Where do you think Disney Dropped the Ball

Good and varied eating places in the park.
Universal has done a much better job at their food service: fairly reasonable prices, discounts allowed with APs or AAA cards, more variety, along with good and plentiful locations.
Except WS, the other Disney parks are lacking.

I've found really varied food in all of the parks. You can actually get discounts with your AP at quite a few places, esp. during lunch. :)

Sorry, WDW's new (introduced quietly in Jan '05) offer to AP holders -- you can join Disney's Dining Experience. $50 for the card for one-year & entitles you & those in your party (read the regs) to 20% discount at many-many WDW eateries!!! This kind of deal used to be available only to Florida residents.

For those who think that a trip to WDW is overpriced...when we were thinking about going on vacation this past January, DH & I were looking at other places besides WDW(gasp..I know can you believe it?), so I started checking out Mexico, some kind of all inclusive place. Well Mexico may be cheap hotel & food wise, but the airfare was just stupid expensive, plus most places were booked solid. And it would cost more than WDW in the end

So I check out Paradise Island in Nassua. By the time you added that up, it came to something like $7000 for a family of 5, total of everything. And they're booked solid too.

Start looking at other sunny beach type vacations...California, Miami, Caribean etc..And they all ended up being more $$ than what I could spend going to WDW.

When I go to WDW, I'm a careful spender, stay at the values, know where to eat, look for discounts & codes, etc. If you know where to look and research things, disney can be the same , if not less, than other vacations.

I agree with the sense of newer attractions being "cheesy." Mr Toad was a vintage ride which should have been cherished as the treasure it was. To me the Pooh ride looks like it's temporary--cutouts till they get something permament in place.

I just experienced the Pooh ride for the first time, and the whole time all I could think of was what the Mr Toad ride looked like! All they did was re-paint the scenes! You can't tell me that Disney does not have enough money to totally renovate the space to make it a completely new ride. Thank goodness I had a fast pass, becaue I really would have hated to have waited over an hour for that experience.

Just to inform you, I have a co-worker who lives in a trailer. And I can assure you, she would never be considered "trash" at all. She is a dedicated hard worker who has more sensitivity, honesty and grace than anyone I know. She is truly one of our most cherished employees.

As you can see, I am appalled when I hear this expression. I like to think "Disney" embraces everyone and believes that everyone is important and worthy, no matter where they live, what their occupation is are or how young/old they are. :flower:

I try to embrace change, and I know there is something for everyone, but I have a few. :earboy2:
Imagination- signed the petition that brought back figment, yeah, still just not as magical as the original.
Toad- not a Pooh lover, nothing more to say there.
MGM- althought I typically spend less time at AK, appreciate it for the sheer beauty of the tree. MGM, just disappoints. Sound stage....... backlot tour, again at one time very intersting......... hunch back was great, very broadway.......... and please don't get me started on the lack of counterservice there. Fantasmic is trully amazing, Tot catches your breath, but I agree, the magic is missing, slipping............
Thanks for listenting!

They brought back Figment. But less scenes of him and no more Dreamfinder. :(

I don't think they initially dropped the ball, but I have to agree with many that MGM needs a serious boost. Tower of Terror is my favorite attraction in all of WDW and so I will go there, but aside from that and RnRC, there isn't much of a reason to go there. Plus the fact that the two rides are basically right next to each other and screw up the traffic patterns and crowding in that one area. The flow (or lack thereof) is awful.

I also hate how difficult it becomes to navigate the parks when a parade is happening. It's like you can't get in or out and there are no alternate pathways.

Certainly all the MGM bashing is warranted, but you should at least understand why the park has such significant “issues.” For those who sense that the design of MGM in general seemed rushed, unplanned, short sided, simplistic, and with mediocre attractions, these insights are all very accurate. When Universal announced their plans to open a park in Florida in 1990, Disney recognized the importance of maintaining the visitor base and scrambled to not only provide guests with a similar park, but to open it before the competition in 1989. Sadly, the resulting physical plant does not provide easy opportunities to improve the basic framework. In contrast, Universal carefully addressed not only what worked (and what didn’t) with their California operations but also left logical outlets for future expansion. The differences are apparent at most levels. For MGM, although new additions with RRC and ToT have helped—and are on the periphery of the existing park, the usage “flow” is still restricted by a inadequate initial physical plan.

I also think the food in the American Pavilion is a sad representation to the other culinary delights to be enjoyed in neighboring “countries”—although the food in China is pretty much the same as our local Chinese buffet for 4.99 (6.99 on Friday and Saturday when they have crab claws. . .)!

I find it strange that they don't have Lilo and Stitch at the Character Breakfast at 'Ohana. Should be a no brainer. :confused3

It does seem rather dumb not to have them there, doesn't it??

Actually, that is an old "wives tale". WDW DID have MGM on the table well before Universal. When Universal announced their project, WDW pushed MGM to the front and did open early. Even so, it's been open for over 10 years, and it's STILL a 1/2 day park.

You are right .
Also I think it was much better when it first opened.
Loved the events they had with the stars, The back stage tours... etc....
It just seems to have really gone down hill.

Sounds Dangerous - not as good as it could be - good concept, poor execution

Cheers

I agree. The term "trailer trash" is offensive and I reported Musky's post as a bad post.

I don't think Musky was being serious, but rather sarcastic. :confused3

I agree! I loved it when it first opened. Now, I'm not so sure.

This is all so interesting to me. I hadn't been to MGM prior to 2002 - I have no idea what it used to be. I just know that I do enjoy it now, but I do think it could be "more." I'd love more insight into movie-making. And - I'm in the major minority here - but I kinda like the big blue hat. Sorry.

I went to MK and Epcot a couple of times prior to marriage, but I don't think I've seen the former version of JII, or the Mr. Toad ride. I just know that my girls really like both JII and Pooh as they are now.

I do remember the Tapestry of Dreams and I really think that should be brought back.

I think AK has potential also, but needs more. Adding EE will help, but it needs a few more attractions thrown in. Not more stage shows - other animal-based attractions of some sort.
