I just put some of the stuff away for the kids. We have storage issues in my house and nosey kids. Last year we figured out a good stash spot. We have a bar in the family room, but we end up using it as a catch all storage space. We put their gifts into a couple great big suitcases and then put the suitcases behind the bar. They never even suspected.

Do you have a really unique stash spot?

Yup...in the middle of my kitchen.
My kids are not nosey though. I can hide things almost in plain sight..and they don't notice.

One year..it was all under the kitchen table, under the tablecloth.

Another year...it was under the 7ft air hockey table that they were getting for Christmas...we told them it was a borrowed table for Christmas dinner. :lmao:

I know one year they will get wise...but until then, I have fun seeing how far I can go.

When our son was a baby/toddler we had a camper. I used to store it all in there. Since I had the only key on my keychain they didn't have a clue. (dd is 7 years older than ds so it did matter that Santa hid the presents!)

In October my mom would stuff garbage bags with newspaper and make us carry them to the basement. As the time grew closer she'd switch those bags out. I remember asking her why she was saving newspaper and getting some talk about gas rationing and newspapers that made no sense, but figured it was because I was too young to understand. LOL

not very original. I wrap them and store them in my closet.

BUT to understand that, you need to know that my closet is the size of a regular bedroom with 2 sections, the people that built the addition to our house must have had some serious clothes! I have all sorts of things hidden in there that no one will ever know about  They never go in there. Its a scary place.:rotfl2:

I have 2 spare bedrooms upstairs that no one ever goes in so some stuff goes up there, other stuff goes downstairs behind the bar.

DH says that we should just toss them into their rooms, the mess is so bad they would never notice!

But they are in a little used closet upstairs that is full of junk and there are tons of things piled in front of the door. They could never get into it even if they wanted to.

DH has already decided we're putting a lock on the laundry room door for this purpose.

He said he knows his child will be a sneak and they won't be doing laundry by the age we'll still be hiding presents.

Only he would already be planning for this ! ;)

We don't have to hide presents, except from each other.

This is why God gave me an office at work.

I don't have to hide the presents any more, but places I used to hide them...in the attic (you needed a ladder and a screw gun to get in it), the trunk of the car (until the car was hit in the middle of the night and the presents were strewn on the front lawn 1 week before Christmas), and at the neighbor's house (they had no kids).

Ya know...maybe I should swap with my neighbor...she has boys...I have girls. I think it would be interesting to see the kids faces if they snooped. Barbies for the boys, transformer for the girls.:lmao:

We like others have storage issues on our house however we keep our luggage in our closet so that's where they go.

In the laundry room in a box. They figure it out.

My little poop of a teenage daughter just informed me a few weeks ago that she knew she was getting a laptop last year for Christmas because she found my hiding spot. I would be mad at her but I found my presents every year when I was a kid. Like mother, like daughter.

This year, I have wrapped her presents and put them on top of our kitchen cabinets. We have crown molding and you can't see them.

However, one present was too tall so I wrapped it and put it under the tree without a name on it. She asked who it was for. I told her we haven't decided yet. We were waiting to see which of our kids ticked us off the least amount over the next few weeks and they would get the mystery present! :rotfl: She just gave me one of these  and walked away.

Hide it in their closets...they'll never think to look in there:lmao: :rotfl2:

DH is the world worst snoop. I have to change my hiding spots yearly. This year it's the bottom drawer of our dresser (which is my shorts and summer clothes).

I have the bins that I store my Christmas decorations in that after I decorate go into the garage, I have found that those bins are the best place to hide stuff!

It's not particularly unique, but the man that we bought this house from made use of anything resembling wasted space and built storage there. Where the hot water tank is in my bathroom he built a cabinet that goes all the way to the ceiling. There is room in the lower half to store things in there by the tank itself (that's where I keep the extra leaf to my table and some other things) and above that it is a separate area with its own door. It is about a four foot cube. That's where I stash the Christmas presents. They might be able to get up there, but it would be really hard to be sneaky about it and besides that I need a chair to get up there myself, so they'd have to be pretty creative building their tower of trouble. :rotfl:

Right now they are in the trunk. Usually I put them in my walk in closet BUT my 16yo fessed up and said every year she goes through the closet to see what she is getting. I think I will bring them to my office and keep them there.

used to keep them at work. at my parent's house. hid a car in our neighbor's enclosed building. trunk of my car. i used to find my gifts and would unwrap them. (this was back when tape was easier to peel off without ripping the paper) my parents never knew until i hid my kid's gifts at their house. i just assume my kids do the same.
