Is there a map that shows where the parking garage is located? I am trying to visualize it and can't! Just trying to figure out how long it will take to get from point A (where we park) to point B (park entrance).Thanks.

It's quite a walk in my opinion. Probably takes about 10 minutes. It is not on the map, but it is below City Walk if you look at the map of the resort.

I agree, it is probably about a 10 minute walk from the car to entrance area.

Now that I looked harder, there is 3 hotels on the southside(as far as the map shows).I know two of them are RPR,but the third. Can it be true what I have been saying for two years A fourth resort??

During the 90s, Universal wanted to build a mega resort after the sucess of USF and those were the first plans they started publishing. When they had something to show, there was an exhibit at the studios (where the Macy's is at the NY section of the park) showing all kinds of models and renderings of the entire resort.

They designed the resort to have five hotels. I hope they build the remaining ones some day

Yes, I LOVED the IOA preview center.

I also like how the model posted above shows my high school at the bottom, Dr. Phillips!

Wow, just the kind of pics I was looking for. Thanks Don.
I didn't realize US and IOA are literally next to each other. AND...by the looks of it, there must be some sort of bridge to take you from the parking garage and the parks? are there trams?

There are no trams because there really isn't much room. There are moving sidewalks though.

You can get even nicer pics by going to Bing Maps
http://www.bing.com/maps/?FORM=ZZLH9

In the search box, type-in: "Universal Studios, Orlando, FL". Pan and/or zoom to the right and you'll see the two multi-deck parking garages (between City Walk and S. Kirkman Road). Click on Aerial View for a nice aerial shot and check out the Bird's-eye Views.

This was amazing! So clear! Thanks for posting the link. :cool1:

The beauty of Universal is that everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is within a few minutes walk, that includes the parks, hotels and Citywalk right in the middle. There's also boats to the resorts as well, if you don't want to walk the entire way.

Ironically when I went to DL I found they were set up pretty similar, just things a bit laid out differently

The parking garage is the most sophisticated I've ever seen. Disney is so far behind in parking issues. There are so many advantages, for instance, your car is covered (protected) and you can leave in the car things without getting damaged (such as a laptop) by the sun, storms, etc.

We usually drive up to Universal via Turkey Lake Rd and the lot you're talking about is being used for what looks like storage of some sort. It's very interesting to see that it was originally planned as more hotel space.

They definitely are a blessing when exiting with tired feet and you have to go to the furthest spot in the parking garage :rotfl: You'll find that going into the park everyone is walking on the moving sidewalks and when exiting, standing.

Coming from a WDW freak of 20 years who has for the last 13 years gone to HHN every year and claimed it "my favorite night of the year" also will admit that the parking garage is the one thing that beats out Disney....but you can't compare the parking, for I was there at Universal Studios in 1989 when we had a Pre-opening!!! Not much was open, but I still have my ticket!!

I agree...I would much rather walk into a relately cool car in the garage instead of a car that's been baking in our Florida sun...especially in the summer.

I have had the misfortune of going late on A very busy day and got to park on the roof. But that only happend once.

I've gone so many hundreds of times from the time the parking garages and IOA have been built that I started thinking about the parking before the garages were built. It's been so long I barely remember what the parking looked like,I remember seeing the old Hard Rock but not much else, does anyone have pics of the parking before 1999.

I've been going since 91 or 92 and have no pics of the parking lot back then.I do remember it resembling SW or BG with trams.
