Where do your toddlers sleep when you travel?

Our DS will be almost 3 when we go and we have requested a "crib" which is actually a Pack n Play at POP. So we are going to try that even though he sleeps in a toddler bed at home. He will probably be so pooped by the end of the day, he won't care. I'm trying to avoid having him in bed with me because he is either moving around or cuddled up right next to me making me sweat. Needless to say, I don't get much sleep with him in bed with me.

Once he is a little older, we will try the ready bed thing. Those things seem like a really good idea, especially if it features a character that DS is crazy about.

When we went to WDW with DS at age 2 1/2, my mom came with us. DS still moved around a lot when he slept. We actually found a nice, out of the way spot on the floor and used the extra blankets and pillows and made him a bed. Mousekeeping noticed what we did and actually "made" his bed with his very own comforter each day. That was at the WL. At first I was concerned about him being on the floor until DH reminded me that the pack n play's are actually less thick than the little bed we made for him on the floor!!

We went back to WDW this January and DS was 3 1/2. He slept in his own bed this time because it was just the three of us...no grandma. We didn't even need bed rails. He doesn't move around much anymore and the bed was so big he did fine.

I would never allow my dd to sleep on the floor in a hotel, but she is a restless sleeper so she would literally be all over the room if we did. I just find it way beyond gross.

We have rented a toddler bed from abbf.com and definetly it is well spent money.

If your child still sleeps in a crib at home, rent a full size crib from abbf, if your child sleeps in a toddler bed, get a toddler bed, and if your child sleeps in a regular bed and doesn´t move, sleep with him/her in the bed and just request a bedrail as a precaution.

Thanks for the suggestions about renting a crib or toddler bed - I don't know why I didn't even think about it before especially at WDW!!! DS hasn't been in a pack and play since Sept. but it was such a struggle to get him to sleep in it at all that I wouldn't even try it again even though it sounds like he wouldn't be too big for it. I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only one who spends a lot of time thinking of this though!

How about a twin aerobed. We have used ours at a few of the Disney hotels for either DD 5 or DD 8 and it worked well. We even managed to cram it into a king room at AKL - DH & I in the King, one DD on the fold out and one DD on the air mattress. I was able to put the aerobed in a suitcase and check it.

You might also try the blow-up kids mattresses; I'm not exactly sure what they are called but they seem to be the size of a toddler bed and not as thick as the twin aerobed.

DD2 either uses a PnP or a PeaPod which is like a small tent with an air mattress http://www.kidco.com/main.taf?p=4,5

We found ours at Shopko

By 23 mos. my children were both in regular twin beds. My son would have refused to be put back in a crib/pack-n-play but with my daughter, our family grew to 5 so we have experienced this a couple of times. We went on vacation (not Disney) last summer -- she would have been around 31 months and when presented with a crib, she thought it was great. She slept better in there than she had at home for a while. When we went to Disney in November, dd and dh slept in one bed and ds and I slept in the other. The children won't sleep together -- they play, talk, fight, etc. Dh and I are too used to our king bed and would have been uncomfortable together in a double bed. We had planned on me sleeping with dd but when bedtime came, she wanted with daddy and ds wanted with me. That's how we slept the entire trip (by the way, I got off with the easy sleeper - he doesn't move from the time his eyes close until he wakes - dd is all over the bed).

Disney does provide rails if you are uncomfortable with you children in a regular bed.

Right now, DD is 20 mos and sleeps with me when daddy isnt along. Otherwise she still sleeps in a Pack and Play. Shes a good sleeper so it doesnt both me. However, shes getting big now so I need something else.

When DS was a toddler and it was just me traveling with him, I often had him sleep with me for one or two nights. He is restless, so I didnt get much sleep. Once we got to where we were staying for several nights, I set up a toddler Aerobed. He still uses it today at 5. At first he wouldnt stay put in it, but that didnt last long. It is a great bed-rolled up in the bag its about the size of a sleeping bag. It inflates/deflates quickly. The middle of the bed is lower than the sides so he cant roll out of it easily.

The other thing we have for both kids are those ready beds. Theyre like sleeping bags but inflate. DD has one with bolsters on the sides, but she still rolls out of it. DS just used his at WDW in the rv the other week. He has also used it on cruises to give us more room in the cabin vs the pullout couch.

At WDW we never have a problem with the kids going to bed. Theyre usually asleep before we even get to the room! All the excitement wears them out. Do check out the Aerobed for toddlers though. Its a great investment for us as we travel a lot.

My hope is that we can put the trundle mattress between the 2 doubles, stuff the area around it with pillows and corral him in with suitcases. I'm so worried about him wandering the room at night.
The trundle bed at POR comes out on the side of the double bed near the door. Unless you are extremely heavy sleepers I would think that him wandering the room wouldn't be an issue. He probably will even be very tuckered out each night!

Our DS slept with dad after he fell off the daybed at Poly the first night. DD usually sleepd with me on vacation. This trip the kids can either sleep in one of the queens bed or one in the daybed. Our DS is 2 and sleeps in a McQueen twin bed since he was first turned 2. He would have alot of trouble sleeping in the Pak N play even when he was a little baby.

Once my son was too big for the pack n play he would sleep in his own bed. If we are at family's and there isn't a bed for him he will sleep on the couch or floor of bedroom where we are. Sometimes he will go to sleep in our bed, if we aren't in it, then I will move him. Depending on the space, etc. I cannot get a wink of sleep with him in my bed.

My daughter still sleeps in a crib (she's just over 2) and when we go to Disney, she will be in a bed with someone. When we are visiting our parents, she sleeps in a crib and my son either sleeps with grandparents or sleeps with us.

When we stayed at CSR this summer we requested a King room. We put the kids (ages 3 and 20 mos) on Ready Beds on either side of the bed. For our 20 mo old, we put the bedspread from the king bed on the floor so she wouldn't be directly touching the floor if she rolled off. For the 3 yr old we spread a bunch of towels out but she stayed in her bed.

This year we will be at the WL and will probably request bed rails and have the girls share a bed. If that doesn't work, we'll either make them their own bed on the floor (appropriately protected) or my DH and I will each sleep with one girl.
