Where do you think my friend's package is?

I have this long time pen pal who lives in a rural area on a farm in Prospect, Ohio. She's always received my letters and packages in a timeline manner until very recently. On July 18th I mailed her a package priority. Two days later on the 20th, it showed that it arrived to an agent for final delivery in Prospect. Since then there's been no update. Do you think the package was lost? Or the mail delivery person for the rural area is on vacation? I leave tomorrow for a week-long vacation. When I get back I plan on calling the post office in Prospect, Ohio. Until then I'm really going to wonder what's going on.

I've had 5 packages lost since 2020, all by USPS. Three were going to Japan (and I'm not counting the four or five that were delayed at least two months going there or coming here!); two of those were directly from the retailer, and one coming to me from DD#2. Two were from retailers coming to me. None have ever shown.

We've also lost a lot of mail; at least 3 credit cards have gone missing. We have informed delivery, and it shows that they are out for delivery but never make it here; this is at 2 different addresses over the last 2-1/2 years, so not the same carrier. I'm glad the banks let us know when they are sending new cards, because the day they don't show, I can contact them. At least one of those cards was stolen and attempted use, because the card company contacted us about it; we had to file a police report and everything over that one. I'm missing magazines, bills, junk mail...all sorts of things just poof.

I live in Maryland. But, everytime someone in Ohio sends me something, or I send something there,,it's like it gets lost in delivery for almost a month. No explanation why, even though we are each sending it priority mail. I have had 2 company's send out replacements, which I get, long before the originals ever showed up. I don't think the USPS likes Ohio :(

Lately we have had more things than reasonable lost in the middle of transit, flat out taken & even situations where the drivers report a thing delivered which is a flat out lie because I'm home all day and watching the door. About 2 years ago I watched a UPS driver load his contents into a waiting car so maybe this has something to do with it, pretty sure the screening process for these drivers is on the thin side, or maybe they are just so POd with workload they are trying to break the system.

I often consider all the odd things I see in tracking. Like, why is it my Macy's order needs to come from California, it's a bizarre way to fulfill an order? The unnecessary overwork on drivers is absurd with idiotic logistics no doubt a huge part of the problem, even a bird can deduce the path of least resistance is the best plan so logistics now is moving with literally less than birdbrain level intelligence.

@Disneyland1084, if you have a few minutes to get online and file a missing mail report with tracking number. That sometimes gets the ball rolling. Never hurts to try.

All of my USPS goes through Cincinnati Regional Facility and when it departs/arrives north, south, and west it moves expeditiously. When it goes east, it is almost guaranteed to take an extra day or four. I wonder if Ohio being in the "heart" is a choke point for mail to and from the east?

Honestly - I wouldn't wait another week if you are worried it's MIA, google the local number for the post office, have the tracking # with you, ask to speak to someone who can tell you where it's at, or if they can locate it. It'll take you just a few minutes.
And as FlyGirl suggested, file a missing pkg report.
