Where should I eat at Hollywood Studios?

Reading all the horrible reviews for Hollywood Vine makes me want to change that ADR. :scared1: We need to eat on HS day, where should we go? Needs to be a TS credit for the dining plan. Thanks sooo much!

We ate at 50's PTC and loved it. I had the pot roast and it was delicious. Our waitress wasn't really in to the whole role play thing and didn't play the part of "mom" but the place was cute anyway. It was a little noisy and crowded; not the place for quiet dinner. I saw some things in there though that are still in my mom's house!:rotfl2:

Just called- booked and booked, and oh yeah, Sci Fi is booked too. I guess there are only 5 TS restaurants in MGM, and I have an ADR at one of them, 2 others are booked, Brown Derby is 2 TS, so don't want that..didn't even ask what the 5th one is. Hmmm..Sci Fi and Prime Time sound like the most fun, I guess I will keep trying!

Good luck! Sometimes being flexible with timing helps a lot.

And for what it's worth, if I were in a bind, I'd try for the 1 TS places in this order:

1) 50s Prime Time
2) Mama Melrose's
3) Sci Fi

(Not to give false hopes, but I thought I should mention that two years ago, we were in the same boat and ended up having no problem at all walking in at 11 AM and getting immediately seated at 50s Prime Time without an ADR. So sometimes magic happens!)

if it's all booked, just keep trying. They told me they have hundreds of cancellations each day so you still might be able to get something.

Oh yeah, I will keep trying. I was looking for either a lunch or a dinner at HS for 5 people on August 26th anywhere at those restaurants. :scared1: It's not like I was being picky or anything. Oh well, I will keep trying!

Another suggestion. . . Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk all all about a 10 minute boat ride or a 20 minute walk from DHS. You might try dining at one of the resorts since everything at the park is booked.

It's been two years since I ate there, but the one time we did Hollywood & Vine it was very good. Food on the buffet line was hot, good selection. It was pretty loud and busy, but our waitress was nice and as attentive as she could be. So if you don't find that other ADR, all may not be lost.

My advice is this: anywhere but Hollywood and Vine. If you have to go to a restaurant inside a hotel, so be it. You are a wise person!

I would keep trying for 50's Prime Time or Sci Fi if you want (although we'd go with Mama Melrose, then 50's Prime Time and then Sci-Fi...note Sci-Fi's menu has recently changed and is very limited). I also agree with pp to maybe go to Boardwalk or Beach Club for a meal and then go back to the Studios. I would, if at all possible, skip H&V...we gave it two shots and will never go back (horrible service, filthy conditions and lukewarm, bland food--when there was food out).

Keep in mind you usually hear the "squeaky wheels" on threads like this...the thousands of people who liked a place & had good experiences usually don't post! So, if you can't get in anywhere else, you just might enjoy it anyway. We were kind of wondering when we saw all the bad reviews (after we'd booked it) but decided to try it anyway. We liked Hollywood & Vine...were there in May 2008 (just almost exactly 2 months ago.)

We did not encounter any of the problems people have put in bad reviews of the place...

It was clean, the hot food hot, cold food cold, great variety of everything, foods were constantly re-plenished. Spills cleaned up immediately. De-lish desserts, and the service was good. Check in went smoothly for us. It's a buffet...the food was not gourmet, but it was far better than all family-style national-chain buffets we've been to. I'd put it on par with a really good casino buffet. Yes, it was busy. Yes it was noisy...but no more noisy than any family buffet we've ever gone to anywhere.

Keep trying. Sometimes you can even call the morning of and get what you want. Or stop by the reservation booth at DHS to see what's available. We like 50's PTC. Haven't done MM or H&V. Also like HBD but 2 TS is a stretch for us too.

People do cancel ADRs. We even do it while at WDW.

Ive never had a problem with H&V, i have enjoyed the food there, especially the roast beef, but if you are still keen on changing, keep trying for the ones you are trying for, they are also good.

We love Prime Time:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 and Mamma Melrose :thumbsup2

We had breakfast at H&V and thought it was fine, like a few others said it was buffet food so it was'nt great but it was good for buffet. Breakfast foods are pretty hard to mess up so maybe breakfast is better there than lunch or dinner.

Brown Derby is great- fine dining style. 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci Fi are great, fun atmosphere, but simple food- lots of fun though. Commissary has counter service interesting menu choices. Those are the ones we like.
