We are heading down next week and renting a car. Where is the best place to refill the tank before dropping off the car at the airport? We're staying a VWL.

hess or walmart over on 535 - then if you want there should be a station close to where you leave the car.

this hess is cheaper than the one on WDW property.

I looked on Google and the only Hess station they show in the immediate area is on the WDW grounds? Can you provide directions please?

There are two Hess stations on WDW property. One near DTD and one near the Boardwalk.

I always stop at the one on the way out of WDW, near the AAA car center. I stay at the Contemporary and it is easy in/out. Last time I was there, it was closed for refurbishment so I am assuming it is still there. I found that the prices were not that far out of line as the ones near DTD>

Locals even go to the Hess on Disney Property for their cheap gas.
That's your easiest and best bet.

Hess has the best fuel prices, even the ones on property.

The Hess stations are the one thing about WDW that is affordable :goodvibes
(Usually cheaper than home has been lately)

On our last trip in October - we noticed that the Hess stations on property were equal or lower than most anything we saw in the area. Once we topped off the tank before entering wdw property and were sad to see that we paid way more than we would have paid at Hess. Go figure!

I think you were caught in the end of the hurricane induced East coast fuel shortage/price increase (End of Sept there was hardly any operational gas stations around Atlanta. I had to get gas about 50 miles north on my way thru) In Oct, prices were dropping most of the month so fuel after a trip would be lower..

from VWL - turn left out of WL - you are going toward fw - at the next traffic light (it will be a while) turn right - go pass POR and POFQ - turn left on Disney vacation club way (going pass OKW and SSR) - when this road deadend turn right - go to the next traffic light and turn left (real traffic light not the fire station one) in front of DD - when this road deadends (there is a mall across the street) - turn right - you are now on 535 - apopeka/vineland road -

you will be on this road for a couple of miles - (be careful this road gets smaller - so be prepare for others to come over) - Hess will be on your right - and kinda of behind it will be Walmart.

walmart can have cheaper gas - if you play their game. you go inside and get one of their pre paid cards. just make sure you can average your gas pretty accurately. you get I think 5 cents off their price with this card. Check to be sure.

that say prefer Hess. This station is generally about 5 cents cheaper than the ones at WDW. There was once when it was 10 cents cheaper but I think that doesn't happen often.

now if this to much trouble - just go to the Hess stations at Disney - there in one across from BWV and once across from DD.

for some reason the Hess near the MK had higher prices than the other two. Not sure why - or if it still does?

Spiceycat's directions will get you there, but there's another way to get to 535 that's a little easier.

From VWL - turn left out of WL - you are going toward Fort Wilderness. Continue straight until the road ends at a "T" type intersection. Turn Left and drive past the WDW warehouses. Go to the Traffic Light (another "T" intersection). Turn Right. Follow the road to the main traffic intersection. (It'll be the 2nd traffic light you come to, the first one only goes into a hotel area). Turn Right. You're on 535 and follow the rest of the directions Spicey gave.
