New park reservation rules for AP

So, if you make a reservation for Epcot, you can’t park hop to MK? If you want to be at MK for the evening, you must start at MK?
OK, so now I'm totally confused. Why are Annual Passholders getting punished with all these new rules regarding park hopping, yet people who buy "date based" park hoppers don't seem to be affected? I guess I'll just wait to see the parade until these rules get clarified a little more.

I know. I could have purchased discounted date-based tickets from my company. I thought there would be more flexibility with the Sorcerer Pass so purchased APs for the first time this year. I still feel like this new rule will change 99 times and that it will be similar to contacting DVC MS - get different answers each time you call or chat.

If you planned on entering a theme park before 2pm during your trip there is no change at all. You would have still needed a reservation for every single day.

Hopping restrictions based on capacity limitations are still in place for passholders and date-based tickets.

7/20 is also still open for reservations with all eligible AP tiers.

Because date based tickets can be counted for each specific day and APs can not.

So, they know how many tickets have been sold. And, even those with date based tickets, park hopping can be suspended at any time, and they can still issue park closures.

It's a PARADE. LOL
A friend and I recently booked a trip specifically to see the parade. Neither of us have points available and there isn’t much availability anyway. We booked 4 nights at Pop with a good discount. I have an AP (need to get the magnet also). She’s a retired CM with Maingate (although she may be blocked from
MK). Doesn’t take much for us to book an “extra trip”. Another friend and I booked a long weekend for the Tron preview a couple years ago. We get going on an idea and before you know it, it’s booked. We booked July 23 to 27 before the date was announced, it was a close call. Love the night parade, I’ve missed it!

But staying onsite APholders don't need a reservation anyway, anyone staying on points or cash shouldn't have a problem.
Which is why Disney wants to limit the number of AP in MK, because everyone staying onsite will be there already.

This is incorrect. AP holders with a resort reservation just aren't limited to the number of park pass reservations dictated by their pass type. They can book park pass reservations for length of each stay + the limitation for their pass type with no resort stay.

If you want to enter a park before 2pm with an AP while staying at a WDW resort you still need park pass reservations.
