I need to buy a iPad for my mom.... Does anyone know the best place to by in US? Any deal on that anyone knows of?

All our iPad purchases have been refurbished off the Apple site.

If you have the target debit card it would save you 5%

I don't use an ipad, but if you are looking for good tablet at a reasonable price I highly suggest the Nexus 7. I got it for Christmas, my oldest DS got and we LOVE IT. So easy to use. I liked it so much that I went out and bought my two youngest a Nexus 7 to share. I was able to set up security on it to prevent them from accessing things they shouldn't. Good luck!

+1

Shipping is free, too. Although I have had the 2 refurbs I've bought shipped to our local Apple store, which is in NH (no sales tax). We live in Mass, so we'd have to pay 6.5% tax to have it shipped to us.

I just got mine at Microcenter. Apple didn't have any refurbed 4th Gen Ipads on the site.

Bought one for DH for his birthday through the apple site. I used their credit card deal to get 0% financing for one year. That way I can take my time to pay for it even though I could really pay it all now if I had to. If I were to get another one I would probably look for a Target or Best Buy deal that gives you a gift card with purchase plus use the RedCard for 5% off if going with Target.

This is a great option. I've bought many an Apple product from their refurb site and they have been indistinguishable from new.

Has anyone had a problem with a refurbished one? Does apple do a guarantee on them?

Have bought numerous items from the refurb store without a problem. Full new warranty applies.

Bought DS a refurbed Ipad 2 last Christmas from the Apple Website. It does come with the warranty and you can get a square trade warranty as well. Only problem is square trade will not sell you the"accidental drop" policy on a refurb. Apple warranty also does not cover accidents. Of course when DS dropped his Ipad and shattered the screen I had to pay out of pocket to fix it.:headache:

Check WalMart. They recently slashed the price on iPhones and, I think, iPads too but I'm not positive. I went there last Sunday to get my new iPhone 5. It is $199 everywhere else but was only $127 at WalMart.

Could someone clarify something for me.....

I have been shopping for an ipad, and am confused on the descriptions!

Ipad 2---then ipad 3 ---- then ipad mini----right? Then I see them referred to as generations? So is the mini the 4th generation or did I miss one between the ipad 3 and the mini???

The iPad 2 predates them all, and is rarely called the second generation iPad because "iPad 2" is its official name. The iPad 3's official name was iPad (third generation). The iPad fourth generation's official name is iPad with Retina Display (which is silly because the third gen had that too).

The iPad 3/third generation is no longer being sold by Apple (except as refurbished), but many third party retailers still sell them, often at discounts. It is virtually identical to the iPad 4/fourth generation except that the fourth generation has the new Lightning connector and a faster processor.

The Mini is not the fourth generation iPad, but it came out at the same time. It's a separate product.

I would check Walmart for their refurbished Ipads. They are pretty reasonable. They also offer a reasonably priced warranty. And the warranty does cover drops, cracks, and spills on it. I have bought from them and have been satisfied.

My son and his iPad are inseparable. We bought it at Target so that we could get the 5% discount and we got their warranty. It now has a cracked screen and said no problem they will fix it. I decided to wait until after the holidays in hopes that it won't take the estimated 3 weeks, but very happy that it is covered!

It has a gumdrop case on it, I'm not sure how it was broken, either a drop or maybe someone sat on it.

My son's also had a gumdrop case! So much for those cases! I paid $139 to get his fixed. I had it back in my hands in 5 days.
