Where ELSE do you go on vacation?

Egypt was my favorite vacation to date. I had high expectations and they were all exceeded. I enjoy visiting places that take me out of my comfort zone and show me a world I've never seen any part of before.

No trip report is planned (although I did take almost 400 pictures, lol).

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Let me know if you do share any pictures somewhere!!
We took a break from Disney this year and spent 5 days in NYC instead over Thanksgiving, it was the best vacation we have ever taken. We did a ton of sightseeing, the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade, and shopping, while staying right in Times Square.

My wife said last night she wants to stop Disney vacations now and do other things since our NYC trip was so enjoyable.

That's what we want to do, too! Do you have kids? Just wondering how it is getting around with them? I don't want to haul a car seat for cabs..so we would rely on the subway.

I would go to Cozumel. Great sightseeing on land, and under water there. Relatively inexpensive hotels can be found there as opposed to the rest of the Caribbean. It is Mexico... though.

Belize is a nice secondary option, although I don't know how the flights work out to get down that way anymore are. It might be much more expensive to actually get there than stay there.

Our most recent Non-Disney trips have been, Maui and DC. We have done two DC trips in the last 5 or 6 years. My uncle lives in Arlington so we don't have to pay for a place to stay ( or much food either for that matter) so that makes for a fairly inexpensive vacation for us. I would like to do a long weekend up in South Dakota, but I have to talk DH into it.

National Parks.

I absolutely love visiting National Parks out West. :)

This past year, we went to Washington D.C. (between last Christmas and New Year), Sanibel Island in Florida, and I just got back from a week in Paris in October. We love Sanibel; very old Florida, bike everywhere, walk the beach and collect shells, go to Ding Darling wildlife preserve. It's totally laid-back, no highrises. You see dolphins and manatees. Very relaxing. Paris was amazing and I can't wait to go back, plus see more of Europe.

We spent two weeks this past summer on Hilton Head Island and loved it! Gorgeous beaches and wonderful bike paths all over the island.

My parents just moved to Bluffton which is the next town over, so we are now planning a trip back over Feb. break to visit them instead of Disney and are also planning on going back this summer again.

Since we live in Mass., it is a big trip for us.

Lots to see and do in the area....Charleston and Savannah are great and not too far.

Highly recommend it!

California (Palm Springs, San Diego), Phoenix, Banff, Myrtle Beach for golfing, Marco Island in Florida, Naples also in Florida, St. Louis, Wisconsin Dells, cabins/resorts in northern MN, Washington, DC., New Jersey shore/Cape May, Kansas City (for a golf team trip :lmao:), Ozarks in Arkansas, Vail/Beaver Creek in Colorado.

Thinking of visiting there this summer.

Destin, Florida - a piece of Heaven on Earth. My husband and I are waffling on retiring to either there or a nice piece of acreage in rural Tennessee (although I pointed out we could be snow birds;))

Trips on my list....

probably Stone Mountain, GA this summer (cheapest and closest)

In no particular order:

Disney Cruise

San Antonio, TX

Williamsburg, VA

Washington D. C.

Washington State

Alaska cruise

New York, NY

San Diego, CA

and to go to Disney, as much as possible!

We love to travel so we have been to many places besides Disney.

We have travelled in and through Europe on many occasions and have taken the kids to:
Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Austria, England, Spain, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia,, Slovenia, Slovakia, Andorra, Luxembourg and Belgium.

Germany, Denmark and Spain are the countries we have returned to on more than one occasion.
This year we´re hoping to go to Italy and maybe Croatia and Germany or France and Italy on a road trip.

We also love traveling in the US and have visited NYC a few times and driven from NYC to Orlando, staying in Washington DC on the way for a few days. We also did a trip to California and Nevada a few years ago which was awesome. We´d love to do a road trip from coast to coast at some point.

DH and I travelled through China (Beijing, Xi´an, Kunming and Xi Shuan Ban Na) 13 years ago and would love to go back with the kids some day.

However, South Africa and Vietnam are further up on my list for a "big" trip!

We did NYC with our 4 kids when they youngest two were 2 and 5 years old (our youngest son wasn´t born then). We took the subway or walked everywhere and had an AMAZING time.

Kiawah is another great beach spot for families. It's about 40 miles north of Hilton Head. I grew up going to Hilton Head every year. (tough life:rotfl2:) And Kiawah reminds me of the old Hilton Head- before it got so built up.

That being said, we are thinking about heading south to Captiva this year. The resort looks beautiful and it seems like a great relaxing trip. But I'll be watching this thread for more ideas. Keep them coming.
