where is the best steak

The best steaks we have had on property have been at the Yachtsman's, Le Cellier, Flying Fish, the buffalo top striploin at Artist's Point and the California Grill. We found Shula's very mediocre. We tried it once and weren't impressed, tried it again because we kept hearing how great it was and thought maybe we hit it a bad night, but no, it was still not great. Not saying it is awful, it just isn't anything special.

I didn't think Shula's filet was worth it?:sad2: I've had better. Le Cellier is my fave but I heard Yahtsmen is good.

DH had a NY Strip at Sanaa a few weeks ago that was so tender he didn't need a knife. He said it was the best steak he ever had...

Best steak I've had at Disney was at the Flying Fish - maybe the best steak I've ever had anywhere. My wife had the steak too, hers for some reason was jusk ok.
2nd place for me is the porterhouse at the Yahtchman.
Wolfgang pucks and Kona had the best steak at any "non-double table service" that we've eaten at.
I want to try Schula's but it is very co$tly and not on the dining plan.

DH and I LOVE the ribeye at the Captain's Grille in the Yacht Club...go there on every trip and it is always tender and cooked to perfection ;)

Yes.

My husband always eats alot of steaks when we go to WDW. Our absolute favorite steak is the one at Flying Fish. They only have one on the menu (char crusted NY strip), but it is really, really good. We prefer it over any we've had at Yachtsman. Other good steaks are at Yachtsman Steak House at YC, Mama Melrose, Coral Reef, Rose & Crown, Le Cellier, Maya Grill at CSR, Kona at Poly, Turf Club at SSR, Artist Point at WL, Narcoosee at GF, and Jiko at AKL. We've never eaten there but Shulas at the S/D also gets excellent reviews. I once ordered the steak at Citricos and also the one at California Grill, but was not impressed with either. I do love the veal shank, pork two ways, and beef short ribs at Citricos and the pork loin at Califoria Grill though.

I assume you meant beef steaks, but Artist Point has a buffalo steak that is really, really good too. We order it just about every time we eat there.

Shulas was by far my favorite, it was cooked to perfection. If you like steaks its the place to go.

Now that we are back from WDW and have eaten at Jiko (@ Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge), I can now comment on Jiko . . .

OMG!!! That was "the best" steak I have ever eaten (even better than Ruth's Chris). Sometimes, I am leary when people "recommend" a restaurant to us because we have been to other ravely-reviewed restaurants and were very underwhelmed. This restaurant lived up to all the hype. :thumbsup2

We started with the Taste of Africa - Trio of dips with assorted breads and house made Naan - $9.00

We have eaten this at Sanaa and knew that we only liked the Naan. So, we got all Naan and it was warm and tasty. The sauces were nice and light. This was a nice starter.

For our main entree, we both ordered the Oak-grilled Filet Mignon - with macaroni and cheese and south african cabernet reduction - $42.00

Over the years, I have learned to over-order how I want my steak cooked @ WDW. If I want it medium, I say medium-well and it always comes out perfectly medium. ;) My steak was perfectly cooked and tender. My husband and I both devoured our steaks. The side dish of macaroni and cheese is not on the menu. But, if you ask your server "nicely", they will have the chef make it special with the steak. It compliments the steak nicely. I honestly think they should put this combo back on the menu. :thumbsup2

I normally don't have room for dessert, but this was our Anniversary dinner. So, I splurged. I ordered something that I thought sounded so "weird", I had to try it . . .

Parsnip Creme Brulee - $9.00

They only serve Parsnip Creme Brulee in the fall/winter from what our server told me. Parsnip is one of my favorite vegetables (Yes, I am weird.). So, I was really looking forward to this dessert. It was surprisingly good. It tasted more like a pumpkin creme brulee with the all-spice flavoring. If you like parsnip, it's worth a try. ;)

Looking back, it was an amazing meal from beginning to end. We already have plans to go back during our next WDW vacation! :cool1:

We ate at Shula's about two weeks ago and it was AMAZING! Highly recommend their steak.

TxTaylors-
Thanks for the great mini-review!! I have been going back and forth on this ADR, but that review convinced me to stick with Jiko! Glad you had a good experience!!!

Jiko IS great...truely...but the "better than Ruth's" review is honestly a bit over the top IMO as filet mignon should always be GREAT.

Especially if you really wanted another cut, but realized Filet was all they offer.

For me if you are going OOP then it would have to be Shula's. However, if you are going on the DDP it would be as follows.

Signature: Yachtsman

1Ts: Captains Grille. Call me crazy, but this place offers a very good steak and it's only 1ts on the dining plan. In my opinion, a well kept secret.

Overrated:LeCellier. If you want to by into the hype, go to LeCellier. If you do though I would recommend going for lunch as a 1ts. No way in the world (pun intended) would I waste 2ts on this place for dinner.

Maybe, my judgement is clouded . . . I had a bad experience at Ruth's Chris. :sad2:

DH and I had a nice romantic dinner planned for our Anniversary. (Somehow, steak houses and our Anniversary seem to go hand-in-hand ;) ) It was a special occasion. So, I ordered the steak (filet) & lobster. Now, I grew up in New England and know how broiled lobster should taste. It came out with the meat still translucent and mushy not dense and cooked. Have you ever had raw lobster? :scared1: Yuck! The server tried to convince me that it was thoroughly cooked. It was NOT! They brought it back to the kitchen and tried to re-cook the same lobster which of course came back overcooked. :headache: They ruined my poor lobster! Now, the steak was good, don't get me wrong. But, not soooo good that I want to go back for it. JMHO We live in Texas and have many other better steak houses around. ;)

Speaking of steak, DH and I are going to his Manager Christmas Dinner tonight and it's at a steak house!!! :woohoo: (Bob's Steak and Chop House) I am drooling in anticipation! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Shula's in on our list of places to try @ WDW. I've had it booked twice now and canceled. Same with Blue Zoo. I've heard great things about Blue Zoo, but just haven't made it yet. One day . . . :cloud9:
