So we have decided to buy more points before the March deadline. I am like a kid in a candy store and thought I would ask for some advice! We already own points at AKV. I very much like having all my points in one place and not having to deal with juggling multiple resorts. We love AKV and the concierge option so I have no problem with adding on there. BUT it is tempting to own at a different resort. I am thinking either:

SSR: mostly for the treehouses where I think we might like to stay every few years, proximity to Downtown Disney, lower cost and MFs
BCV: our all-time favorite, but has slightly higher MFs and earlier contract end date

WWYD? And why? Thanks so much!

A. More points at AKV
B. Points at SSR
C. Points at BCV

I would say definitely buy where you want to stay. Sounds like BCV might be a good option for you since you enjoy it and it can be tougher to get into. Good luck!

How many more points? Do you want to stay at BCV during F&W? We own at all 3. We have the fewest in SSR, but yes, it's so we can get the treehouses at least every other year.

If your second contract is roughly the same number of points as your current AKV, then I'd vote for BCV. You can use one contract (with borrowing) one year and bank the other one. If you ever want BCV during challenging times you'll want that home resort advantage. SSR is the easiest to book at any time so I'd vote that last.

If you are doing a relatively small add-on, I'd advise getting more AKV points.

If you can't book an entire trip with your add-on contract (including banking & borrowing options) then I don't see any advantage in buying somewhere else.

General .. If you are okay with splitting resorts (or a similar size to current AK) buy at BC.. (unless you are 100% okay with staying at SSR, which it really sounds like BC is where your heart is.)

1)Make sure same use year so under 7 months you can mix and match points..
2) ....There is limited to no small contracts resale right now. Nearly everything listed at all resorts is pending.. Contracts are nearly all selling on the listing date. Esp if you have an uncommon UY, you will prob end up direct and maybe no rush for you?

Good luck finding one at any of these 3 places with your Use Year. I hope it works out! :wizard:

I am thinking about 160 points so we can stay at Treehouses every other year. Which would be about 100 points less than what we own at AKV now...

I would buy SSR because it is the best value and getting THV at 7 months may be challenging. There are only 60 THV total and I think right now only 30 available for DVC booking. I have had great luck booking non home resorts at 7 months. Good luck with your decision.

Have you had luck getting into BCV ? The only reason that I'm not saying SSR is because you say BCV is your favorite.

Good luck in deciding and in finding that perfect contract! :goodvibes

.....BCV: our all-time favorite, but has slightly higher MFs and earlier contract end date.....

Now that you have made the decision to add-on, stick with your favorite.

If that's your primary reason for buying more points, then SSR is where you should buy. Bottom line it comes down to how you think you will use the points (where and when). Then buy at the resort that would be hardest to get at 7 months for what you primarily want. Good luck. :)

I voted for BCV because of your OP. But now that I have read this comment, I would change my vote to SSR. If you were only planning to stay in a THV every 3 or 4 years, that would be one thing. But every other year....I think you'll need those SSR points.

You may want to include this in your OP so other voters know before they vote. It could change the outcome of the poll.

And CONGRATs on getting more points! :dance3:

We have only stayed at BCV once (last May) but that was the only time I tried and we got it 6 months out. I am leaning towards SSR only because of the treehouses. Is that a bad idea? Guess I need to decide which is more important - having a treehouse or being able to walk to Epcot. Ugh. Decisions, decisions!

But the thing is...you don't have to own at BCV to be able to stay there. True, you might not get in during F&W and other busy times. But it will be an option at other times. Whereas, it sounds like THV is almost impossible to get at 7 months. So it sounds like an easy choice to me.

If you get a 2 bedroom size unit anyway go with SSR, getting a 3rd room for the price of 2 is worth it.

If you usually get a 1 bedroom or studio.. vote for BC.

Yes I think I am starting to see the light!!!

I agree if F&W ect ... aren't your primary reason for BCV you could still stay there -
The tree houses sound like they are a much tougher reservation to get and if that is something you really want you need to buy there -
I did not know for sure where I wanted to add on in the end I added on to my home resort BLT because I would never be disappointed to stay there and If I get a 7 month reservation at BWV or BCV That would be fine too .
My point is I didn't Have to have that location -I would not be terribly disappointed if I didn't get it -You just need to decide what your priority would be for this purchase -
1. To get that vacation booked at BCV at 11 months and be definite about your plans -
2. To have longer stays or bigger rooms for your vacations at AK
3. To have a chance at those tree houses at SS -
What do you really want (will it be important for the next 10 years or more )
Good luck with your decision -

I voted for SSR for multiple reasons, you have the opportunity for the TH's plus longer contract until 2054. Add in lower point costs and lower MF's and it seems like any easy decision. Good luck with your decision and where ever you buy make sure you keep your use year the same so you only have to have one membership card for all your contracts/points. What ever you choose, it is Disney so it will be a good decision!

I would buy at BCV although DVC is buying back most of the ROFR points there. I was stunned to see that half of the BCV contracts are already pending, even the large ones - guess everyone is scrambling.

For our family, SSR is too spread out, regardless of current price. And trying to get the treehouses may a bit challenging, as there are a lot of other SSR owners that likely try and get into the treehouses.

I voted for SSR because of the treehouses and the price.
