I have just about had it.

we have the WORST mail delivery here. This week just took the cake though. Mnday I got mail, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday NO mail. Now, realisticly Tuesday was the only day that it made sense. Wednesday and Thursday we get "free" newspapers delivered by our mail person. My 2 neighbors got theirs- I did not. Our mailboxes are in a line- vertically. Mine is on top. It's labelled, with the apartment # and our last names.

So today I go down to the post office, to inquire if maybe my mail is being held? Not sure why it would be, since I didn't request it. But I checked anyway. Nope, not being held.

I ask how I find out where my mail is, lady says "you'll have to ask your carrier"...well, that'd be easy if I knew what time he came. Some days its noon, some days its 2 and others its as late as 430. He walks, so I can 'hear' him coming.

I ask if there is a 'investigation form" I can fill out. Nope. Only option, to talk to the post master. So I do that. He has no answers. I ask why I didnt even get the free paper---he has no clue.

A while later, I realize, one of my credit cards expires tomorrow. I call to make sure I am correct- I am. The sent it, should have already been here. They cancel the card, issue me a new account number, and send out another one. This time certififed.

So today I get mail- funny how that works huh? 1st one is post marked September 25th, from White River Junction- thats our mail hub. So...it should have been here WEDNESDAY at the LATEST....99% of the time it would have been here Tuesday.........so where the heck did this sit since Wednesday? I'm livid.

How much mail am I missing??????

UGH!

Is the mail carrier putting it in the wrong box? Are you neighbors getting their mail?

Send yourself mail or have an out of town friend send you mail over succeeding days, see how long the individual letters take to get to you.
See if you even *get* the individual letters.

If the letters disappear, if they are taking a week to get there from within the same zip code, if it's two weeks to get there from across the country...then you do have some sort of problem.
Ask your neighbors if they are also not receiving their regular mail...there have been cases where mail carriers dump maikl they don't want to deliver.
If the local postmatser cannot resolve your delivery issues then you'll have to go above his head, there must be some sort of district supervisor.

Good luck,
agnes!

It violates Federal Law to interfere with mail delivery. "I don't know" isn't a sufficient response from your post office.

I like the send yourself a letter idea as well as going above his head.

I know, we can all start to send you letters and see how many you recieve. That should drive your letter carrier nuts.

But serisouly if you would like to see how long it takes to get a letter from Connecticut send me a PM with your address and I will let you know when I send it.

I agree I don't know is not the answer I would be looking for. The least he could have said was that he would look into it.

Good Luck

Are you a rural route? I have a friend who just started delivering for a rural route and I've been kind of shocked to find out how the rural routes are contracted out and managed. I'm used to the regular routes that run like clockwork.

We have a fill in mail carrier right now and our service has been awful. We are getting mail almost everyday that does not belong to us. We also didn't get a couple of bills recently so we are thinking they might have went to someone else. We finally called to complain and were told to let them know if it happens again.

Everyone else is getting their mail- at least what they are expecting to come...the papers, etc... Monday, our electric bills are here, so I"ll see what happens then. If they have theirs and I dont have mine, I"m gonna be livid.

Im not impressed with the lack of help from the Post master...he sorta shrugged it off.

We're not a rural route, and it's the same mailman since I moved in in 2005...and like i said- our mailbox is labelled, both the number and the last names.

I did just check with my downstairs neighbor- apt 1 is vacant- and she got a bunch of apt 1's mail- even though there is no apt 1, from like 2-3 tenants ago...not too sure wth is going on.

I'm going send myself some mail next week and see what happens! If I drop it in the box here, it doesnt have to go to our mail jub- so it should be here the next day- theoretically!

Thanks guys
Brandy

you will get no mail and like it

they bring out what they get everyday, with the exception of 'junk mail'... catalogs, etc.

your carrier cannot delay first class mail.

did you do something and tick off the carrier? My carrier was mad at me once because I asked her slow down in the neighborhood when she drove her walking route because I was afraid she was going to hit one of the kids. Then she deliver our mail at different times then the rest of the neighborhood. I got it resolved but no one at the post office believed me that she would do such a thing. We have a new wonderful carrier now but I remember being stressed out that my bills would be late because of the incidents.
