Where is a State in the U.S. that has.....

You had asked about some specific town names... Eagle, Colorado and Boulder, Colorado are both towns where you are almost guaranteed a white Christmas, with mountains and lakes around. The mountain towns may not have a wide variety of jobs available, but Boulder has University of Colorado, and has businesses around town. Golden, Colorado is the home of Coors beer, and may have employment opportunities also. I found that I HATED the snow and cold (lived in Texas and Arizona from 6th grade on) but it was pretty.

I've thought about this too in the past. I would look at North Carolina and Virginia if it were me.

Saratoga Springs, NY is also beautiful.
Its a small town until August when all the horse racers arrive.
It gets lots and lots ofsnow. One year we got 60 inches in Jan.
I havent been there in 15 years tho. so it probably has changed.

As Kitty34 said...If you are looking for a White Christmas every year and lots of water, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is for you!

In our area we have about 250-300 inches of snow every winter..pretty much guaranteed a White Christmas...

We are surrounded by Lake Superior, Lake Michigan and Lake Huron as well as lots and lots of inland lakes and rivers. Winters are cold, but not as cold as some places as we get a lot of snow that keeps things a little insulated and warmer...summers are beautiful.......not as hot and humid as lots of places...with average temps between 70 and 85.

The school districts vary I am sure, but there are several.....The nice thing is that the classes are small enough where the kids get more interaction and everyone knows everyone......

As far as mountains, it depends what you classify as mountains...we dont have Everest or anything close, but there are some.......

Some people who are used to city living might not like it here, but it truly is beautiful.

Personally, if I had to choose somewhere with snow, I'd choose Durango, Colorado or Estes Park, Colorado.

YES!!!! it does. we live in western Maine, have a huge house with a great view of the White Mountains. We also own a condo in NH. We pay more for the condo in property tax. It has no property, no view. It is only 10 miles away!! We know so many people who work in our neighboring town (in NH) and have recently moved to Maine for the property tax and the school district. (The school district is a town to town thing. Both NH and Maine have awesome and horrible schools. We just happen to have an excellent ranking school district -- mostly high school).

Both NH and Maine would get my vote, but if you are going to move to an area because it has no sales tax, I would ask how and what is taxed to make up the difference. The money has to come form somewhere.
