I managed to speak to someone yesterday who had been to Port Aventura.

They went as a family of 4 with teenagers and thought it was brilliant. Stayed in the resort hotel which has direct walking access to the park and water park. On site guests get front line access to all rides or fast pass [depending on time of year]. They spent a full week at the hotel - went to Barcelona one day, Salou another [a 10 minute walk] and spent the rest of the time in the park. Loads of shows apparantly and the Dragon Kahn coaster which I would go to Spain for itself.

However I have looked on Tripadviser and some have complained about the hotel and it's staff. Dunno, I feel tripadviser and its like brings out the worst in people...moan, moan, moan.

Anyway, I'm going to look into this further...

I have been to Port Aventura when we drove 2,000 miles round spain in the summer of 2003. There a few on site hotels and we stayed at the closest and I could not fault it. We liked this theme park as it stayed open late and we really enjoyed going back to theme park in the evening when the temperatures cooled down. We only stayed three nights at this resort which we thought was enough and we did include a day trip to Barcelona

We also liked Parc Asterix and stayed in the on-site hotel here which we liked too.

Now we are DVC members we are hoping to go to WDW every year and have a second holiday in Europe. DH would love to go skiing again. Which is ideal at this time of year.
