Where is the best nightlife, by DBIL's did not know pleasure island closed. He said there use to be a gay bar there...where is the hot spots now?????

These days you pretty much have to go to Citywalk or Downtown Orlando for any gay nightlife, although House of Blues and Jellyrolls are both fun places if you don't mind the straight folk :)

Where are the gay clubs in Citywalk?

There are not gay clubs in Citywalk, at least not to the point where you could compare it to mannequins.

If you want gay clubs, I suggest Pulse in downtown orlando area. Saturday nights are techno nights if you're looking for techno.

Revolution, also in the downtown area, has techno on Thursday nights and is a gay club

House of Blues on Sunday nights is service industry night. It is a large mix of pretty much everyone who would have gone to PI, but the music is also techno. It's not as much of a gay crowd, but it's on Disney property so you know you don't have to worry.

Savoy in downtown Orlando plays techno every night, but doesn't have a dance floor. It's also a gay club.

Thursdays at the Groove at CW is 80s night. Again, it's not specifically gay, but it tends to draw us out and the night is becoming more and more popular.

and of course, there's the always adventurous Parliment house. Keep your drink close and your boyfriend closer if you venture to the P-House. It's all techno on Sundays.

I've spent the last 3 months looking for PI replacements and this is basically what I've come up with. I usually visit Pulse on Saturdays. If friends are in town, then I might do a thurs, sat, sun run between the 3 techno clubs.

You can also check out atlantic dance at the Boardwalk. It's a request format and again, it's not gay, but it's Disney so...you never know who you will meet.

Thanks for replying, my DBIL was really disappointed to here PI was closed. I will send this thread to him. ;)

Does Citywalk still have The Groove? I remember that club being gay on Thursdays, but I havent been in about 7 years :rotfl2:

yes it still has the groove and it apparently used to play techno, which I can imagine would draw the gay crowd. It has turned into a top 40s club since then. The only exception is Thursday nights they now play all 80s music and the DJ is DJ Doc, former 8-trax DJ. He is a nice guy and takes care of us PI regulars.

You can also visit http://savepleasureisland.blogspot.com for a listing of mannequins and 8-trax alternatives each night. Several people have gone clubbing around the area to find alternatives. Just scroll to the bottom and you'll find the updated listing.

There are many, many people who come here and find out about PI and are disappointing. I see them come to Atlantic Dance, I see them ask security officers at PI, I see them wonder around with puzzled looks wondering when the clubs open. It's really really quite sad. Although some clubs in the area have stepped up their techno nights, nothing will ever compare to PI.

I'm thinking I might have to hit the clubs when I'm there in June. On my last trip for Gay Days I went to PI on Thursday and had a blast. At first I was a little apprehensive since I was by myself. I didn't even try to get into Mannequins given how long the line was so I just went to 8-Trax. I had such a blast dancing, it was one of the highlights of my trip. I am so disappointed that they killed PI. I think I might have to hit up Pulse. I hear alot of people mention it.

Just be a bit cautious (keep your head up and wits about you :) ) when traveling in and out of downtown Orlando, ok?

Especially the area of Revolution. I used to work quite near there and often heard about muggings and other physical assaults. Not necessarily limited to gay folk (not meaning to imply that) but in general.

Orlando in the evening, late evening hours, can be a pretty unfriendly place. :confused3

The Boardwalk will be an option too. Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance are at the boardwalk.

They can get a bus from DTD to the boardwalk, and then back to DTD (although now with the changes to PI, I don't know how long those buses run at night any more).

Atlantic dance shuts down at 1:45am and the busses continue to run after that to make sure everyone gets back to their hotel.

Thursday of gay days HOB is having a welcome party so that will likely be the big spot with PI being gone. Remember that Atlantic dance is A) all request and B) videos only. That means very little techno if that's your thing.

Thanks for the info on the boardwalk and Atlantic Dance. Wasn't aware of the video set up.

Here's what the official website has to say about the party at House of Blues:

"If you're looking to find the place where the hottest men meet up on Thursday night during Gay Days Weekend in Orlando, JUMP START is the destination. But, Jump Start is really only for those dudes interested in meeting thousands of ripped, hot, muscled, partying men.- of course."

Wow. Could they have worded it in a way that I feel even LESS welcome than I already do? Maybe: "Only hot guys allowed in to this party"

Where's the party for the rest of us? :confused3 Or do only the pretty boys matter?

I hate that the promoters of Gay Days have turned it into nothing but circuit parties. Or at least that's what they seem to be trying to do.

I like the set up at ADH quite a bit, the couple of times we've been there. I personally can't stand techno, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest that they rarely play it. The mix has tended toward a lot of 80s stuff when we've been there. That works for me! :thumbsup2

There is also Rix lounge at the Coronado Springs. We've enjoyed it when we've been there. It tends to be rather hit or miss, though. It depends a lot on what kind of conventions they've got booked into that resort as to what the crowd is like.

I agree about ADH and I enjoy when the DJ leans more towards the 70s and 80s stuff rather than top 40s. I'm just trying to warn people because I have this large feeling a lot of gay people are going to show up at ADH during gay days wanting techno and they aren't gonna get it.

Idea - they could go with their iPods on -
now one would be the wiser

Parliament House is the king of orlando gay nightlife. Anyone who says otherwise is either not from Orlando or.... lame! Nothing compares to partying at P-house. Its a great time and the people there make you feel like you are at home. No matter who you are. Pulse and Savoy, or other downtown gay clubs can be very clicky or elitist. Dont get me wrong, they can be fun also, but for my money.... nothing even comes close to Parliament House.

I say this in complete honesty...P House has a horrible reputation and I am not a clicky person. Everyone I talk to is afraid to go in P house alone for fear some creepy person is gonna come feel you up on the dance floor. I have not yet been to P house, and I don't really know that I want to.

Then of course there's the rooms you can rent to have sex...

shall I continue?

Indeed. P-House does have a horrible reputation. Not only for the people who visit there ( a clique in its own right) but for things like drinks (order bottled beer and watch the bartender open it) type of thing.

Not saying don't go if you like the place and have had good times there. To each their own, but I'd not feel comfortable in recommending it off the cuff to out of town guests. :confused3

I know they are trying to clean the place up and turn it into a vacation club of sorts, but they have one hell of a long way to go.
