We live in AZ and always drive.. But I am going a few days before my hubby.... where do we have him fly into that is closest and is there a closet airport and also is there shuttles like at WDW?
Lori

Closest airport is Orange County/John Wayne. They have shuttles available. I think I paid $10 last year. I don't know if there is an official Disney Shuttle but they do not have Magical Express like WDW. I always use Super Shuttle.

oh I just booked with hojo for our trip and they suggested john Wayne as well.......I think it is a good choice. I found one way's for only $69!!
Awesome!!

There are 4 airports. John Wayne (aka SNA or Orange County) is the closest at about 12 miles, but check your airfares, because it's usually the most expensive. Long Beach is 14 miles, so nearly as close, and often much cheaper. It's small (you deplane with stairs onto the tarmac, not by jetway, how fun is that?:thumbsup2 ) but nice and convenient. You can take a cab from either of those airports at a flat rate of $40 one way. Super Shuttle is quite a bit cheaper from SNA, $10 as opposed to $30, I believe.

Ontario is about 30 miles away and often fairly cheap; LAX is about 35 miles away, often the cheapest, huge, and ground transport is expensive. Although I think you can get the Disney Express bus fairly reasonably priced from there.

We always fly into Long Beach. Its small, easy to navigate and not packed with people like LAX. We always have Harolds limo service pick us up.

I'm new (First post to you..woo!) but I flew into Long Beach a couple years ago and LOVED it. It's so nice and easy to navigate cuz it's smaller. Less expensive too.

We're flying into LB again this year!

Guess it would help to not leave your thread open and walk away for a while before replying :P

69 rocks! I think on the way there we got 144 and way back was 69 for us

There is an official Disneyland Resort Bus from John Wayne/Orange County Airport and LAX - the 2 routes are served by different buses. It's really inexpensive and operated by Grayline Buses.

The cost is $14 one way/$24 roundtrip for an adult; $12 one way/$16 roundtrip for a child, plus tip.

Here's the link to a $3 off coupon - I found it on MouseSavers website.

I haven't taken them myself in years (since I moved here to the LA area), but I used to be a weekly business traveller out of the LA airports and would do a non-stop option like that over Super Shuttle. With Super Shuttle, you get loaded up with other families and have to make several stops to drop them off. Plus, some of the drivers can make you a bit queasy....

Have a great trip!

Thank you, I am keeping this in mind

Thanks YellowMickeyPonchos (love the name, btw). :goodvibes

I will totally be utilizing this!!!!! :woohoo:

(We're flying into LAX...using ff miles, and US Airways doesn't fly into OC.) :rolleyes2

Jet Blue fly in to Long Beach airport, and they have really good prices. We are flying with them in October to Long Beach.

LAX is the cheapest from my house.... Now that Aloha Airlines went out of businiss we don't have a direct flight to SNA. :(

OP
I am considering driving from my sister's house in Paradise Valley to DL. Is it a difficult drive? I understand that it takes around 5 hours.

TIA

Well I live in North North Phoenix, Almost to Anthem and it takes us from 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 hours depending on traffic and potty breaks....
So it should be the same for you...

But tickets going into John Wayne Airport seem so resonable it may be ok to fly. A shuttle is 15-20 minutes away some have said from the hotels. That is not bad at all!
