Where is fire drill station for Deck 1 passengers, 2 babies

Hi;
We are travelling on the Disney Magic Dec.5-9. unfortunately, we are on deck 1, we booked late, only thing available. anyways, My question is: I know you must use the stairs to get to your boat station during the drill. I am travelling with 2 -18 month olds, and wonder how far it is to our station. My concern is trying to carry them in my vest and theirs. up all those flights of stairs. also my knees are quite bad and very rarely take the stairs. I know my 9 year old won't be able to carry them, or my mother, who is the other adult. Any advice would be appreciated. Please!!. Mary

I don't know all the specifics on what they do in these circumstances, but I do know I have never seen a baby actually WEARING their life vest. For the drill it's good enough if someone else carries the vests (maybe the 9 yr old and your mom could each carry one) Also, there are CM at every stairwell and elevator bank during the drill and I'm sure they deal with situations like this routinely. They deal with people with mobility problems too, which, IMHO, schleping around 2 18 month olds while wearing a PFD would be considered a mobilty problem I know I'd find it hard to move in that case!!

Have a fun cruise! What memories. Make sure grandma has a camera for those shots of ya'll in your PFD's!

I believe all of the muster stations are on Deck4, since that is also where all the lifeboats are. So, you'll have to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get there. Where your station is, I don't know exactly where on Deck 4, but it will be somewhere on that deck. Maybe you could have your Mother carry your life vest while you carry the two 18 month olds. When you arrive on the 4th deck, you could "pull over" before actually getting to your muster station and put your life vest o n. The babies (18 month olds) don't have to wear their vests to the lifeboat drill, as they're in a special pouch. You'll just be asked if you have the infant lifevests located in your room.

All muster stations are on deck 4 - Outside on the deck or up in the Walt Disney Theater or aft in Animators Palate.

BTW, you don't need to come from your room to the muster drill at 4pm. You can be at your muster station early!! That way you could take the elevator and have your family help carying the PFD's and then you could carry the babies.

My thought exactly. Go early, have the kids walk (no crowds at that point to contend with) and put on your vest when you need to. The baby vest is in a package that they don't want you to open up. I don't know what age/weight they change to a child, but I think an 18th month old would still have the infant one. Someone else might know that answer. If you want to know, supply the height & weight of the kids when you ask b/c it is probably based on size rather than age.

You can even use the stroller, go to the 4th deck, relax in the comfortable chairs located throughout the inside areas and then, as the time approaches, leave the stroller somewhere close by but inside and go to your muster station - that would also help for the crush of people after the drill - having the stroller might be easier

Mom of 5k's , we were on the 9/12/04 cruise and we stayed on deck one and we met on deck 4 in the Walt Disney Theater. They do have life jackets for babies , but you have to ask for them when you get on the ship. They are not many of them so they give out pretty quickly. TJHUTCH.

Thanks for all your info. Especially about arriving early, NEVER thought of that. BUT can you carry your life vests up early with you? I don't recall ever seeing anyone carrying vests around. Knowing the muster statiions are on deck 4 helps. Thanks, Mary

TJHUTCH...... Can I ask what you thought of deck 1. I am claustrophobic, and I have never stayed in a room without a large porthole, just found out Deck 1 has little portholes. What were they like. Also, if the claustrophib person reads this, could you IM me please? Thanks Mary

Mom of 5k's, We loved deck 1, it was very quiet and there is not much traffic down there. We stayed in room 1037 [ no porthole ] and it was great. The little portholes have 2 in the room.TJHUTCH

Boy, I wish I had asked this question before my cruise! We put our 18-month-old in his life jacket (it has long sleeves, a thick hood, and a 5-point buckle -- it was 90 degrees) for the drill and it nearly killed me to carry him up and down stairs while wearing my life jacket. On deck 4 the CMs said we could take it off right away. Great advice to carry the life jackets and get there early!!!

We were on the 9/11 Magic and had a outside cabin on deck one (1068)-- it was very quiet down there with virtually no 'traffic' down our hallway. You are really as close to everything as you need/want to be...The two portholes are not as "cool" as the one big one but leave them open during the day and you will not feel claustrophobic... do you have 2 connecting rooms for your group? Leaving the doors open between the two would help aleviate the confined feeling... (you can get a wedge from your room steward or use a trusty flip flip like we did!!)

I agree with the other posters about getting up to your muster station a bit early and don't bother with putting the life vests on until you arrive and it's time for the drill to start-- it's an uncomfortable enough experience to wear the vests much less try to walk stairs and carry children in them!! We went about 5-10 minutes before it started and took the elevator up with life vests in hand (I didn't even know they shut down the elevators during the drill!)
