Allie's last "touch" in an HPU soccer match...

Expected loss ended in my predicted score, 0-4; Allie (and best friend Sydney) got to go in for the last 10 minutes as seniors in the last game of the season. Hated missing it but I'm afraid I would have embarrassed Allie had I been there...more than a few "ugly tears" as I watched her walk off that field online. All she could say to me in our after game text was "Bittersweet..." .

But nice surprise when I opened the local newspaper this evening! There was Katie and her fellow Dora officers "running the flag' as the seconds ticked off in last Friday's football game. HER last night performance in the Pasture of Pain this Friday. More "ugly tears' will be shed...

Oh I remember the “ugly tears” every last game

AND...they're in full force today already! Allie's Instagram post and Sara's Facebook post on the last game had me going already and just returned from the last pep rally in the gym for Katie. Sat with one of my former "band kids" and her mother so we were already in the "old memories mode" when the pep rally started. Then the announcer said "welcome to the last pep rally in this gym for our seniors" ...! Gonna need a box of tissues this evening for halftime ; at least we know it's not the LAST football game...yet. Playoffs will begin next week but still doesn't make it any easier saying goodbye to these hometown memories.

Regular season ended tonight and playoffs start next week ; sure hope they're not a "one and done"! Football team scored 550 points and held opponents to only 55 the last 11 weeks! Thank goodness for family and friends making the night a little easier..."Katie's Fan Club" this evening :



I think her Dora Director had a harder time than we did... that's her in the center of the photo with her hand over her eyes before she went into a really big "ugly cry" and Katie with her special smile for her after their performance as she watched her announce in the Press Box:

Allie brought one of her soccer teammates home to join us for our emotional evening ... Katie even shed a few tears as they finished singing the School Song at the end of the game.
