Where DON'T You Bring Your Kids?

I wrote a thread yesterday asking about restaurants for my birthday dinner where we'd rather not be surrounded by children. Now, for the rest of my trip, I will have our boys with us when we dine. They will be 10, 8 and 5 at the time, and are fairly well behaved with the exception of speaking too loudly once in a while, lol.

Anyway, what are the table service restaurants that you avoid with your kids, or that they aren't as "welcomed" at? Last time at Disney my youngest was only one, so the fanciest we got was the rainforest cafe, lol. I know about V & A's, but what about the rest? Where do they NOT have a kids menu? THANKS!!!

Remember that it's Disney so kids/families of all ages are welcome at the restaurants. I doubt you'll find a "kid-free" restaurant at Disney.

That being said, your best chances of finding a restaurant with less kids will probably be V&A or one of the high-end signature restaurants. Just remember, there will likely be kids there too, just not as many as you'll find everywhere else.

We eat at all the signature restaurants and I have taken my children to Jiko, Cal Grill, Yachtsman, Artist Point, Flying Fish, Citricos, etc. on numerous occasions. The only places I can think of where kids are less welcome are Shula's and Bistro de Paris (which may not have a kid's menu). Other than that, kids are welcome everywhere.

Shula's does not have a kids menu and they seem to be discouraged at Blue Zoo. Otherwise, people will take their kids anywhere at Disney (ours are going on nine and ten and I'd take them anywhere now but V&As and I'm one of the 'kids should be in appropriate places' people).

If your five year old will not sit through a several hour long meal (or your older kids are prone to sulking through them), then avoid signature places - the meals are longer and more expensive - meaning more time for complaints at a higher cost to you. But plenty of kids do fine at those places.

Actually.....V&A is now kid-free.....they no longer allow children (i.e under 10) to dine there. Started in March or April I think.

We take DD 5 everywhere. She does excellent in nice restaurants. Of course we wouldn't take her to V&A but that's not only because they don't allow young children, but because I have no desire to eat there.

Shula's has no children's menu. I don't remember if their were other children there or not, but we took DD last year with us when she was four. But its very nice and I think you would see less children there. It's also quite pricey which would also deter people from bringing children. DD just shared my steak and stuff with me and was fine.

At CA Grill and Yachtsman we have always seen children and families. Even before DD it never bothered us though. Most people are aware of where they are and will tend to their children accordingly. We are quick to let DD know if she is talking a little too loud or being a little too bouncy or something.

This trip I want to do Jiko's and I'm considering Artist Pointe and we will take DD with us to both of those.

While I have no problem with kids being at the restaurants, I probably wouldn't take my children to a signature dining restaurant. But that's more because my son is still young (3 1/2). My DD would be okay. But he'd get stir-crazy and I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself! lol

We are not taking our kids to Citricos...that is DH and I's "date night" away from the kids. They are staying at the Neverland Club which I guarantee they'll like much better anyway!

V & A's, Shulas & Bistro de Paris. I might not take my kids to the High Tea. I try to take the kids to places they would enjoy & consider how long meals take at the Signature places. 2 of my favorites are Chefs de France & Brown Derby.

Now childless but with two grandkids. It's really up to you where you feel comfortable taking your kids.

I'd take my 10 year old granddaughter anywhere for a meal at Disney World. She's nice and quiet and it content to draw or color or speak to the adults.

Now, my 2 year old grandson, no. And not just because he's two. He's a moving and a shaker. His favorite thing to do is jump out of the high chair whenever an adult is near. The longest he will sit still for is 30 minutes to watch a cartoon but only when there isn't anything else going on. Any other person in sight will cause him to want to play. He's Mr. Wiggles.
