Where is my "Lifetime" TV?

I agree, the channel selection has gotten worse and I didn't think that was possible. Now with all of the new flat screen TV (digital) you can't get the classic disney cartoon channel. THis was always great at getting the grandkids to calm down before bed. We were at BLT 2 weeks ago and finally started going to the lobby of the CR to watch TV. We took our mugs and got something to drink and took the girls 5 and nearly 3 to watch their favorite disney cartoons. Mom and Dad went out, and this was great as they sat there for 30 minutes and never said a word. We miss not getting the classic cartoons in the rooms now and I always put that on my room surveys I get when I return home. Do you think if they have their PJs on and we bring a bowl of popcorn they would get the point.

Next time have them bring some blankets and pillow, spread them out on the floor and hang out for the evening. Then if someone tells you that you need to do this in your room, explain to them that you would, but there is nothing for the kids to watch.:lmao:

Am I the only one who would never notice if Lifetime or any other channel was missing? I rarely watch tv while at Disney. I'd much rather sit out on the balcony at OKW and read a book. ;)

Seriously, the lack of tv channels is why I never understood why everyone is making such a big deal of all the resorts not having flat screen tvs. There's nothing to watch, so what difference does it make???

That is you. For us, our kids go to bed early and so we are forced to be in for the night. It would be nice to be able to unwind from the day with a little TV. Books are not for my DH and he would rather die than read anything he did not have to. Everyone is different.

I agree that the channel lineup is terrible, and although we don't spend much time watching TV, we like a couple hours in the evening after a long day in the parks. I personally would never have noticed Lifetime being gone (or that it was there in the first place), but I really miss not having TBS, TNT, USA, Comedy Central, E! (for my wife) etc, to surf through.

This last trip, however, I did use our laptop to stream some movies off of Netflix and to acces a friend's Slingbox. I didn't bring a VGA cable, but the newer (and recently refurbed) resorts that have the input hub (including BLT where we were) can be used to hook up the laptop and display onto the TV.

Each time my family and I have stayed at the Contemporary since the room renovations when they put in the flat screen TV's, they still had the classic Disney cartoon channel and the most recent time we saw it was in December 2009 which was our last trip to WDW.

Except for the local broadcast and cable access channels (that's where a lot of your religious programming is coming from), and the international channels and a couple of news channels which are de rigeur in all hotels, all they have are channels controlled by or affiliated with Disney. Maybe Disney no longer has an interest in Lifetime (I'm pretty sure they used to)

My Dh likes to watch television on vacation. I like watching movies. DVC is our home and we use it as a home, not a vacation per se.

If I want to stay 2 weeks, DH will agree, but I want his vacation style covered too so he does not feel like he could be at home watching his 200 channels and saving money to boot. That is true, but I love my DVC, so if they can help us out with the TV channels, that would be great.

When it comes to in-villa amenities, Im all for keeping up with the industry standards.

Several men stood up at the Condo Meeting and requested Fox News so my Dh is not the only 1 that watches tv at DVC.:rotfl:

Not only is the channel selection extremely limited, but there is no listing in the room of the where to find the channels you want. There used to be a tent sign on top of the TV that told you where to find ABC, NBC, FOX, etc. Now that sign only lists the Disney selections (DVC channel, 7 Must Sees at WDW, etc.) I'm currently at VWL and had to do a lot of flipping the channels to find out where I can watch Lost tomorrow night. Thank goodness it's an ABC show and ABC is still owned by Disney! :)

:) Dare I say it....I miss the old loop of Stacy and "the seven top things". DH was just fascinated with her on vacation. We hated the new commercial. To him that is part of his Disney vacation....leaving that on 24/7.

No, you are NOT the only one :)! We watch some news while on vacation at WDW because we find it is easy to lose sight of what is going on outside of WDW. We, also, like to keep track of the weather between WDW and home because we usually drive.

No, you are not the only one who finds reading enjoyable :)!
