What has happened to the doodlebops, Johnny & the sprites, Higgleytown Heros, The wiggles etc? I was hoping after summer they would be back.

I heard the Doodlebops were supposed to be coming back early next year but they are going to be animated.

Those shows haven't been on in ages. My DD is nearly 2 and I can't remember them ever being on since she has been born.

Higleytown (which I LOATHE) started when my now 8 year old was still watching Playhouse Disney. Wiggles were full force when he was 2 and 3.

These shows were all on in the spring. I watch my grandkids 4 days a week and during the school year Disney is on the entire day. I have sat through the Doodlebops, my DGS's favorite show, the Wiggles and Higglytown. I knew it was bad when I started seeing the shows in my sleep. I hate the teen programs, they are not what I want my preschool grandkids to watch.

They weren't on my Disney channel this past spring. My DD watches every morning while my DS got ready for school.

Here the teen type programs don't come on until noon time.

We get:
Little Einstein's
Tigger and Pooh
Special Agent Oso (which replaced more Little Einstein's in May or so)
Imagination Movers
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Handy Manny

My dd has missed the Wiggles! It was on this past Spring, but Higglytown has been off for a while in our area.

Lately we have been watching PBS kids, just because Disney does not have any shows she likes anymore. I think PBS has better programming. My dd likes Curious George and Super Why.

Disney channel has really gone down hill for childrens programming. With the exception of Little Einsteins and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, we don't even watch anymore. I miss Bear in the Big Blue House, Stanley, Rolie Polie Olie, PB&J Otter, etc.

Fortunately there is Noggin, PBS Kids, and Nick Jr.

I'll have to do some checking, but I seem to recall the Higglytown Heroes had the series finale at the end of season three, and I think Johnny and the Sprites got canned after only one season. I've heard Doodlebops will be back, but hadn't heard about them being animated.

I don't recall if they were on in the spring here, but I know they were on last year at this time.

I think it all depends on the age your child is when Playhouse Disney is all the rage. We have only ever known Handy Manny, MM Clubhouse, ect. I think they are fabulous and would be sad if they were replaced. I probably would have felt the same if my child had been into the previous shows.

What happened to House of Mouse??? I miss HoM!!!!! My DDs would be asking for Suite Life, Hannah Montana, but if I saw HoM on, thats what we would watch. I miss it!

MY dd is 3 and we watched them all here in western MA up until summer - I was hoping they only went off because school age kids were home and they wanted programs for them to watch as well - but school is in and they are not back yet. I do not let them (& DD 5) watch finneas & ferb, zach & cody, Hannah etc - they are not for young children Seems like we will not be wacthing the disney channel anymore - we can only take the same reruns of MMclubouse & the little einsteins for so long

Got me why they were still on there? Playhouse Disney has ended around 10 or 11 am for as long as I can remember.

All I can think of is that maybe they put the older non-HD shows on your cable system and when the upgrade happened and everyone had to go digital you got the more current programs?

After SAHDad posted, I got curious and looked at IMDB. He was correct that Higleytown had 3 seasons starting in 2004. Same with the Doodlebops.

I've never heard of Johnny & the sprites :confused3.

My 8 year old watched the shows coliebird mentioned. And like BellaSoleil mentioned they've always changed programming regularly and it all depends on what your kids watched when they were 2-4ish.

There are more shows than Einstein's and MMClubhouse. But you are obviously not happy so nothing any of us say will matter.

not a matter if I'mhappy or not, it's what my kids like. And even at a young age They know what they like! ;) I am glad we still have a few of each on our DVR.
We not only got those shows once but twice a day on TWO different channels YUP four imes a day EACH. which puzzled me but a couple people said one was an east coast boradcast and one was a west coast broadcast we have HD Direct TV and have channel 290 and 291 and they air the same shows just one a few hrs later than the other. I alwyas thought it had something to do with HD since one was broadcast in HD and one wasnt. We do get all the others you mentioned but they never took to any of them like the others - If we dont wacth them they never ask for them - luckily they have oth3er goodoptions that were mentioned like Nik Jr PBS and Noggin - I did love the great things they had on theri website for the other shows though, like the coloring pages etc- those I do miss :(

I have to say I dont even know what House of Mouse is. Was it a show on the disney channel?

My sister has DirectTV and yes, she gets the "East Coast" and "West Coast" feeds of Disney Channel. The point of having East Coast/West Coast is so they can run the same block of programming during the same hours of the day, even with the time difference. (Otherwise, you'd have the Playhouse Disney block starting at 3:30 am on the West Coast, the 7 pm "prime time" show on the East coast running at 4 pm in the West, etc.)

I don't have kids, so I'm no authority on what they like, but, as a big kid at heart, I love Imagination Movers, and have more recently gotten hooked on Handy Manny, which is really cute.

Wow, it's so interesting to hear about today's children's shows. I grew up with Disney Channel and Nickleodeon but I watched things like Dinosaurs, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Family Feud, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, House of Mouse, Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, etc. I guess those aren't really preschool aged shows but they sure do beat most of the kids/teen programs on TV today!!

OP- I hope your kids favroite shows come back!!
