Where In The World 19.

Glad you are back, Annie. Must be fun planning a wedding. Science Museum sounds fun!

No Ma'am, not from ABC Commissary. :tink:

Min and Bill's?

Hi all! I had a long weekend (sorry Jeff haha) of my own doing, and was so busy I didn't have time to get on the boards.

Friday we toured a couple of possible venues for the reception! We really like the Natural Science Museum, but it would mean paring down the guest list a bit. The other location, while I'd attended weddings there before, just didn't wow us and were very expensive for food.

Saturday Mom and I went to Winston-Salem, because the church she grew up in was celebrating 150 years. It was an emotional weekend...my granddad had been the minister there, and so there were all these pictures of him doing weddings, and even though it's been 10 years since we lost him, it still hurt to realize he won't be there for mine. And then as soon as we got home I had to turn around and be back at my church to do youth group. So I'm exhausted on all levels. I was very happy to get home last night and spend some quality couch time with Belle and Joe!

A lot of activities but all "fun stuff"! Keep looking for that reception venue...when you find "the one", you'll know! My childhood church has it's 146 anniversary next month. Founding member was one of my great, great, great (how far back do I need to go? :confused3) grandfathers and we still attend that church every Easter and Christmas. I love reading the history; one of the best fundraisers they had for the 140th anniversary was a cookbook. Every page has a little "tidbit" of history (like "In 1893 Christ Winkelmann was paid to deliver 10 cords of firewood at $2.00 per cord") and I never tire of reading them! Your weekend sounds like some of ours and, as DH says, "I'll be glad to go to work on Monday so I can REST"! :tink:

Actually Jeff here's what ours looks like: https://www.flickr.com/photos/naturalsciences/sets/72157625552071126/with/13066483395/

I couldn't get the pictures to embed unfortunately, but if you scroll down to the bottom of the page where it shows the globe shaped dance floor, that's where Joe and I are thinking about

Annie...that's beautiful! But...I'm in the minority...I'd much rather be able to have a larger guest list at a cheaper place. Having your family/friends there to celebrate with you will mean the world to you later in life. I look back at DD's wedding pictures and I see the "people, not the place". With that said...unlimited budget, I'd grab that spot in a heartbeat (but I don't think the tennis shoes I wore to DD's receptions would exactly fit in! :rotfl2:) :tink:

Wow, $2 for a cord of wood. It's at least $150 a cord up here now. 125 years later. I was reading a book about the Disneyland Hotel and when it opened. Rooms rates started at $9 a night!

Annie that wedding venue in the science museum looks cool! But I like Jeff's too with the T-Rex. So many choices!
