we had dinner at Le Chefs -- awesome! DH and I both had the tenderloin and it was great (though DH enjoyed his beef at Le Cel in October 06 better). DS (10) ordered the beef short ribs, but didn't like them so I traded plates with him :sad2: . They were not that good - kind of fatty. For appy, dh got lobster bisque and it was extremely good, DS got the broccoli soup -- not great, too strong a broccoli flavor (you know, when broccoli gets overcooked, that strong flavor?). I had the goat cheese salad and it was delicious.

For dessert, I got the creme brulee, DH got the apple crepe (or something like that) and DS got...hm...I'll have to get back to you. I know from the pictures later that it was something chocolate because it was all over his shirt! All were yummy.

We had lunch at Tutto Italia. My only complaint was that the length of the meal was waaaaaaaay longer than I wanted. Our server was not the most attentive and didn't take our order for entrees until well AFTER we were finished eating our appetizers. The portions are so large, also, that we were unable to finish our entrees...but we HAD to try desert. For appy, DH got the mussels - they were awesome, and DD helped him eat them; DS got procutto di parma -- ate the melon but didn't seem to like the procutto (I thought it was very tasty), I had the Mozzerella/Tomato plate;DD got the fried mozzerella. For entrees, DH got the braised pork shank and it was very good, I had the tagliatelle bolognese and it was very good too (though I like the bolognese better here) and DS got the spagetti with clams. He seemed to enjoy this -- I didn't taste it, but he did pretty well eating it. For desert, DH got the chocolate panna cotta and OMGosh was that the best! Probably the best desert we had anywhere. DS got profiteroles and seemed to enjoy them -- shared with DD who declined to order anything after appetizers. I got the cannoli and having no experience in eating cannoli before, can't compare to other cannoli, but didn't really like it. It MAY be just how they are supposed to be, but I didn't like the flavor of the filling.

Anyway - that's our recent dining experience.

Although I voted for Le Cellier, and it is still my fav., I have to give a plug to Coral Reef. I hate seafood, so I was kinda iffy about dining there. But we loved it. It turned out to be our best meal of the trip. The ambiance was nice, server was awesome, and the food was great. I'll be back!

We're big fans of Chefs de France for lunch - great menu and very tasty food. I love to order their quiche for lunch - yummy!

Some day you will have to try Bistro, but you'd have to do dinner there since they don't serve lunch. It's pricey but well worth the money. :thumbsup2

Biergarten is one of our favorites for sure!

I know a lot of restaurants get hyped here and some live up to it and some IMHO don't. Le Cellier is the one that goes beyond the hype. The food is awesome. I have been there three times and it keeps getting better and better. It is the one restaurant I have to do on every trip.

Garden Grill is #1 for its:

1) food (family-style all you can eat)
2) character dining
3) revolving restaurant
4) ambience (relaxed booth seating looking out in Living with the Land)
5) location (same building as Soarin' and Living with the Land)

We love LeCellier! The Mushroom Fillet is amazing

My favorite lunch choice is quite different from my dinner choices.

I voted for San Angle Inn for a reason. The atmosphere is supposed to be reminiscent of a night in a Mexican Town square. My family thinks it is really cool to have a "outside, night-time" lunch inside at noon. Very unique to Disney. We book an early ADR and have always gotten a table next to the water upon request.

I don't do Garden Grill and Coral Reef because I want to be in the WS at opening. Walk for an hour or so, have lunch in WS.

You're already doing Le Cellier, also a good choice.

Beirgarten is my second choice for lunch. Not as crowded so you are less likely to share a table if you choose not to, lower price (not an issue for you but maybe for others) yet almost identical to dinner, sans the sauerbrauten. I never make red cabbage or schnitzel or even spaetzle (though I can do it) at home, so I enjoy them here.

Rose and Crown, frankly, the best thing there is the fish and chips and IMHO better at CS and you won't waste time doing a TS when you don't need to. With the exception of the pie sampler there isn't much unique to the restaurant.

Japan, I haven't eaten lunch but the reviews are boiled down to not as good as Benihana. Since I don't need the novelty of either Sushi or Hibachi, I take a pass at this one tool.

I haven't eaten lunch at the new Tutto yet so I can't comment other to say Italian food is well represented where I live and my MIL is Italian. 'nuf said.

Le Chef's lunch menu is pretty limited although I do go there for lunch it isn't in the top three. It is number 4 to be exact. The flat bread with bacon and onions and creme freche is a nice size for lunch although it is listed as an appetizer, same with the wild mushroom.

Marrakesh, the food is better at Tangerine's IMHO and since there isn't a middle eastern eatery in my area, I try to fit either place in and my kids love the novelty of the belly dancer.

Nine Dragon's the hole in the wall next to the gym has better food.

Askersus I had lunch in prior to it becoming a character meal and since we've done the breakfast's with the princesses since.

My thought with dining out and rules for ordering are very simple. If I don't make it, couldn't make it, and want the chef to earn his keep I order it. I am on an adventure and want something unique I can not get or make at home. So our lunch choices are San Angel Inn, Beirgarten and Marrekesh are my top three choices in that order.

I just wanted to add that Marrekesh's interior is very unique and beautiful. I've never been in anything like it. In fact if anyone out there knows of a beautiful upscale Middle Eastern restaurant in Manhattan, I'll take the reccomendation!

I loved everything about Le Cellier. The food was excellent, especially the potatoes!! The service was above and beyond...our waiter even had his brother (also a waiter) make my daughter a rose out of foil...very talented!! Great atmospher. The tables a little close together, but we made small talk with the couple next to us and made our night even better!!
