Where do you eat meals at home?

I recently rearranged my living room/dining area. I got a new couch, moved the TV, got rid of the second couch and in doing so was able to put back my dining table. I was talking to a friend and said I was able to eat meals at the table like a civilized person. He said that most civilized people probably eat sitting in front of TV. So that made me wonder....When you are eating a meal at home where do you eat it? At a dinning table? On the couch in front of the TV? Does it change if you are eating alone vs eating with someone else or when your children were younger?

We have dining room - never use it 🤣🤣
We have a nice open area with a decent size table ( sits 4 very comfortably ) we eat there - upon occasions will stand at kitchen island and eat - I do have stools but no peeps stand on other side of island and eat - rarely eat in living room - but you can see the TV in all above areas Except the Dining Room - which may be why we don’t use it ! 🤣🤣☹️👍👍
If I’m alone eat at kitchen table
When I was a kid all meals at kitchen table period !!

Breakfast is usually on a chair in the family room in front of the TV. DH is usually up an hour before me, but I think he eats it in the family room too.Lunch and dinner if it is just DH & I is at the kitchen table. If we have company meals are at the dinning room table.

My DH and I don’t have kids and for the most part eat lunch on the weekends and dinner most nights on the couch or a chair in front of the tv. A lot of times my DM joins us for dinner as well. Once in a while for a special occasion or holiday we eat at the dining room table. For breakfast I usually eat my bowl of cereal and drink OJ standing at the island. For lunch during workdays I usually make my sandwich and grab my granola bar and yogurt and take it upstairs to eat at my work desk.

It's usually just DH and I and even at that we often don't eat at the same time. Supper is always on the couch in front of the TV. If DS every graces us with his presence at meal time we eat at the dining room table and of course it's at the table when we have company.

I do regret ever getting into this habit though. I like the idea of family (however large or small) meals at the table; we just got lazy. I would consider it to be the "more civilized" way.

I always eat at the kitchen table with my family. Dinner is the time where we all come together and share stories about work, the news, and anything else going on in our lives rather than watching TV. We recently got a new kitchen table so now it's easier for all of us to fit as our old one was small.

It's just me and my DH and we almost always eat dinner on TV trays while watching TV. It's funny because we ate dinner at the dining table tonight (first floor is open concept and there is just a dining table, no separate kitchen table) because we had crab and that gets a little messy and requires more space. I commented that I would like to try and eat at the table at least once a week just for a change and because I think it is a little nicer.

DH and I eat at the kitchen bar.
When the grand kids are here, like now, we eat at the kitchen table which seats 4.
When the family is here for lunches and holidays we eat in the dining room
which seats 8

The kitchen table. Dining room is used only about 3-4 times per year (usually holidays.)

I have a breakfast area with a retro round table and chairs. If it's just me and DH and DD, we eat at that table. If the rest of the family comes over, we at at the dining table.

Kitchen table. Probably really depends on your family situation -kids, ages, etc.

Monday - Saturday is at the kitchen table.

Sunday is pizza night and we eat that in the family room while watching a movie.

We are now empty nesters and we will always eat our dinners as I described - nothing will change

When my husband and I were dating we ate in front of the tv. When his young kids started coming to visit for meals, I felt we should start eating at the table. We have been doing that ever since. Once in a blue moon we might eat in the family room, but it’s not a habit.

We (DH and I) eat at the kitchen table over 90% of the time. No TV. If I’m alone, sometimes will sit at the kitchen counter (peninsula) or in the living room watching TV. Once in a while, and when we have guests, we use the dining room table.
