Where else to go in Florida??

Hi Everybody! We just got back from the most amazing trip to WDW during the March Break. So, since we did just about everything, my husband and I(no kids yet ) are planning for next March Break. Does anybody have any suggestions as to where we should go and stay that is comparable to Disney? We were thinking Universal, but we are get uo and go kind of people, and actually didn't care too much for Hollywood Studios show attractions. We would like to do more snorkeling next time. Thanks for any advice given!

I was looking through tripadvisor.com the other day. It has attractions rated by its users. Try some other Florida cities and click the "Things to do" bar on the left. You're bound to find something interesting..

The Salvidor Dali museum in St Petersburg is awesome. Real neat gift shop too.

BIL when diving would always rant about the Key Largo area.

Don't compare Hollywood studios with Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. They are not similar. Universal and IOA are very much get up and go parks. Many more thrills and spills than Disney.

We went to Disney Mar '07 and thought to do something different this year, so we rented a house in Fort Myers Beach. It was great! The beach was fantastic and packed with things to do from parasailing, jet ski's, beach volleyball, banana boating and the night life - though we didn't experience first hand, two small kids - looked like it was happening as well. It reminded me of my pre-unversity trip to Daytona beach. It was very different from Disney but fantastic none the less. We went for 10 days and spent 2 in Tampa Bay and did the Busch Gardens thing. It was good, but does not compare to Disney. There's also a water park across the road from Busch Gardens. Renting a house was a great option as well because we had all of the amenities of living in a home and it was less expensive that staying in a hotel for the week. The house was fully equiped from kitchen, to bbq, to laundry and swimming pool. I'd be happy to give more info if you are interested - just pm me.

Thank you so much for all of the info. Yes, I would appreciate any contact numbers for renting a house- that would be great! I think that I will look into Universal b/c since this posting I have checked out more websites on it. I will be checking out trip advisor too! Great tip! Thanks for the web-links, I'm going to spend some more time researching everything. At first I as thinking Key Largo, and then a friend of mine ranted about St, Petersberg. Just keep the info. coming! Again, it is all very much appreciated!

Well for a change of pace I bought dh the dolphin adventure swim at Discovery Cove for his Birthday and then we are also doing that and Aquatica in a couple weeks. In December we are doing Busch Gardens and Aquatica with the kids. We will try and squeeze a little day trip to Siesta Key in there. There just seems to be a never ending list of things to do in Florida

I second Discovery Cove if you can do it. You can snorkel all day. I have heard the tours at Seaworld are good too - and relatively inexpensive as well.

we are on our way back from a great two week vacation no Disney been there done that
we did universal studios(stayed onsite) spend two nights at downtown disney(shopping and outlets) went to Sawgrass Mills overnight(largest outlets in Floirda) key largo for two nights great spot (Marina Del Mar) and ended at fort lauderdale beach Lots of things to do

A few things we've done (besides Disney) on our trips to Florida:

- have your pictire taken on the back of a live gator at the venerable Gatorland (good for a half-day)

- shopping at the Florida Mall

- see everything at Kennedy Space Center

- see manatees and eagles at Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge (an amazing day)

- take a simulated moonwalk at U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, Titusville

- visit historic St. Augustine and drink from the Fountain of Youth (an overnighter)

- ride Spriderman at Universal/IOA (tip: stay on one of their on-site hotels for a few nights - the cost is worth their 'front of the line' perk for park attractions)

- see the Cirque du Soleil show (La Nouba) at Downtown Disney (well worth the price)

I can give you details on any of this stuff if you like.

One of my docotr's loves US/IOA better than Disney. He's always after me to try it out.
Can you let me know what you found disappointing?
I know that I can't go back to Canada's Wonderland since going to Disney.
