Where does the banana boat go

Ok a strange question...right? Not really....

Where do you get on the banana boat and where is does it take you?

Family beach? Adult beach?
:confused3

When you get off the ship and head toward the beach either by foot or tram you will see an area before the family that has all the water craft. That is where we went for the banana boat. They take you out beyond the ship and just pull you through waves...it was fun and pretty bumpy. I would not sunscreen your legs before the ride as it made it more slippery and harder to stay on. You sit on it like you would sit on a horse and if I can remember there were two sections side by side and held about 4 people on each section. You must wear a life vest that they provide.

Oh no. I have to sunscreen my whole body. I do not tan, I burn to a crisp and our time is for later in the day. I did not want to fall off.

I figured the area yo mentioned is where you get on at. I guess I can sit in the middle or front and maybe I will stay on better (?).

I meant don't sunscreen the backs/inside of your legs while riding (they aren't exposed to sun while you are sitting, anyway. The ride is not too long so I would not worry about your legs getting burned.

Here is a pic on my DD as she was waiting for our BBR. Each side of the BB can hold up to five people. The ride lasts about 20 minutes, or longer if you get flipped over like we did, on the way back to the beach, LOL!!!

This photo was taken after we turned around and headed back to the beach.

A few seconds later, this photo was taken after we were flipped off the BB.

Ok, this may be a silly question but....What happens if you get thrown off the banana boat? Do you get back on?

Yep, you just climb back on and finish the ride!!! A word of advice, don't wear anything on the BBR that you don't want to lose. I forgot to take my glasses off before getting on the BBR, they are now at the bottom of the ocean. :rotfl:

If you climb back on I take it the water is not deep where you are riding at. I really do not want to fall off. Oh heck, what I thought would be fun and have always wanted to do is now turning into something I am not to sure about. My luck the sharks will get me or I will drown trying to get back on. Or better yet lose part of my bathing suit. :rotfl2:

You don't have to worry about drowning because everyone must have a life vest on, see the photo of my DD I posted. I'm guessing the water might be about 6-8 feet where we flipped off, at least that's how deep it appeared to me as I could see the bottom rather clearly, and that was without my glasses.

I am really not a daring person. But this use to look like fun. :rotfl:
I can swim and normally quite well. I bet it will be like when I was 5 and had to go off the diving board the first time.

LOL!!! I haven't heard of anyone being left behind yet, and not all rides flip over either. I think what did our ride in was the fact that we had more kids then adults on our BB and they kept telling the drivers, flip us, flip us. I did notice just before we went in the drink that the boat that was pulling us make a sharp turn to the right, the next thing I knew I was grabbing for my DD (who was sitting in front of me) because she was already on the way off the BB. It was a BLAST, and we are looking forward to doing it again!!!

Do you wait until the day of to reserve a time for the banana boat or is this done brfore the trip? :confused3

We booked our BBR the day the ressies opened, but I've heard others say that you can book onboard or even the day you are at CC, if there is availablilty. I just wanted to make sure we had a spot because there weren't many things my DD wanted to do, but this was one of them she did want to do, and I wanted to keep my teenager happy, LOL!!!

Thanks for the info! My sister thinks I am crazy but I think I will try it. How old do you have to be to go on the bb? My daredevil niece and nephew would probably love it!

According to the DCL Excursion Booklet I have here in front of me:

Guests must be 8 years and older and be able to swim. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

We booked ours as well on the day the ressies opened up. I had read, yes on here, that the banana boat sales out. I really wanted to do this excursion so I booked ASAP.

Thanks! They will be 8 years old at the time of the cruise. Now if their parents let them, that will be another story. Do you have to be a strong swimmer or do you think a beginner could handle it?
