, we love eating there!
