we had dinner at Le Chefs -- awesome! DH and I both had the tenderloin and it was great (though DH enjoyed his beef at Le Cel in October 06 better). DS (10) ordered the beef short ribs, but didn't like them so I traded plates with him
. They were not that good - kind of fatty. For appy, dh got lobster bisque and it was extremely good, DS got the broccoli soup -- not great, too strong a broccoli flavor (you know, when broccoli gets overcooked, that strong flavor?). I had the goat cheese salad and it was delicious.
For dessert, I got the creme brulee, DH got the apple crepe (or something like that) and DS got...hm...I'll have to get back to you. I know from the pictures later that it was something chocolate because it was all over his shirt! All were yummy.
We had lunch at Tutto Italia. My only complaint was that the length of the meal was waaaaaaaay longer than I wanted. Our server was not the most attentive and didn't take our order for entrees until well AFTER we were finished eating our appetizers. The portions are so large, also, that we were unable to finish our entrees...but we HAD to try desert. For appy, DH got the mussels - they were awesome, and DD helped him eat them; DS got procutto di parma -- ate the melon but didn't seem to like the procutto (I thought it was very tasty), I had the Mozzerella/Tomato plate;DD got the fried mozzerella. For entrees, DH got the braised pork shank and it was very good, I had the tagliatelle bolognese and it was very good too (though I like the bolognese better here) and DS got the spagetti with clams. He seemed to enjoy this -- I didn't taste it, but he did pretty well eating it. For desert, DH got the chocolate panna cotta and OMGosh was that the best! Probably the best desert we had anywhere. DS got profiteroles and seemed to enjoy them -- shared with DD who declined to order anything after appetizers. I got the cannoli and having no experience in eating cannoli before, can't compare to other cannoli, but didn't really like it. It MAY be just how they are supposed to be, but I didn't like the flavor of the filling.
Anyway - that's our recent dining experience.
