..when you just need"food"?
we are staying at ssr, and am not overly impressed by their menu- we did POR last year, their choice was much better but the seating area was too small, but could consider going back for food next year.
what im looking for is info on where you went to grab food, rather than get the "whole" disney experience, may be late at night as kids were hungry, somwhere that wont over stimulate my disabled child?
i have pencilled in a few meals at both WPE and EOS (our fav last year and ds liked it there so could be an escape clause!!
can you recommend cs places, pref out of parks (ie at resorts) which are worth the effort to go to? he loves resort hopping so all recommendations welcome...
ps he likes GOOD food!!
thanks

We really enjoyed the Boardwalk bakery. The catch to it is there isn't any indoor seating. But we had a beautiful morning and sat out at one of the tables on the boardwalk and people watched and the kids just played around. It was very relaxing and the food was good.

If you're at SSR, you can always hop over to Downtown Disney. They have a McDonald's there, and EArl of Sandwich is always a favorite for everyone I've heard.

I agree with the PP about hopping over to DTD for food. Also, my DH and I really like the Turf Club. We stayed at SSR in October and the Turf Club was never crowded. They have burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. It is a table service restaurant, but it's not the whole Disney experience or anything - more like a neighborhood pub.

Also consider Wolfgang Puck Express, which is near Earl of Sandwich. We ate there last time. I wanted to try their Mac and Cheese and ordered a side of it instead of a huge bowl then paired it with a salad. Nice meal.

Earl of Sandwich is good and grownups can get a beer or glass of wine if you are so inclined.

thanks for the ideas, love the idea of the bakery, hey a girl has to have cake:rotfl2:
DTD is a good plan, as i said ds loved EOS last year, we are going to try Ghiradellis for the first time this trip to...
anymore ideas guys..?

When we were at SSR, someone put pizza delivery coupons on our door. We did not order from it but we saw them in the parking areas a few times so I am sure some did. We bused it over to AKL and ate at Boma and then viewed the animals from there. :thumbsup2 We have also got the picnic in the park from AK and used it for that evening at our resort.

We do both, love the Earl and sometimes you just need Mickey D's french fries!

You are just a hop skip and a jump from OKW, Olivia's has really good turkey sandwiches and burgers for lunch, very casual family atmosphere. OKW also has CS by the pool in case you want to pool hop. If you have a car, take a left at Crossroads and Chick-fil-A is on your left hand side just a little bit down the road.

In some cases, those pizza delivery coupons have been a scam to get your credit card information. I would never call a number on any of those flyers placed at your door......look up a number of a local pizza place in the phone book, or on the web if you have access.

Disney is aware of the problem and has occasionally issued warnings to guests about the flyers.

We love the CS options from the monorail resorts like the Poly has a great chicken lo mein or BBQ pork sandwich, the GF has an amazingly tasty pizza made to order and the cold cut sandwich was wonderful!

We love the taco salads and muffalettas from POFQ and you cannot go wrong with WPE and EoS.

Since you said you like to resort hop and are looking for counter service. The Pepper Market is CSR is very nice. I also hear good things about the counter service at the Poly (Cap't Cooks??). You can get Dole Whips for dessert at the Poly counter service.

One Pizza delivery that is not a scam is Giordano's, they have a website. They deliver to SSR & OKW and they have the best deepdish Chicago style pizza along with the thin kind. We have at least once every stay! There are several threads on Giordano's great pizza!

Thanks Lynne for telling me that! :scared1: I had no idea but thankfully did not try to order. I shouldn't be surprised but I am. :confused3

One of the best local pizza places is Flippers. They have good prices, great pizza, and deliver to the resorts. They also have a location right outside of DTD (by Goodings) if you have a car.

On property (but not in the parks), we like WPE, Captain Cooks (POly) and the Mara (AKL). We do like POP, but I wouldn't travel there just to eat!

Off property, but relatively close by if you have a car, we like Sweet Tomatoes, Sonny's BBQ (but someone said they closed???), and Pollo Tropicale.

The food at Artist Pallett at SSR is good and you can ask for other stuff it is not just what is on the menu. They also have a fairly large seating area. Also the Turf Club at SSR is rarely crowded and the food is good. POFQ has lots of seating at their food court and the beignets and icecream cookie sandwhiches are excellent. Food is pretty good also. The Mara at AKL and Captains Cooks at the Poly are also good choices.

thanks for your replys guys, some good ideas.
as we are on the ddp, ill be trying to maximise that and avoid oss site and mcds, we ll do this the week we are staying off site!
its interesting to know you can get other foods at ssr that are not listed
thanks for the advice, i think well hit the bakerys (mk and bw) for cakes etc if he loses the plot,
thanks for your help
