My DD11 is still very much a girly girl with clothes. She loves pink frills. She has a few outfits picked out from justice. I really hate that store! The clothes are not well made and aren't all that cheap considering. But she still loves it.

Last year she had her perfect back to school outfit, all pink with bows and lace. We get to the bus stop and another girl made a comment that she hates justice because its too girly girl. I could see DD's face drop but she shook it off. She says she doesn't care but does admit other kids call her girly girl a lot.

I love that she still wants to be "cute" and not "sexy". She hates jeans and refuses to wear them. She wears leggins with skirts. My MIL is constantly buying her walmart jeans. the basic kind with no sparkles or anything. DD hates them and asks why grandma wants her to be a boy.

I do not want to change her but i want to help guide her to fit in at school. I have noticed when I take her to functions she is dressed a lot different. Most the girls are in tee shirts and jeans. or hoodies and jeans.

so where do your girls shop?

On a limited basis at Justice (HATE that store and think it "sexes up" little girls). What we buy there is heavily monitored.

She likes some stuff at The Children's Place (shirts, mainly).

Crazy 8, Aero (just now starting to fit there), some 77 Kids and JCPenney.

She's 10 and going into 5th grade.

When dd was that age, just a couple of years ago, she loved Justice, but we did most of our shopping at Target. :thumbsup2 Even though we now live over 2 hours one way from the closest Target, we still occasionally shop there.

My DD is 12 and likes some Justice stuff but thinks much of it is too pink/sparkly/girly (as if that was a bad thing! ;)). I'm not sure what could be considered "sexy" at Justice. Her best friend is more of a girly girl and still buys a lot of her clothes there. This friend also loves Lands End dresses.

Since my daughter decided she's no longer a pink sparkly girly girl, her favorite stores are Kohls, American Eagle, and Aeropostale. She also recently discovered Wet Seal, thanks to her older cousins. You do have to pick through a LOT of stuff, but you can find some clothing that appropriate for tweens there. Target and JC Penney are good as well.

Right now - Justice. But that will probably end with oldest by end of year. I can still get away with Children's Place for jeans. Kohl's, Macy's (sales only) and Target work too.

I am so not ready for American Eagle and Aeropostale. :lmao:

I don't think my dd11 has ever step foot into Justice.

Aero, Delia's, Kohls, American Eagle, Macy's, Target

Old Navy is another one to try.

My DD went through a phase of hating jeans, but not because she's a girly girl. Basically she just couldn't find any that fit her the way she wanted. So I'm very familiar with the long tunics over leggings look!

DD just turned 12 and this will be her first year in a school that doesn't require uniforms. She is excited for school shopping, but she's very small for her age and can't shop where some of her friends do.

She will shop at Justice occasionally, mostly for plain basics (tanks, shorts, etc - nothing that says Justice on it) and swimsuits.

We've been buying a lot of her clothes at Gap (Kids) and Old Navy. She also picked out a few t-shirts at Abercrombie (Kids). She's still a bit too small for Aeropostale, so we shop at PS Kids.

She used to like Lands End, but not anymore. We do occasionally find some cute things at Target too.

My 10yo loves Justice buy most of her stuff comes from
Old Navy...it's cheap and it is age appropriate.

When my DD(14) was that age she shopped at the same places she does now- Walmart, Thrift Stores, Ross and Target.

Target, Justice & Hot Topic (mostly for tshirts & accessories). Occasionally Macys or Dillards but that's only if its on deep sale. She also loves thrift stores. I've got a girly girl too who is currently on a headbow kick. The bigger the better.

Just a suggestion (that may take this thread in a totally different direction). My 11YO has become interested in the Japanese fashion style called 'Lolita' (it has nothing to do with the book). The 'sweet' version of this style is very frilly & girly. If you could find a Loli group that would be willing to have her in their group (the one I'm familiar with does a mix of all ages & 18 or 21+ events) that might be a way for her to express her frilly girliness with others who love it as much as she does.

My 12YOP shops mainly at Aero, Gap, Khols and Target. She's pretty casual. She likes her jeans and her bermuda shorts. Her shirts vary. She has polos, tshirts, button down blouses, sweaters, etc. She doesn't like girly girl stuff, but she certainly doesn't dress like a boy. Very few girls in her class wear frilly bows and lace. Justice and Penny's and maybe Macy's are probably the best places for that style. Aero has a little, but not much. Personally, I like Aero because you can always find good stuff there on clearance, and it's not too revealing.:cool1:

I hate this age. Clothes are important and so many girls buy into the whole "this is the RIGHT brand to wear" nonsense. DD12 is currently wearing Abercrombie, Holister, and juicy couture (yuk). I will say the clothes are better made than Justice (which she will not go into).

BTW, she actually would prefer to be be wearing nothing but black from Hot Topic, but her current social "role" will not allow this. I hate middle school with a passion!

My DD is 10. She is in junior sizes
We shop at Kohl's, Sears, Target, Aero, JCP, and TJ MAxx

When my DD(14) was that age she shopped at the same places she does now- Walmart, Thrift Stores, Ross and Target.
:worship: Same here, we love the Goodwill. We shop at Plato's Closet when splurging.
DD does wear a uniform so school clothes are easy.

When she was 10 she liked Justice, now won't go near it.
She also likes Kohls

My dd still shops at Justice, but only for basics like camis and plain denim shorts. She is 13 but still fits into some girls sizes.
When she was 11/12 she went through a phase where she wanted "outfits" so we did do some shopping at Justice, JCP, Macys and Kohls and got cute tops and matching bottoms. That didn't last long before all she wanted to wear was jeans, and tees & hoodies from Aero and Hollister because thats what all the girls at school were wearing. I wouldn't go too crazy shopping for your dd yet, you might find after the first week or 2 of school she will want to wear what everyone else does. If she doesn't, then good for her for not wanting to be like everyone else :thumbsup2

We mainly shop at Gap, Old Navy and Nordstrom Girl's department (not as expensive as you might think when they have sales/clearance).

My daughter is 10 and grew about of the girly look about 2 years ago. Her best friend still wears clothes like your daughter (lots of pink and sparkly) so I think it's just part of her style.

Gap has cut Ts with embellishments that are feminine but a little less girly.

Unless it is really bothering her, I would not try to change her style. I may shop around at a lot different stores to get her to see and try on new things. But I kind of like when people know how they are and what they want to wear.

I love the Harper character on Wizard's of Waverly place. She has some crazy and fun outfits.

Justice--But only for outfits appropriate for A tween and not a tween trying to be 16.

Hannah Andersson--my girls love the comfy but cute and casual clothes. Fun styles. I am not sure how well it would be received in 6th grade. We haven't had an issue, but we homeschool.

Kohl's--found some cute stuff. My tween flips back and forth between heading Bohemian and girly girl. Her Easter outfit was not the frilly Easter norm, but that dressy, casual look. (style and color while not totally Bohemian, leaned that way).

Target--hit or miss, but they like the Disney collection which now features styels from that dance show, Step It Up. We have not actually purchased anything, yet--but they like it. They also like the casual clothes.

We also still like Gap for some things but mostly buy it on consignment.

But they will wear most anything if it fits their style requirements and my age appropriate/modesty requirements. (no ultra short anything, exposed midriff or low cut tops. And if the style looks more suited for an older teen, I steer them clear of it.))
