Where do you keep your laptop at WDW?

I can never fit my laptop in the safe so leave it on the desk. I chain it to the desk using a laptop security cable

:scared1: :scared:!!!!! I will be very careful! Does it automatically cancel if you dont' accept to renew the period, or does it keep running until you cancel?

When you accept, it allows you access for 24hours only. After that, you will have no connection, unless you go back in an accept another 24-hour period of internet access to be added to your account. So, even if you left the cable plugged in the entire time, as long as you did not accept the debit to your account, you would be fine. You would have no internet, but you would be richer!

The joys of DVC and not having to worry about using at 10pm one night and before 10pm the next night! Although this tends to be me now any time we are in the room --> :surfweb:

Me too,:rotfl: Saves me from Hannah Montanah and co though!! DD can watch Disney channel on our breaks and I go on the internet, plus it gives me something to do when I wake up at 5am in the morning.

Just been Goggling the subject, that seems to be what the majority of posts say, hotels are not liable if they offer a saftey deposit box or safe, Your responsibility.
I am sure they will have it in the T&C's somewhere but can't see it.

That's all very well but if your laptop wouldn't fit in the safe what are you supposed to do. I'm not sure a hotel could get out of it's responsiblity for your belongings just because they've provided a safe - we never use the safe - again perhaps we're very naive.

Found it in Disney's T&Cs
Anyone familiar with the Paris Convention 1962?

(iv) Where a claim (whether for personal injury or non-personal injury) arises out of loss or damage suffered during the course of hotel accommodation, our liability to you will be limited in accordance with the Paris Convention 1962. A copy of this Convention is available on request

This seems to be the text of the Paris Convention 1962
Anyone fancy trying to work out who is liable?
A quick read near the end seems to suggest the hotel is liable only if items have been deposited with them but its quite complex but I don't have time to study it.

Don't most hotels have a safe at reception that you can use to store things? I would assume that if you could not store something in your room safe, you would have to take it to the reception safe, at which point, the hotel would be liable for anything that happened to it. Otherwise, it is your responsibility to secure it, and therefore no one else can be liable.

Not sure what would happen if it was stolen from an in-room safe... guess it would be the same as if it was from the main safe, since it had been secured. lol Now it's just getting far too complicated! :rotfl:

I don't necessarily think I would call you naive - I just tend to err on the side of caution. For me, I just don't want to lose what I have on here. Also, I took this laptop out on a 24 month mobile broadband contract, which will be less than halfway through by the time we travel. Won't take the dongle obviously, but nonetheless, having something disappear is not only expensive, but time consuming and annoying - more so if it could have been avoided. I am curious to know what the laptop security cable is/looks like. Now it may be me who is naive. :rotfl2:
