Last trip we ate at 50s PT and it was fine. Not sure about now. Ods wants pizza planet for lunch but dinner I am deciding on.
Whats your fav and why? Kids arent kids meals lovers or pickey at all.

SciFi Dine-In Theater is our favorite in DHS - my 12 year-old insists on it everytime we go to Dsiney now. Food isn't fancy but it's decent and the atmosphere is fantastic. The kids love sitting in cars to eat and get a kick out of the old sci-fi movies.

Our kids liked 50's, but they loved Sci Fi - the atmosphere is really fun and we all enjoyed our meals (especially the milk shakes;)).

We haven't tried 50s Prime Time because we're not into the antics, but we do enjoy Sci-fi every now and again. It isn't fine dining and the food is most enjoyable if you stick to menu items that seem to fit the theme (the onion rings, burgers, and milkshakes are great - and you can request the burger at dinner even though it is only on the lunch menu - but it isn't the place to go for a good steak or shrimp dish). The ambiance is what really makes the experience, though - it is so much fun, from the car tables to the hokey old trailers playing on the big screen, and very uniquely Disney.

Unfortunately, I missed our Brown Derby ADR because I was sick that day on our last trip. But DH & DS had such good things to say about their meals that I booked it for our upcoming trip just so I can try it for myself.

Just wanted to add to what Colleen27 said.. DH had the Butcher Steak and it was not good..very stringy (more like pot roast) and the sauce was not that great...but I had the Shrimp Pasta - Bow tie pasta and sauteed shrimp tossed with artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives, baby spinach and feta cheese - and I have to say it was fantastic...not sure if I was just in the mood for it or what, but it was excellent! :)

Thanks, I have ben to sci fi but it was probably 8 years ago. I recall it being very dark whicvh I was concerned about with having to help and cut food for little one. Ill have a look at their menu and may give it a try

Sadly, we feel that the table service restaurants at DHS leave much to be desired. The 50's PT and Sci-Fi are entertainment experiences, and the food seems to be an afterthought. (Understanding that, we regularly enjoy both.) Mama Melrose is mediocre italian, and the BD is a pleasant looking venue with spotty food (yes, even the famous Cobb salad). :sad2:
Whenever possible, we take the launch over to one of the 5 resorts on Crescent Lake; any one of their restaurants are far better!!

Here's my quick run down...

Mama Melrose - OK, but nothing special. We have restaurants like this at home. No big thrill.

Hollywood & Vine - like the character breakfast especially now that Agent Oso and Handy Manny are there. Breakfast food was good. Lunch and Dinner, food not so good.

50s Prime Time - I liked the theme and the food at lunch. Not too much kidding around but a little bit of fun. Love the milkshakes. Will definitely return again!

SciFi Diner - Fun for DS to sit in the cars and watch the movie clips but it's the same clips in 2010 that we saw in 2009. Food is so, so.... but the burgers, reuben sandwich, fries and onion rings were fine. The rest, I could skip. Probably not coming back.

Brown Derby - Really enjoyed the food and will definitely return since we like the fantasmic package. We don't care for the alternatives (MM, H&V) for the fantasmic package. Had some nice appetizers, black grouper entree, and I liked the filet too! (We ate here twice.....)
