I dislike this song a lot.

and here's a spooky thing. I'm listening to the radio as I'm reading here. And just as they started to play this song, I saw this thread. :scared:

OMG, I just heard it a few minutes ago in the car on my way home and literally laughed out loud. Had no idea before this thread, the level of hatred people have towards this song. Who knew? :confused3

Too funny - the song was playing on my Christmas channel JUST when I saw this thread and clicked on it. In fact, I clicked "skip" before I even read the thread! It's OK but occasionally I find it annoying.

OMG - this thread popped up while Dis'ers are listening to this song three times over the past couple of years. What are the odds?!

It isn't my favorite Christmas song but I like it. If you write "Yesterday" and the majority of the second half of Abbey Road you get a pass on just about anything but I don't get the hate of this song. It isn't supposed to be groundbreaking, he's already done that, it is just fun.

The Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End medley is a masterpiece!

It's no where near my favorite, & I would even put it in the "dislike" category.

However, I rate it above "So This is Christmas" & far above "Christmas Shoes".

I know, right? I can't believe that a happy, joyful Christmas tune is more disliked than those two downers.

My first zombie reply.... dont like the song but it woukdnt be Christmas without hearing it!

Not a fan of the song, too much repetition.

And I’ve never heard the word “dreck” until today.

Resistance is futile. Everywhere I turn I hear it.
Never was a huge fan of solo McCartney.

When my husband and I were newly married, we lived in a small apartment in Cooperstown, NY. The fire company liked to spread holiday cheer by playing Christmas music over their loudspeakers, which were located right outside the window of our 3rd floor walk up. I could not get away from this song (it's worse at higher decibels) and more than 20 years later, I want to scream and run away as soon as it starts. In fact, I'm going to exit this thread because now I can hear it playing in my head!

..right up there with Wham! Last Christmas and All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey

I love both of these...especially All I Want for Christmas, I use that song in my Xmas display outside.

As for Wonderful Christmas time, I absolutely hate it. As I posted in other threads, I'm a Xmas decorating/music junkie, but this is one of the very few songs I will change the channel after I've heard it once. One of the only Xmas songs I like less is Happy Christmas by John Lennon. I can't even listen to that one once, it's horrible. Then again, I don't really care for anything Beatles or solo work from the members. Not my cup of tea.

I like those, too.

:tiptoes away furtively:

I know everyone loves them. On the regular Christmas station, those are literally every other song. Last Christmas is just cheesy. All I Want for Christmas isn't a bad song, I'm just over it.
I can only listen to the Holiday Traditions XM station...40s-60s or my Elvis Christmas album. I avoid all those "contemporary" songs that way. (And I'm in my 30s, so I'm not even old)

I have SiriusXM as well. I'm one of those who will flip like crazy. Traditions is OK, but sometimes it'll play stuff that's too sappy/slow/traditional for my taste. Holly and the new Hallmark Channel are OK too, but they'll play oddball stuff that, while I really will listen to just about any Xmas music, isn't my favorite. For example a modern country singer doing a rendition of a classic. Nah, not for me. So I flip around like crazy looking for stuff I like more, which is mostly well established classics which could be from the '30s all the way up through the past 10-15 years or so.

I do wish I could find a channel that plays parody songs...some of them are hysterical. The Twelve Pains of Xmas is another song I use in my display.

"Last Christmas" is definitely cheesy but for those of us who like the cheesy 80s nostalgia stuff, it hits that spot.

It's easier for me to list the Christmas songs I hate: "Christmas Shoes" and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer." That's pretty much it. "Grown Up Christmas List" is pretty close, but I can tolerate it. I guess my bar's pretty low on Christmas songs.

Hate it, one of my least favorite Christmas songs...right up there with Wham! Last Christmas and All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey

I swear our local Christmas station plays Last Christmas and All I Want For Christmas is You every hour. EVERY HOUR. I used to like these songs.

I can't even deal with Sirius for Christmas anymore because everything is so finely categorized. I don't want to listen to JUST ONE GENRE of Christmas music at a time, I want to listen to all of them. Dish Network used to have a Holiday Traditions station that was more varied in what they played, but even that has declined over the years. That's why I gave up on all of it a few years ago and started using Pandora. I can pick all the different Christmas stations I want and shuffle them. And skip songs I don't like.

Oh yeah, and I hate Wonderful Christmastime.
