Where do you stay?

Where do you stay when you go to Disney. i can't make up my mind between a Disney Hotel, because it's, well, DISNEY !! or staying off-site.

we are organising a family holiday in April 2011 for 8 of us and will be staying in a villa for 2 weeks but 4 of us have decided to have an extra week but not in the villa. i'm going to the travel agents next week to get some of it booked and am now stressing about which hotel to book. please let me know where you have stayed that was ncie and not too much hassel getting to the magic or where you would avoid!

Animal Kingdom Lodge!!

To be fair it's the only WDW Hotel I've stayed in, but we are staying there next trip too!! (Splitting it with GF and BLT/CR)

I cannot recommend it enough!

thanks for your relpy. i've heard it's lovely there, the trouble is all the hotels sound and look so nice there's just too much choice!!

What we did this trip wasgo and look at every single Deluxe Resort so we better informed for our next trip!

The GF impressed us greatly, so that is on the list and the BLT location is an absolute winner for MK lovers like us.

AKL stole our hearts though and we jsut don't want to revisit and not have a couple of nights there, it really did feel like home!

We either stay at the Royal Pacific Resort or the Hard Rock hotels.

We normally stay offsite (Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress last time) but are at Saratoga Springs this year - the huge money off and free dining plan for August made more sense than not!

we've stayed at all star movies and loved it there, cheap and cheerful. It is a bit tight on space but we were never in the room that long. last time we stayed in a cabin at Fort wilderness and this year we are staying at the beach club. We would stay at a value or moderate if we fitted in them but as we are a family of 5 we don't.
I think the best idea is to go with what theme you like the best and how much money you are willing to spend. my kids favourite is the all star movies just because of the huge statues, it just screams disney to them.

I've only stayed onsite and I'm planning on doing so again this year. As we don't hire a car, it makes the most sense for us.

we stayed in the all star sports and we loved it, it was really easy to get everywhere. we did have a car but it was still handy for when we wanted to go to downtown disney and have a couple of drinks. The rooms may be a bit on the small side if 4 people are staying in there but it was perfect for the 2 of us

Used to stay off-site (Int'l Dr), but thanks to the free DDP our last 2 trips have been on-site. Pop Centuary 2007 - great hotel and facilities and Old Key West 2009 - again great hotel and facilities. Would stay at either again, but if could afford would choose OKW purely for that more relaxed feeling!

we have only stayed onsite at disney but love all the hotels

we have stayed at all stars, pop century, port orleans, polynesian, coronado springs and this year we are staying at saratoga springs.


The only ones i would not stay at again at all stars as we much prefer pop century as a value but there are some great deals around for saratoga and old key west for this year so you might be lucky and get them for next year

As a family of 5 off-site was our best option.
Last stayed in a condo in Kissimmee. Trying suites at LBV this year so we will see how we get on. Thankfully the suites has a full kitchen

Stayed 2 nights in Hard Rock Hotel at Universal. We all enjoyed this, but a couple of nights was long enough with us all in one room.

All our visits are listed in my signature.
You need to decide what you want the hotel for, do you want a big fancy pool? would you prefer a fridge? will you use internet inroom every day?
Personally I prefer offsite, somewhere around Lake Buena Vista area. Fairfield Inn, Country Inn & suites, both have a fridge inroom, free internet access and breakfast if you want it(we rarely do) usually pay £20-30/night.
Onsite stayed at ASmovies, will never stay in a value again, even though others love them we don't get the value resorts, basic and busy, rather be offsite.
AKL, nice for 2-3 nights if you get a savanah room but I couldn't pay that money for a full holiday, many do though.
OKW, great value at £100/night in August with 47% disc & free dining for upto 4 people but would never pay the full rate of about £190+ for room only.
As you see I think Disney resorts are overpriced unless I get a deal.
There are many that won't stay offsite and many won't stay onsite, I don't care, wherever I get value for money.
Onsite has some extras like free parking, offsite other extras.

We have stayed both on and off site and prefer being on site as you dont feel that you are ever leaving 24/7

Also staying on site you get free parking at the parks, if you are driving, or if you are not you get transportion to all the parks without charge.

We have stayed at AKL, GF and we are going to SSR this year as we like the idea of having a kitchen and 2 bathrooms, as DD is taking her boyfriend and dont feel that one hotel room would be good for us.
