Where should we eat (TS) for our honeymoon?

First things first, this is not only our honeymoon but will also be my first trip (not his) to WDW (or anything remotely like it) so I'm very excited for the entire experience and would love to go to some kick -butt- restaurants to boot :)

We're on the DDP, but since I think V&A is the only restaurant not on it...guess that doesn't matter much :confused3

We're basically looking for places that have a nice atmosphere (a view would be wonderful!) and have *great* food. Our tastes aren't for anything 'below par', we love food and are adventurous with the things that we try. So we definitely are wanting to try some new, and amazing, meals while we're there. We're probably only going to do one signature meal, a suggestion about that would be great as well!

Right now for the signature meal we pretty much have it narrowed down to:
1. Flying Fish
2. Narcoossee
3. California Grill
4. Citricos
5. Yachtsman Steakhouse

Also for information's sake, we want the signature meal to definitely be from a resort restaurant :)

Any ideas for the non-signatures (we're thinking maybe Kona Cafe...?) as well as some help deciding which signature to try?

Thanks so much for any help and insight anyone can give
:grouphug:

Although I don't think there are any tables with views, I definitely recommend Jiko: The Cooking Place inside of the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I'm a total foodie and I loved the amazing African foods. The flavors and presentation were amazing when we visited, and you can't go wrong with good African wine!

I'm excited to see everyone's answers-- we're honeymooning in Disney in June! :)

You mentioned California Grill. We are doing this on the night we get married. It has such an amazing view of the Magic Kingdom and Wishes, the nighttime fireworks display. And the food is amazing. I'd definately do the California grill. Also Narcoosse's has a great view of the fireworks.

The only thing I can say is that since you are going during free dining you may just have to settle for whatever is left. Sad but true. :guilty: I made my reservations for our honeymoon, which begins on Sept 6, in the beginning of April. So my best advice is call TOMORROW MORNING at 7:00 EST. You may get lucky! I hope you get the restaurants you have chosen!

I am also marrying and honeymooning at WDW and this is our first trip too. We have chosen loads of restaurants as we are there for 3 weeks. We are going to Citricos for our wedding lunch and V & A on our wedding night. We also have California Grill booked before the P & P Party, and have Jiko booked twice.
We are also going to Coral Reef (1TS), I have the diver, personalised menu and choc tuxedo strawberries organised. I also have Private Dining booked at The Grand Floridian (not on DDP). Some other 1TS we have booked are, Kona, 'Ohanas, Concourse Steakhouse, Raglan Road, Le Cellier and WPC. I spent ages looking at menus and I decided these were the best options for us. However I think The Yachtsman looks great.

Free dining?
(Edit: Okay, just looked it up and figured out what that is. That sucks...well, for us - not for the people who are doing it lol. I just told my fiance about it and we're not going to be able to do reservations by 7am mostly because we haven't officially decided on restaurants yet. But he said he'll have them reserved soon - hopefully soon enough...and not too late.)

As of now we've made reservations every where we want to each breakfast and lunch wise - and even had a dinner reservation for Cinderella's Table at dinner for the P&P party...
...but we cancelled that and decided that we weren't liking the reviews they had for the food. We also had a reservation at Kona for Monday night (the night we arrive), but changed that as well since we think we're going to get there too late to really do anything.

Thanks for all the help so far!

I suggest Narcoossees for the 2 TS place. it is so good!

we ate at coral reef on our disneymoon and it was really good for1 TS credit. we also love the GF cafe and for a buffet, the crystal palace.

on our next trip we are trying spoodles, too. good luck!

From the placess you have listed, if you want atmpshere and view, then it has to be narcosses, the food is very good.

California Grill is my fav, but it can get noisey and the best view is from outside where ti can get a bit crowded, whereas at Narcosse, if you go to the balcony it is still not too crowded and the atmphsere is better for a Honeymoon.

Yachtsman is great for steaks and service, the atmphsere is very good, but there is not any great view.

I highly recommend Flying Fish. Was glad to see it #1 on your list!

Bistro de Paris is a romantic little place in the France WS above Chefs. It can be very expensive though and tables with a view are hard to come by. It's more "tucked away", but you can get lucky with a window table.

I've never been to Jiko, but it's #1 on my list of places to try. Sounds very interesting. Boma is cool for a casual (but pricey!) buffet meal.

Avoid Fulton's, Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood at all costs.

I've enjoyed all the restaurants on your list. I would put in a recommondation for Jiko, the food is excellent and also Shula's but it's not on the dining plan.

When we honeymooned at WDW in 96 we had a very nice meal at Narcossee's .. we booked it late and saw the light show on the lagoon .. also had a great meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Both ran well over $100 but we had drinks and nice bottle of wine .. etc .. this was all way prior to the meal plan.

I would suggest California Grill. It is truly a magical experience and the food is wonderful!

Citricos.

Enjoyed it more than California Grill. While CG is really great you have to time it right for the fireworks if thats the main reason youre going there. And then theres the almost-over-the-top anticipation---its the CG!! We need the view!! We want fireworks!! Its for your wedding... do Citricos--fantastic food and very nice atmosphere, and you can relax more.

Thanks everyone! Alex looked at some reviews here and together we decided on California Grill for one meal. He called me earlier very excited because he was able to get a ressie at 9:20pm which means that we should be able to go out and watch fireworks as well :). VERY excited about this, I loved their menu.

He's in the other room right now trying to see if he can get a lunch ressie at Ohana, so we'll see how that goes :)

You will be very happy that you chose CG, it will be a very memorable evening!:thumbsup2

Great! We loved the pictures of the restaurant as well as the pictures of the food - that plus the menu made us giddy.

He also just said that we have a reservation at some point (lunch maybe?) at Coral Reef. He just tried to get one at Le Cellier, but they were full for lunch. Man, I'm getting sooo excited about this! September seems so far away!

Edit:
Oh and also said that Ohana didn't have a reservation until around 9, which doesn't work for us (the same night as the p&p party), so we booked Boma. Not sure yet if we'll make that one final, I need to look over the menu again.

My vote for a non-signature TS is definitely Bistro de Paris -- near and dear to my heart since DH and I ate there on our honeymoon, so many "moons" ago.... B/c we had been more concerned about planning the wedding than the details of our trip, we went w/o any ADR's, but it was one place we were able to get a same day ressie at (now, mind you it was 12 yrs ago, but still). I think I read somewhere that the window for ADR's there is 30-days, which means you still have time.

Enjoy and congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!
