Where Pixie-Dusted Birthday Dreams Come True! A July Trip Report! PTR Link! Pg. 116

party: Happy Birthday!!!!

I've been swamped lately and I'm just catching up with my favorite PTR's/TR's. I was worried that your TR might be wrapping up.:scared: Thankfully, we're no further than Adventureland...whew!!!:woohoo:

Stopping for fudge, now that is my type of family!!!

No trip to Disney World is complete without it!

The look on Connor's face is priceless, for a brave adventurer going on the Jungle Cruise he might have just mastered the right look! He's a tour guide in training already!!!

 Funny you should say that. I am always telling Connor he should do the College Program and be a Jungle Cruise skipper -- I also push the idea of becoming an Imagineer. ;)

Glad the pirates decided not to keep you, should of kept the Brazilian tour groups instead LOL!!

Great way to start my morning! Thanks Jackie!

:lmao: The pirates might get tired of their chanting very quickly.

I would feel so much safer knowing Connor and his weapons were coming along. :thumbsup2

I do!

Brooklynn and I enjoyed the Tiki Room just a couple of weeks ago. Oh, how I wanted to jump back into your pictures and be back there again to roam Adventureland and to watch her face as she takes everything in.

Me too! I need a Disney trip in a huge way!

Have I said how much I love Disney World???
And when I am not there, I really, really love seeing all the pictures. :)
Thanks for starting my Conference Day off with some Adventureland fun.

That's the way I feel, too, when I look at everyone's pictures!

The chanting tour groups - I really wish they would make some hard and fast rules for them. Why do they have to do all that yelling? That can be saved for when they get home. It really is annoying.

It is -- I didn't mind the ones who were behaving at all.

All caught up. Such fun! I must say I have never really noticed the tour groups as much as I did. Seems their "season" is expanding. :scared1: I also heard lots of other guests commenting on them and their behavior. I would think at some point Disney will have to find a way to manage it better.

No kidding -- it is possible to have fun without behaving badly!

I love Adventureland too! 30 min for HM... wow. Were the grave sites on the way in still open when you are there? They are boarded up now and I guess they are working on some new queue elements. Can't wait to see what they come up with!

The grave sites were open when we were there. I didn't realize they were changing the queue. I hope they keep the original feel. I am a Haunted Mansion purist. LOL!

I am a big fan of naps and pooltime back at the resort... we don't want Connor's brain addled any further!! ;)

Exactly -- that could be disastrous!

Great Update !!I too love the corny jokes ion JC !!! POTC is a fav. of mine !!!

Thanks! I love all the rides in Adventureland.

What a nice surprise to see another update this morning. Loved it! :flower3:

I am really feeling the need to finish up this TR -- I feel like it has been dragging on forever!

first, you got some really stellar pictures of adventureland. I honestly never take many pictures there, so its clear that I have been missing many photo ops.

I usually don't take many pictures at all in the Magic Kingdom so I tried to fix that on this trip!

At least Chelsea gets the back side of your head, not your @ss. That's why I started taking the camera away from Denny. :rotfl:

LOL! This is true -- I would much rather have back of the head photos.

Connor's expression in that last pictures is priceless!

He cracks me up!

Keep your hands to yourself if you want to keep them = a new line for mother's everywhere. :lmao:

Undoubtedly! LOL!

Watch out for those camels, they spit. ;)

Of course my two always want to stand there and get spit on over and over. LOL!

I love Adventureland. Love, love, love it. Therefore, I love this post. And that you topped off the whole experience by getting fudge on the way out of the park. That's just perfection right there. :thumbsup2

Adventureland has always been my favorite place in all of the Magic Kingdom! :lovestruc

I think Connor has the best facial expressions in his pictures. He always reminds me of my nieces in them. I think they'd be dangerous if they got together. :rotfl:

Can you imagine the fun we would have taking pictures of them together??? ::yes::

I really love that your family embraces the cheesy, silly aspects of Disney!

It really shows our sense of humor. LOL!

Crystal Palace looked so fun. It always looks so refreshing in there. I know it is a nice cool place to rest but I guess because it isn't dark like a lot of places it doesn't make me want to fall asleep. I just listened to Lou Mongello's Audioguide to Main Street and Adventureland and he talks about how the theming of Main Street transitions to Adventureland as you wrap around the building. I can't wait to investigate that myself.

I will have to pay attention to that next time!

Looks like you and the kids had a great time on your adventureland rides. I'm just going to say this:I really think Brazil should get the next Disney park not China. There are always so many Brazilians. Everyone I talk to--no matter the time of year--says the same thing. I think there must be a big market there.

A Brazillian Disney park would be really neat! You may be onto something there!

Connor cracks me up with all his poses:rotfl: He is quite the actor!!

Yes, he is! LOL!

Love all your pics of Adventure Land. I wish I was there right now.

Me too! I could really use an escape to the summer heat there -- it is so cold here this morning.

Tiki Room has a special place in my heart as that is the very first attraction we went to on our very first trip in 1999.

Ah! What a great memory!

Breakfast is the only meal we haven't eaten at CP so I'm interested in trying that next time. Glad to hear it was yummy! Character meals are the only times my kiddos really like to pose with them as well. That means they are getting older, doesn't it? :(

Sadly, yes. :(

Does it work well for Charles to just head out when he is getting cranky? My husband has never came on a trip with us but is contemplating it for October. I'm worried about the crankiness too. I'd love any advice Jackie!

After as many trips as we have taken, Charles knows his breaking point and sometimes it is just best if he heads back without us. Otherwise, he is a complete bear.

Sorry the tour group was so loud. We had a few cheerleading groups like that on our last trip.

Why kids think screaming and chanting are so much fun is beyond me. :sad2:

After reading your update, I think Adventureland is my favorite land at the MK. We love Cheesy too. I know a lot of people don't like the Tikki Room but we do. Love the corny jokes on Jungle Cruise and we have to ride Pirates at least twice each trip.

We definitely enjoy the Tiki Room, but I would be fine with Iago going away.

Sorry about the tour groups. It was best that Charles got out when he did.

Yes, he has no patience with misbehaving children.

Did Connor end up with any weapons by the end of the trip?

Surprisingly this was the first trip EVER that Connor didn't come home with some weapons from WDW. Legos were his souvenir of choice.

Connor continues to crack me up with his poses...he's a natural!

He is always game for a funny picture.

gh...the tour groups...can't believe the CM actually lost her cool!

I was so shocked. Of course, it might have been the last straw for her -- she may have been listening to chanting tour groups all morning.

I want that sign for my classroom too! :rotfl2:

Kids seem to have a problem keeping their hands to themselves. :sad2:

That's awesome that the CM stepped up and said what so many of us have wanted to say over the years!! It's just not fair that a small group of people make a large group of people uncomfortable!

Exactly! I was just surprised because I have never heard a CM being "mean" before.

Great update Jackie! I love the foreshadowing - you can see Charles getting a little cranky! ;)

I was a bit perturbed at that picture because it would have been a cute one of the two of us had Charles even pretended to smile.

Do you know I have never gone to the Tiki Room? My daughters' dance studio did a number to the theme song a couple years ago for recital, but that's as close as I've come!

You should visit it at least once. It's a cute little show.

Great updates. Thanks for including Iago's name. We have the 4 parks CD and Cayley always asks me what the rude birdie's name is and I could not remember!

Yep, Iago is the one with no manners. LOL!

I can always count on Connor for a chuckle!

Fudge sounds delicious!

Connor is such a ham! LOL!

Disney fudge is the BEST!

You are going to convert Charles into a Disney lover yet! That story about the haircut was cute. He got a sticker! LOL I don't blame him for heading out after seeing the line. We haven't had to deal with tour groups on our last 2 trips, but I remember them from other trips. Tour groups are one of those Disney Nightmares! I hope you only got stuck behind them once on this trip. Oh, and the "Brave Adventurer" face? Too cute!

I hope Charles' Disney love sticks. He can be fickle. LOL!

It was our first experience with tour groups, and I really hope it is our last.

Fun Adventureland update!! I haven't run across any of those loud tour groups yet, and it sounds like I'm lucky!! That would drive me crazy & my DH even more crazy!!

Really, overall, we were pretty lucky. They were in every park that we visited, but Pirates was the only time we were stuck with them in line. Once was enough!

I noticed the boarded up cemetery at HM too :sad1:
Ughhh those BTGs!!! I think I would have lost it in the queue for POTC if they were echoing like that:furious: Maybe that is what Connor was secretly looking for in the weapons....a way to quiet them ;)

:lmao: That could very well have been what Connor was doing!

Well....Charles lasted awhile....he must have needed a nap after his grooming :)
That summer Florida heat can be brutal so a nap or the pool is a nice respite :goodvibes

Tracy

The heat does just suck out all of a person's energy. However, I would gladly trade it for the 29 degrees we have here this morning. I hate being cold!

Ahhhh Adventureland. How I love thee. The Tiki birds a favorite from my first trip ever. The Jungle Cruise, I love the corny jokes. I love when you get a great CM. I was lucky and got Richard the last time not once, but twice. The first time the whole boat was into it too, so it was great, the second time, same funny CM, but a boat of duds. Pirates, playing where's Johnny Depp is a great game. The treehouse has been skipped many times and if it is hot, no way am I making that trek. The flying carpets, the newest of the bunch and the spitting camel always good and not nearly the crowd of Dumbo.

Yes, a great boat of people can make the Jungle Cruise that much more fun! We do tend to skip the Treehouse on hot days -- it wears me out climbing all the way up there.

Yes, I could see Charles getting cranky. Glad he could put himself in timeout before it got bad. :lmao:

Oh, yes, Cranky Charles is not fun to be around.

Swimming time- no better way to spend a hot Florida summer afternoon.

Exactly! It can make all the difference for the rest of the day!

I can't say as I blame Charles. WDW will never see me in the summer and if it did, with crowds and tour groups added in, I probably wouldn't have lasted as long as he did. ;)

The summer doesn't bother us too much, but the crowds can be daunting.

I say good for that CM to tell them to hush it! :thumbsup2

It was very unexpected. She had obviously had enough.

I I keep forgetting about the Enchanted Tiki Room. It's another attraction that I've never done.

It's cute and worth a visit in my opinion.

Fudge from the Main Street Confectionary would be great for dessert right about now!

I keep seeing all these pictures of Pumpkin Fudge from the Confectionary and would really like a piece. LOL!

Gotta love singing tiki statues and a cruise through the jungle. I miss the Magic Kingdom :sad1:

Two of my favorite things! :lovestruc

We're going May 31-June 8! We MUST meet up this time because being in the World at the same time twice and not meeting up is just unacceptable

I agree! If we are there the end of May next year, we must meet up! Then, I won't be reduced to looking at your crowd pictures to see if we are in them. Ha ha ha!

Great update! We totally enjoy the Jungle Cruise and the corny humor too! PoC is always excellent to ride in the heat we were experiencing! Definitely sounds like a wonderful afternoon in Adventureland :goodvibes

Air-conditioning attractions were worth their weight in gold on that trip! ::yes::

Nice you got so much done in Adventureland! Too bad Charles missed out. When we visit another country with different customs, we are clued in as to acceptable behavior. Maybe when they invite the tour groups, they could verse them in a little etiquette? :confused3 That group sounded so annoying! I'm glad the CM took care of it!

I agree! I do think there should be a some sort of training for the groups about what they should and shouldn't do.

Look at you updating again so quickly!

It's a good thing I did it when I did because the rest of the week turned out to be C-R-A-Z-Y!

I hardly recognize Charles with his short hair, I like it though - looks good! :thumbsup2 I also have to say that I totally understand him wanting to bail while standing in line with a BTG, ugggg, they are so annoying!

He was so much happier in that heat with shorter hair.

I wonder if that CM had tried to quiet them down but they wouldn't - so she resorted to what would work! I have to support her in that, the chanting would be SO annoying echoing in there!

And it was -- those stone walls made the chanting ten times louder.

Love the pic of Connor being a brave adventurer! :rotfl:

My little ham!

Great update! I love the picture of Connor! That should definitely go in some short of graduation/jwedding slideshow down the road!

Thanks! I agree! I have a feeling there will be lots of Disney pictures in slideshows later in life.

Good to hear that the CM said something! I am fine with people having fun, but when it ruins the atmosphere and magic for everyone else, I draw the line!

Yes, kids chanting loudly takes away a lot of the magic of the Pirates line.

Great pictures from CP! I love Chelsea's KS tank top. I think Mitch would of been out too once he saw those tour groups. I just love the Jungle Cruise!

Charles had no desire to stand in line at that point so off he went.

I lost your report for a while, but I am all caught up now. I love CP for breakfast, we try to do that on each of our trips. I  Pooh Bear.

We hadn't done CP since 2004, and it was just as delicious as we remembered.

I have never seen the Tiki Birds. I want to try it one day. My favorite movie is Aladdin and I love Iago, so I think I would like it.

Aladdin is one of my favorite movies! Love Robin Williams as the Genie! You should visit the Tiki Birds! They are very cute!

Oh my gosh Jackie-We are going from May 22 to May 29th. If you go then we will HAVE to meet up on the 27th or 28th. May 22 at Universal & 23rd-29th Disney.

Meeting up would be a lot of fun! We are still undecided about dates -- we may just do the Christmas trip next year, but that seems a long way away.

I got a PIN from Disney a few weeks ago for 30% off a Moderate (except for POFQ only 15% off):confused3. Just our luck we stay at POFQ. I don't get why only 15% at that one. I have not booked yet but will be soon as I will need to make ADR's on the 23rd of THIS month!!

I received that pin, too. Once in my school email, once in my home email, and once through regular mail. I think Disney really wants me to come back. LOL!

Hiya Jackie! :wave2:

I just got caught up on your MK posts, and enjoyed touring through adventure land with you! Sounds like Charles had the right idea, too, gotta get that break in before the breaking point. And glad you guys headed back to the resort to get that second wind! :thumbsup2

Oh, yes, we had hit that point where it was too hot and too crowded to enjoy ourselves. A nap was in order!

Looks like brunch was a success! It work for us every time! :goodvibes

Very successful!!!

Can't wait to tell you all about Disneyland!!

I am also looking forward to hearing about Legoland -- you were planning on going there, too, right?

Thank you for all my wonderful birthday wishes!!! It was a great day! My co-workers brought in a red velvet cake with Mickey decorations at lunch! It was so cute and so delicious! They also gave me a Mickey t-shirt that I will definitely enjoy wearing! I have spent most of the weekend eating cake! It will be hard going back to the "real world" of work tomorrow.

Booo to the real world!! YAY for cake!! RedVelvet cake I'm so jealous Jackie!!!

Cake all weekend sounds great!
It would be nice if it were a long weekend. I don't want to go back to work tomorrow. Just one more day, I need just one more day.

Thank you, Mary Ellen! I accept birthday wishes all month!

My co-workers did a red velvet cake for me for my birthday. My parents did an Italian Cream Cake for me, too. Needless to say, I ate cake all weekend long and was quite happy to do so! :goodvibes

July 21, 2010: Part Four

After our naps, we decided to head towards Old Port Royal. Connor had an arcade card that was burning a hole in his pocket. It was a relaxing little stroll across the bridge and island.

Charles, Chelsea, and Connor headed straight here for some fun.

372.jpg

I went browsing through the gift shops.

It was nearing dinnertime, so we opted to eat at the food court before heading back to the Magic Kingdom. Everyone ordered burgers and fries.

What should dessert be?

Yes, it was time to indulge in Mickey Bars!

195-1.jpg

I had one, but there is no picture to prove it.

Charles had one.

373-1.jpg

Chelsea had one.

375-1.jpg

And Connor had one. Chelsea and I decided to document Connor’s experience with his Mickey Bar.

374.jpg

Someone was being silly.

Bellies full and completely relaxed it was time to head back to the Magic Kingdom! Connor was ready and raring to go!

UP NEXT: An evening full of magic!

I love Mickey Bars! They are my favorite Disney snack.

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday.:sad2: We need to be friends on facebook so I can keep up with those things. My birthday is this month too. November rocks!

The warmth from those pictures is a far cry from my day of ice on the windshield this morning and no heat at school. They got it fixed around 1:30, but until then, it was so cold!

Wonder what the temp was at Caribbean Beach today? :cool2:

Ah, the Mickey Bar! CBR is the first place my family every had them! Memories...looks like Connor enjoyed his!

CBR looks so relaxing. I want to try it soon.
Mickey bars are the perfect dessert. I wish I had some in my freezer.
