hi guys, well, I was really planning on skipping the whole shopping after thanksgiving thing this year, have most of the xmas presents taken care of..... made the mistake of going into the scrapbook store and they were talking about their big sale the day after thanksgiving. Guess I know where I'll be. :D Anyone else? (for those of you in the northern va area, this is the memories store at Dulles Crossing). maggie

You are too funny! But I must admit I was thinking the same thing this morning!
I will hit Toys R us first thing with all my ads in hand so I get the best price, Love that price matching thing!
Then I usually head over to the Mall and stop in TDS and JCP (especially if they have a free give away!)
I am usually home by lunch time! Unless I have to stop at Zainy Brainy!

I am going to a crop from 4-midnight! I can't decide if I will get up that morning for shopping or get out the 'ol Christmas decorations. I guess it depends on how many of the presents I can get made/buy before then.

I'll be on an airplane, heading south for our December 1st cruise on the Disney Wonder! We're getting very excited! :Pinkbounc

I have never heard of Black Friday before!! Sounds like my type of shopping!

Oh please Maggie, you're telling me there is a big sale at Memories on Friday??? Great, I'll be in Richmond for Thanksgiving. Do you think my DH will wonder why I have to get home so quickly Friday?
And no, I've never heard of "black Friday" either. I try to get most of my shopping done prior so I avoid the crazy day.

I always go and buy 3 different papers on Thanksgiving day then while Tom is cooking I pull all the ads, my list of gifts to get and make my game plan. I usually hit Bob STores first then Best Buy but, it all depends on what I need. Then around 10 ish I take my self out for a nice breakfast then head north to the outlets in Tilton do some shopping then head to the Tilton Diner for lunch. Check my list over and if my pocketbook and feet are still holding up go shopping some more.

I love shopping on this day I have done it forever. So many people think I'm crazy but I simply love it.

Oh, I can't wait.

Black Friday - the day after Thanksgiving when all the stores go into the Black (bookkeeping $ thing)

Me, i love to hit Staples and Toy R Us. Covers just about everything. This is usually my last day of shopping :) I like to enjoy shopping and find it hard to during Xmas.

oh yes, black friday, the day I dreded when I worked in retail :teeth:

I tried last year and the year before to get some of the great early morning deals. Two years ago I was going to try Best Buy for somehting but got there half hour later than I had planned, and the line was worse than I had planned. I ended up going in and got some other things, but the worst part was the line to check out. Made some new friends in the ~2 hrs to get throguh the line.

Last Year I planned arrival even earlier for Staples. I still was somewhat far back from front, and when I got in the main thing I went there for was already gone.

I will have to wait till turkey day and see what sales interest me, and if there are any deals worth it to me.

I will not be participating in Black Friday this year...usually it is tradition for my SIL and myself to go Christmas shopping on this day to the usual Toys R Us stores, with flyers in hand! LOL This year though, we are crusing December 1st, so we will be leaving on Friday to drive to Florida! :)

...but won't be doing that until next December! :(

But on the good side, I will be shopping EVERYWHERE in Winston Salem, NC!!! Woo hoo!! Can't wait!! Definitely my favorite shopping day of the year! ;) :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

No shopping for me, wouldn't catch me dead at the mall on Black Friday! What is more frustrating than the lines is that the store is usually out of the toy or what ever that I went for with in the first 1/2hr. Mom, sis and I usually leave the kids with DHs and head out for an afternoon of antiquing or something, so much fun.

My LSS is having their big sale November 23rd. The last time I spent $40 just in cardstock. I'm not a diehard shopper so I usually avoid the malls from black Friday on. I do love to go out on Christmas Eve. I hate to use the word magical for Christmas but it's the only word that seems to fit. I feel like I am in a holiday movie with music, decorations and a Merry Christmas from everyone you meet. The bell ringers are out front and sometime there is even a sputtering of snow. There's nothing left on the shelves but that's OK. Everyone is in a good mood except for the occasional grumbling elf, but that adds to the whole experience.

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause.

I shop online that day!! It's the last day that I place orders so that I have them in hand by Christmas. I can't fight the crowds at the mall. But I could be coerced into visitng the LSS that day!;)

Hey Grover: Why don't we have something like this in Canada? Sure we have boxing day, but who needs to buy more stuff then.:D

nicurn-- Did you see if the Memories store was having any special hours? On Black Friday I do Kohls when they open (6 am) and that's usually it. I might have to brave traffic to hit that store. They have so much cute stuff!

Usually go to Frankenmuth Mi,but this year DD and i are going to see The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at the Fox Theatre. Susan

Spent too many hours in stores on black Friday when I worked retail! This year I'm doing a little bit of shopping online and the rest is going to be gift certificates! We have a program at our high school where you buy the certificates dollar for dollar and the merchant rebates a portion to the school extra-curricular.

For instance, let's say that I want $100 of Barnes & Noble. I pay $100 for the gift certificates on Thursday night when the choir association is selling. Choir keeps 2% and the additional percentage (for this company 7%) goes into my son's account for use in paying for choir trips, football camp, etc. One more way to stretch the dollars and be able to buy more scrapbook stuff.
