Evening started out on a sad note. Really bad storms this afternoon; about 4:30 this afternoon, in Brenham, a 10 year old girl was swept downstream in a flash flood. She was walking home from school, on the sidewalk, when the flood hit and was washed over a 5' fence into the stream. Police/fire departments and high water rescue groups helping in the search but she hasn't been located. They suspended the search at 10 pm but will resume tomorrow morning at 6, hopefully locating her before the next set of even more severe storms move into the area. AND...Amanda was home getting cleaned up when her co-worker called to tell her the grooming shop was FLOODING! After the ceremony this evening she and Bryan had to go clean up as best they could, get her equipment out of the water and hope for the best tomorrow. She'll have a major cleanup job when she gets to work in the morning!

But Allie's Hall of Honor was SO special! Two of her teammates couldn't make it due to the weather but 5 were there along with out of town family and family friends. She got the loudest and longest applause when she was introduced and a standing ovation after the Emcee read her bio! Such a special evening!

No, she managed to get her washer/dryer elevated before the water reached the motor and they elevated her grooming tables too. Water heater was already on blocks so it was okay. Her big display cabinets received a little water damage but didn't ruin them and the cages just got "an extra cleaning" . It's just SUCH a mess to clean up! It happened before, about 5-6 years ago, during the night. That really caused damage since she didn't discover the water until she opened the door the next morning; at least her co-worker was still there yesterday. All 5 other businesses in the shopping center had water in them!

Such a sad situation. She and her 5 year old sister were walking home after getting off the bus. They'd both slipped, got back up and bystanders/neighbors pulled the 5 year old out of the water right away; the 10 year old lost her footing again and washed downstream with a neighbor and police officer running beside. The neighbor had her hand but couldn't hold on; the police officer was caught up in the flow and HE had to be rescued further downstream.
