Where does everyone find these prices?

Hi all,
We are planning to head back in January. We have always stayed onsite but are looking at making this a more budget trip. I hear everyone talking about getting a condo for $400 for a week but I can't find anything like that. How is everyone finding these prices? I've looked at WBC and haven't found anything under $100 night. So my thought is to just stay on property at one of the AllStars.
So, what am I missing??

Everyone is not finding deals like that all of the time. They find them some of the time if they are lucky and patient. Prices have also been trending up along with the economy.

$400 a week is super-low and more of a luck thing if someone is dumping a condo at the last minute. Unless I had stayed there before or knew what I was getting, I would be leery of anyplace I could rent for $400 a week.

The chances you're going to find someone dumping a place at 8 months out is zero.

There are no 2 bedroom villas at the all-stars available for $100 a night like you can sometimes find at WBC. Comparing a tiny motel room at the all-stars to WBC or a condo is not the same.

If all your family needs for space is a tiny room, then there is nothing wrong with the all-stars.

Here's what you'll be missing out on if you pick the all-star room over the WBC room:

Having your own kingsize bed while the kids sleep in their own room -- in their own beds.

Having a full kitchen complete with stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and blender.

Having a full-size living room and 2 bathrooms, plus 3 TVs.

Having a washer and dryer in your room that's free to use.

A resort that has hot tubs, lazy rivers and pool slides.

On the other hand, if you stay at the all-stars you do get cool theming, a food court, free busses to the parks and free parking at the parks.

Make sure you aren't checking WBC's website for pricing…it will be very high. You should get a quote from Vacation Strategy or Vacation Upgrades and you will get a better price. We have used VS to book our last 2 vacations.

when i've gotten 2BR/2BA villas for $350-400 for 7 night stays, it's been because i own a timeshare and have access to cheap getaways or special deals through Interval International. That is usually offseason (mid-May or November) and never during the summer or holiday periods when school is out, and even then, the offers come and go...

I got a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo for 13 nights for $1250 at windsor hills for 2015. This is during easter so I'm sure it would be easy to get something in january for less than that.

I have used skyauction for years. Next trip is in October, 2 bedroom timeshare for 2 weeks, $500. Wyndham Cypress Palms.
Been there many, many times, love it.

We went in Nov of last year and stayed at Palisades Resort (14200 Avalon Rd - I think there are 2 with a similar name). We paid about $95 per night (including tax & resort fees). The rooms were really condos and they were huge - 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen/living room/dining area. We saved $$ by eating some meals at home. The rooms/condos are great but the resort is basic. It did have a pool and a "movie theatre" for the kids. I would recommend it, especially if you are on a budget. We also found some great rates on Mousesavers. Hope this helps!

Vacation Central Florida has phenomenal rates. They would rather fill their rooms at cheaper prices than let them sit empty. They have condos and townhomes in Windsor Hills. You can sign up for their emails. They have a lot of last minute deals. Their base rate though for a 2 bedroom condo is $399/wk + tax and cleaning fee.

I've used SkyAuction. My current reservation is just before Christmas for a 2 bedroom for 7 nights for $619 total ($88 per night). They also have a 3 bedroom on their site for $1100.00 for 7 nights with July dates if you book in next few days.

They do "buy it now" and "auction". Always scroll down to see all fees because on auctions there is usually a taxes/fees added which can add up. On all there will be surcharges for popular dates so read the fine print. Last time I booked I did an auction, won it for $1 plus the $299 taxes/fees and the $20 Sky Auction fee = $320 for a 1 bedroom for a week in December. Had a great condo overlooking the lake.

The prices often depend on the time of year that you're booking. I've always been able to find 2-bedroom condos close to Disney for $200 to $300 per week, but that has always been in September, October, or May. I use Resort Vacation Certificates (buy the "certificate from Skyauction - current price $239.99 plus $20 fee) and then go to the RVC site to book. Or you can go to the sister site of RVC - Endless Vacation Rentals. Here you just book the property directly without using a "certificate." You can do a search to look for discount codes for this site (search "Endless Vacation Rentals promo code").

For some reason the price and availability for January are not always so great, but if you keep looking you might find a bargain. It's difficult to get Wyndham Bonnet Creek for under $500, but I did get it for $570 (tax inclusive 7 night stay in a 2-bedroom condo) for this September and October by using the EVR site.

Right now it looks like EVR has has Sheraton Vistana Resort listed for many dates in January at a decent price. This place is comparable to WBC in quality, though it is a little further from Disney than WBC.

I booked a house in Venetian Bay Villages for $350 in October. I had originally planned for July and the price then was $470 for everything. I went to home a way and search for homes and condos for the price point your looking for. I booked my July trip 9 Mons in advance. There is Crestwynd Bay next to WH. The prices I found for most of there properties were under $500 a week.

I booked a week at Wyndham Cypress Palms in October. 2 Bedrooms, 7 nights, $209 total. ResortCerts was having a sale on certificates in April.

We booked 7 nights at Marriott Harbor Lake - 2 bedroom unit for $600 total. We are going with friends so we split. Purchased a Getaway through Interval International. I'm glad to find all this info on this thread to rent condos directly. That's some great deals!

These are the ones I hear of the most:

I. They get certificates from Sky Auction

II. They own Timeshare and so can get deals through RCI or Interval International.

III. Renting direct from the owner (Ebay, newspaper listings, friends)

IV. Rent from the owner through some system like VRBO or Vacation Strategies.

With the first two, it's a lot easier to get great deals offseason; it's also cheaper offseason with the last two, but the difference there doesn't seem to be as great. The best summer or Christmas holiday deals I've heard of were renting from owners one way or another, for instance. We've done methods II and III and gotten some pretty good deals.

This company only rents Saturday to Saturday and it was $1004.66 for the week. They have 2 and 3 bedroom condos for less. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely use them again.

ETA: I just went and looked at the website. They have several condos for around 400.00 for the week in July. Also the townhouse we rented is about 600.00 for the week. These prices include the cleaning fees and taxes.

Yes...last minute deals from vacationcentralflorida! We just booked a last minute trip and got a 2br condo for $250/week (with cleaning and taxes totaled $380)! It's our second time booking with them!

we joined vacation central floridas email list and receive updates all the time. We are booked for our first stay at WH in a 2 bedroom condo for $199 for the sat-sat week, with taxes and cleaning fee total is $310. The resort pool will be closed for refurb which is why rates were even lower than the usual deals. We may luck out I think tho as we get may get 3 days b4 the actual closing of the pool..ahh who am I kidding? We'll be in the parks lol.
I hear amazing things on Bonnet Creek to tho and would love to stay there, (Condos look just like Bella Sera in Naples FL to me)but they weren't able to match the rate at WH.
