Also Alamo coupon AD5196JDV which is used with it ? I know it has been mentioned on Fatwallet but what is it a coupon for? Thank you:) :drive: :)

I just tried the 7014266 code and I couldn't belive the savings, where did this come from?

That is a use at your own risk code. Meaning not meant for everyone and there is a chance you will be asked about it when picking up the car. Most of the really good codes are. I read somewhere that it's for a South American travel agency?

just used this code for feb 21-28.

we were thinking of renting a car but was geting rates from 300-700 dollars for the week.

with this coupon got a rate of 108 including taxes for the week.

great code

i alos called to make sure all was ok with the code and was told it was just a regular web code from their site.

great job, thanks

I sure hope this is a legit code, gave me a great rate for April!!! Guess I will keep my other reservation just in case, but I sure hope this works!! Thanks for the number!!

Thanks for the tip. I called Alamo prior to booking online and was told the same thing. "It's a code that can be used without any problems". So, let's hope they are correct.

Wow, I just got an incredibly great rate with that code.

Hopefully, other DISers will check in periodically to this thread and let us know if you were able to use this code or not!

WOW! No only does it give an incredible rate, it includes an additional driver and CDW (Collision Damage Waiver). This does sound "too good to be true" but I'm going to try it anyway...

We don't arrive until March, so anyone going sooner, please let us know if this turns out to be a bad move....

I too, tried that code and got an incredible deal. It included the collision, unlimited mileage and the additional driver. For a minivan 2 weeks mid August, $587. If I tried the same reservation with a military discount, it comes to $1,460:scared: .

I keep hearing about these South American codes and I know people from Britain can get deals too. Does anyone know if there are any special codes for those in Europe, or how I can search codes offered to those living outside America? Maybe they think I should only want to go to Disneyland Paris :confused3

National does 'passport rates' for UKMEA residents. They do check at MCO that one holds a passport from these countries, and their terms and conditions also note that if one cannot show a valid passport they will change to a full daily rate.

I haven't rented from Alamo in a very long time at MCO, but I do recall having to show my passport as well to confirm a rate with them.

If you don't hold an EU passport, you could log into the local language site and see if you get better deals. Both National and Hertz rates vary based on country selected (but for those trying to get a good deal, note that they also have stipulations that you must be able to provide residency at time of booking, which Sleepy could of course do)

Thanks Bavaria. I will give that a try. I don't have an EU passport, just American. However, I do hold residency and have an Italian driver's license. A better rate may or may not work in my favor. We get paid in American dollars, so if something comes up "cheaper", the exchange rate might kill me.

Ok, just gave it a try and seems the currency conversion is done in the check out process with Alamo, so did not end up being as I thought. Anyway, EVERYTHING was included but an additional driver. Overall, the rate was a very good rate at $842 American, while the rate without this discount ran $1,400 and included only unlimited mileage. I currently have a reservation for $777 that includes additional driver and mileage. My personal insurance covers same thing the other rate covers.

You should be able to get a rate quote in American dollars and pay directly at the rental agency in American dollars. I also use www.expedia.de when booking but of course there you do have to prepay and there is a cancellation fee.

For German car rentals, for instance, there is a huge price difference quite often when booking on the hertz.de vs the hertz.com site. I was renting almost every week over the summer and the difference was often a few hundred Euros on a weekend rental.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I should say so! WOW, I am finding a great amount of savings and it includes EVERYTHING. National has an amazing rate on a minivan! You are awesome to share this info with me!

Glad that it is working!! It's nice to finally get to have SOME benefit to not living in America ie finally finding something a little bit cheaper than the high prices we are used to paying....

So true. :cool1: The exchange rate has really hammered us.

This vacation keeps looking better and better as time goes by. Got what I considered to be a fantastic deal on a roundtrip with Lufthansa this summer. Less than $1,000! I paid way more than that in years past.

Sorry to take this thread off topic  . Back to the regularly scheduled program already in progress.

I hope anyone going in February will keep us posted about this code. When I called Alamo and said I was a US resident, they said there would not be a problem using this code. So, hopefully we have been given the correct info.

no flaming to u, this is jmho:

The surest way to kill any 'off the beaten path type' of code is to call the provider:sad2:

(fyi, im not using it, better rates for my dates w/WM)

if not eligible for a code (nor a gambling sorta peep:rolleyes: ); why not just stick to the generic ones u can find on many different sites (mousesavers, etc.):confused3
