We're doing the Fantasmic dinner package in the late afternoon so we plan to have an early lunch in the park. I'm thinking about Sci-Fi but I also don't want to spend too much time eating instead of touring. My kids are 3 and 5.

Where do you like to eat?

We like to eat at Sci Fi or 50's Primetime. It is always nice to relax in the air conditioning and I think these 2 restaurants have some of the best theming in disney.

Pizza Planet has remarkably good pizzas and salads for a great price, comparatively.

We do Sci-Fi for desserts and pay about as much as lunch at Pizza Planet.

We've done Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time, but we'll be doing Sci-Fi this trip. We reeally liked 50's PT, but DS (now 6) didn't really "get it" and enjoyed Sci Fi much more. I think kids enjoy Sci-Fi more, 50's PT is more entertaining for adults.

Thanks for the input-

The kids would probably enjoy Pizza Planet. We won't be taking our usual break back to the resort in the middle of the day so Sci-Fi for dessert will fit into the plan. We'll go for dessert sometime before the parade at 3:30pm.

We ate twice at Sci-Fi on our trip in July and LOVED IT...I know they don't get highest ratings on the food value, but we certainly enjoyed the atmosphere! Even now 2 months later, we are still singing, "Beware of the Blob!" :bounce: Also enjoyed 50s Primetime, but we thought Sci Fi was better for the kids (5 and 1)

we like BD but don't think it would be very exciting for little kids...th UG recommened the Dipsite for steak sandwiches ( not on the allears menu but it's the 05 book) so i think i'll try it next trip

just mho but we had such along wait at scifi with ps( in jan at an off time, around 3:45 since we went from the parade to scifi ) then a longer wait yet for a bowl of soup for me and a burger for husband i'd never waste that much time just for dessert! ( over 2 hrs total!) the food was nothing great and cost a bundle but if i was going to go for the atmosphere, i'd at least call it lost time and get a real meal..

We love Sci-Fi for lunch. Great burgers and shakes and a really fun and unique atmosphere!

We've now tried all the sit-down restuarants at MGM and like Sci-Fi the best. I think it's pretty good, fairly quick service too. JFYI, this is what we thought about the others.............

Brown Derby---4 people ate there, 4 people had awful meals. Don't need to say much more.

Mama Melrose--"OK", there were 3 of us and we only liked one of the entree's, but mostly I think we didn't like how crowded and noisy it was. We're really NOT picky eaters either.

Hollywood and Vine---would eat there again, nice buffet, but that's it, "nice buffet", nothing special.

50's Prime Time--this is probably the one I should try again, it's been quite a while, but I really don't remember anything remarkable except is was cute.

Our whole family seems to just like the atmosphere and food, especially the shakes, at the Sci Fi. If the line wouldn't have been so long at the Pizza place this July we'd have tried that. The pizza's looked good.

We are just two adults but we like to eat in the Brown Derby. Last year we ate out on the patio ~ we had a fantastic time and the food was so yummy.

We are a family of 2 adults. We like to eat lunch at Sci-Fi. Great milkshakes, burgers, and atmosphere.

I did not want to eat at Pizza Planet and had picked out somewhere else to go. When my DS (he 4 at the time) saw Pizza Planet that morning while touring the park, he said that he REALLY wanted to have lunch there. The food was just okay, but DS loved it. At the end of the day, DS said that his highlight of the day was that he got to have lunch at Pizza Planet. Needless to say that made it worthwhile! ::yes::

Ok, here goes, just two opinions:

The dipsite was mentioned previously as having good cheesesteaks and I have to agree with that. After smelling them for days I convinced my family to try them. YUM! We got two sandwiches and one of their BIG bags of chips for 3 people and had more than enough.

Also, the ABC commissary isn't bad. I like their Cuban sandwich, but I always switch the plantain chips for fries and split it with someone. Their kids meals with chicken nuggets are also a good value. My grandmother got that twice on one of our trips!

We always avoided Pizza Planet because I've never liked the pizza at WDW, but we tried it last time on a whim and I loved it! The meal deal with the side salad was nice and the pizza was actually good. Now it's one of our favorite places for lunch!

We'll be eating lunch twice at MGM this time, once will be a counter service, which I'm sure will be Pizza Planet for my 3-yo Toy Story fan, the other day we have a PS for 50's PTC. Haven't eaten at either, so they will be new for us.

We've always gone to Pizza Planet (I really like the pizza there and the atmosphere is just fun). This time we will try 50s Prime Time.

This probably won't help you much, but we try to avoid eating any meals at the Studios. For sit down, I've tried 50's Prime Time Cafe, Sci Fi, and mama's. They were all ok, nothing special. I really don't care for any of their fast food, the ABS Commissary has some decent choices but terrible (IMHO) atmosphere. So my advice is, pick whichever everyone else seems to agree on or tickles your fancy that day!:D
