In your opinion what is the best gourmet quality restaurant in the WDW area? (Including the resorts and the parks)

Based solely on food quality and taste.

DDE, Price and Dining credits don't matter.

Bluezoo? Cali Grill? Le Cellier? Anything else?

Thanks!

After eating at Victoria and Alberts....there is nothing that even comes close. I have been to WDW about 30 times and finally ate there. It was an incredible experience.

I'd say Spoodles. I disagree with the poster who said Flying Fish. The Yachtsman is nice also. A lot of the big name must-do ones are a little overrated.

I may be small, but I'm a foodaholic and I think sometimes I live to eat. Well, maybe it's really not quite that bad. :rotfl: That being said, my family and I frequent:

Le Cellier
Nine Dragons
Cape May
Kona Cafe
Jiko
Palio
Fulton's Crab House
to name a few. Not all meals everywhere are going to be great. I find these restaurants pretty consistent.

Now if only someone would pay me for my eatting hobby ::yes::

For best gourmet quality in the WDW area? Victoria & Albert's -- nothing else is close.

Everything else tastes kind of blah after eating at Victoria & Albert's.

Cheers!

Wow!

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I am really really excited about our September trip. I rarely get to eat at nicer restaurants. I'm a single mom so money is often stretched pretty tight. I have been paying off this trip for ever! I am really looking forward to one really nice meal.

My son is 11 but loves to eat "fancy food". He says it makes him feel like a "rich grown-up". He tries to act very mature. It's so cute.

It's also the only time he will venture away from chicken strips and pizza! hehe. Sometimes I am shocked at what he will try when it looks like art. We ate at club 33 once at Disneyland and he was so excited to try cavier. He didn't like it but he tried it!

Thanks again,

Shell

I would say these are what I would consider big-city gourmet quality that I have tried...

Flying Fish
Citricoes
Jiko
California Grill
BlueZoo

I would throw in Brown Derby but others disagree.

I haven't ate Shula's or Yachtman Steakhouse but they generally get good reviews.

The books tell you that the Grand Floridian has the best quality food in the "World". I would agree since I really like 1900 Park Fare for breakfast or dinner but I also like the Cape May Cafe for brekafast. I would think all the food comes from the same vendor so I can't imagine GF has different food than the other resorts other than different choices.

Been to and would rate as very good (food snob):

Artists Point (my husband, I haven't been)
Flying Fish
Jiko (I didn't like what I ordered, but it was well prepared, I just didn't like what I ordered).

Tries hard but doesn't make it:

Kona
Le Cellier
Narcoosees

Other places we have dined in the past five years, but wouldn't consider "fine" dining:

San Angel Inn
Teppenyaki
Sci Fi
Spoodles
Beaches and Cream
Boma
Beirgarten
Rose and Crown
Whipering Canyon Cafe

This is a bit subjective, as the best lobster in the world won't taste very good to someone who doesn't eat seafood. Plus, some dishes in restaurants are much better than others. Here's my list... **(Disclaimer: I haven't eaten in V&A's as I refuse to bring a jacket for dinner, and DW refuses to bring a formal dress. Its just how we prefer to vacation.)**

Top Choice:
Flying Fish. I find they do most of their dishes consistently excellent. From the crusted steak to the Mahi-Mahi to the goat cheese stuffed raviolis. Never a disappointment.

Others worth mentioning:
Cali Grill for their beef filet, wonderful desserts, and eclectic menu.
French Bistro for the rack of lamb and top notch desserts.
Brown Derby for their rolls, cobb salad, and pasta (great for lunch).
Citrico's for their excellent wine pairings.
Kona's for their great breakfast - it IS the most important meal of the day you know :rolleyes1

Good luck and enjoy!

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I really appreciate how many people on this board will take the time out of their lives to answer someones questions.

After reviewing your suggestions and checking out the ALLEARS menus, I have it narrowed down to Flying Fish, Cali Grill and Artist Point. I don't know why but the menu at Citricos doesn't appeal to me. No offense, it's probably fantastic! :goodvibes

I LOVE sushi so I was thinking Cali Grill for that. ( I currently have an ADR for Cali Grill but we may go to MNSSHP, so I will have to change the date)

I don't eat steak very often but when I do I want a good one and I was thinking Artist Point's buffalo steak sounds amazing.

Everything on the Flying Fish menu sounds good and I would have to see what I was in the mood for when I ordered.

Since we are going in September I am going to let fate decide and see which place has an open time for an ADR. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can at least get one of them!

Oh and I would have chosen V & A but I think it might be just a tiny bit to upscale for my DS.
