Where do you go for a little peace and quiet?

Another vote for Tom Sawyer Island, there are many nice quiet spots to take a break there. I wish aunt Pollys still sold fried chicken!

Try taking the path pass the boats and monorail at MK.. Walk to the end of the path to the benches. You have a great view of GF, the monorail, the lake... and... it's quiet!

We love the peace and quiet of Tom Sawyer island in Mk. In Epcot, I love the gardens in the United Kingdom.

Reflections of China. Not the actual movie but the waiting area inside the temple. There are some art exhibits and seats and it's nice and cool. You can come and go as you please and don't even have to go into the movie area once it starts, you can just sit and relax.

I didn't know the actual rocking chairs were apart of the DSA, I just thought right in front of that was the DSA but it doesn't matter either way because the smoke is right there.

Yep. I'm fine with Disney offering smoking areas, but it seems like every time we go, another one of my quiet areas has been turned into one!

Out in the garden area there is good as well. There are some benches near the wall, and the only foot traffic is people doing the Agent P Adventure, who tend to show up, do their thing (which is fun to watch but quiet), and move on.

As mentioned, the museum exhibit in Japan is good. I would also recommend the one in Morocco, along with the little courtyard (Fez House) in Morrocco (although that wouldn't be air conditioned).

Most of our quiet places in Hollywood Studios are gone, but Writer's Stop might be worth a shot -- used to be pretty quiet, but it's small and may be mobbed with all the quiet seekers who've lost their other options! Offseason the display room where you wait for the movie in the Animation Building is usually quiet for a while right after a show starts, and never gets particularly loud before another one is going.

These are all such great suggestions! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, and even to post a video. I'm excited to slow down enough to check out a few of these places, many of which I have raced past countless times to get to the next ride. Lots of collective wisdom here that we can all benefit from.

In Epcot - Morocco they have a "museum" as you face the entrance its to your left - if you go further in, on the left is a "courtyard" of a home in Morocco - the museum opens up to the courtyard - there is a door you enter, its very quiet and peaceful in there - DD was studying Morocco at school and was very interested, we wandered in and there happened to be a "CM" and he was interested in what brought us inside - and then he proceeded to give us more information on the building of this exhibit!

Aunt Polly's porch on Tom Sawyer's Island. Actually, all of TSI! If you want a serious break imo there is nothing better than AKL-Jambo. Lots of quiet viewing areas inside and out. The boat rides between resorts are a nice break. You can hop on one at MK or HS too.

Yes, I discovered this last trip. My husband and daughter went exploring while I sat in the rocking chair and put me feet up on the stool in the late day sun all alone. Some nice music and peace and quiet. It was absolutely lovely.

The beach area at Fort Wilderness in the middle of the day may be the quietest place I have ever spent at Disney. Other than the Friendship Boats going back and forth which are virtually empty that time of day, there was hardly anyone around the day we took a walk back there, and that was in June.

  • We visit Olivia's at OKW nearly every single trip---even when we are not staying nearby. It's such a peaceful retreat, as is OKW generally.
  • Sitting out back at WL behind the Trout Pass bar, looking out over Bay Lake, and watching the boats go to and fro. This might be a smoking section, but no one is ever there.
  • The boat trip (Blue Flag, I think) between WL, Ft.W, and CR.
  • The walking paths between WL and Ft.W.
  • I was at CSR for Marathon weekend; the walkway around the lake is lovely, and was never busy even though the resort was sold out.
  • The rocking chairs on the porches in Frontierland. This is more "people watching" than a "quiet getaway" though.
  • Tom Sawyer's Island---the porch down by the water that used to be a simple QS place.
  • The tables down by the water behind Flame Tree BBQ.
  • The Tune-In Lounge, as long as it's not a peak meal time.

I'm always able to catch a nap at one of the pools. The background noise of kids screaming is like having the tv on at my house...LOL!

Every trip I find a new quiet corner to relax in, just wander into the less beaten paths. Some of my favourites:-

The boat dock at Wilderness Lodge (ignore the lines for the boats, there is a bench at the end under the covered areas. I've seen some gorgeous sun rises down there).

The benches behind Ye Old Christmas shop in Liberty Square. Peaceful most of the time despite its proximity to Tiana's meet and greet area.

Seating area in Big Top Circus at Magic Kingdom. It always seems to be deserted back there, or you can walk the quiet path from just by the Fantasyland train station over to Tomorrowland. Another easily missed area that you always feel like you have to yourself

I'll add another vode for Tom Sawer's Island too. So peaceful even if the raft over is jammed.

At Animal kingdom take the train out to Rafiki's planet watch. You might even meet some new animal friends.

A few other quiet areas in the MK:
  • The area around the Frontierland train station can often be pretty quiet.
  • The side alleys on Main Street can be surprisingly quiet.
  • Top floor of the Columbia Harbor House in the off eating times.
I'll try to think of some more.
