We are driving to HHI from WDW this fall. We would like to stop somewhere for an early dinner on the way. I was thinking maybe the greater Savannah area. Any thoughts? We have 2 young boys and no adventurous eaters :)

savannah is marvelous for dining! we go once a year and have never eaten in the same restaurant twice! check out mrs. wilkes - family style buffet; paula deen's lady & sons restaurant is the typical tourist stop - but, honestly, the fried chicken is delicious.

if seafood is your thing, check out this site: http://www.pelicanpointseafood.com/

the atmosphere/ambience is limited but the shrimp and crab stew and crab legs and low country boil items are top notch! the prime rib is not bad, either - but that's not what i go for! i swear you can taste the salt water in the shrimp they are sooo fresh! there is a buffet that spans the length of 2 rooms and the menu says you are limited to dining for an hour and a half [never know it to have been enforced!]! there is a children's menu and reduced price for the jr buffet based on 2 age categories.

pelican point is about half way thru georgia as opposed to savannah being within 45/90 min drive from the resort.

Depends how early....really early dinner or late lunch I'd vote for Dixie Crossroads....not far off 95....don't miss the Rock Shrimp....they have something for everyone.
