Where do you dine when visiting Magic Kingdom?

Although I love Magic Kingdom, I love the restaurants at Epcot. Does anyone know whether it would take too long to travel by monorail from Magic Kingdom to Epcot for dinner? How much time would you leave to get to the restaurant?

Where would you recommend dining (for one sit down meal credit) while visiting Magic Kingdom? My husband and I are looking for a romantic or cool atmosphere. We have no children (thought we share childlike wonder :wizard:).

Eat at a resort Wave, Ohana Poly, GF, California Grill etc. Try the Wave for romantic and one meal credit!

Tony's Town Square is a nice relaxing meal for 1 credit. We were able to walk up on our last trip no problem. DH had the NY Strip and I had the Lamb Shank. However, the highlight of the meal was Lemon Walnut Layer Cake...mmmmmm!

We have done just about every TS in MK multiple times as we do the Deluxe Dining every year. I much prefer Epcot TS options as well (and HS for that matter), BUT I would rank the MK TS in this order:

1. CRT (2 credits though)
2. Liberty Tree Tavern
3. Tonys
4. Crystal Palace (NOISY though)
5. The Plaza

So if you plan to stay in MK and only want to use one credit, I would go with either Liberty Tree Tavern or Tonys!!

I have to say, the Plaza is one of our favorites. While we have three children and love to do the character meals, a nice respite from them is the Plaza. The food is decent, the atmosphere quaint, especially if you don't have kids and you are right next door the ice cream shop. Plus, often you will have the Main Street actors and actresses popping in.

But, kids or no kids, the Castle is lovely (and romantic) any time of the year.

Oh yes, as pp stated, LTT is a great choice. I personally would choose LTT over Tony's. I love Thanksgiving style food anyways and the colonial theme is a nice touch. :thumbsup2

I'd head over to the Contemporary and eat at The Wave. You can either take the monorail there or walk....it's only a 5-10 minute walk depending on how fast you are. Depending on the time of day, it may be quicker to walk than to wait for the monorail. Besides, the walk might be a good time for a little hand holding before you eat. We have dined at The Wave twice now and enjoyed it both times. Our servers were great and the food was yummy!

You can take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT, but you have to take 1 monorail to the TTC and another from there to EPCOT, which can be time consuming. If you really love the restaurants at EPCOT better, then I say it may be worth the time to go there. We normally end up eating half of our TS meals at EPCOT on each trip we take, so many of the restaurants there are favorites of ours as well. ::MinnieMo

My WDW vacations are as much about the food as anything else, and I truly dislike the food at MK. I always eat at one of the monorail resorts on my MK days. Plus, it makes for a nice break. Besides, I can't get a glass of Magicale at the Magic Kingdom :rotfl:

What a hidden gem. I had the salmon, and have to say it was hands down the best salmon I have ever have, and we are from Oregon. Whole chunks of garlic. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Hubbie had a seafood pasta dish, oldest daughter ravioli's and the youngest spaghetti. Everyone raved.

It wasn't crowded or loud. We had one of our best DW dining experiences ever (and we are heading in August for our 6th trip and always have the dining plan).

I also had the Lemon Walnut Layer Cake....you can't eat it without making yum noises. Excellent choice.

I used to leave and go to Kona but the last couple of times I had lunch at The Wave and loved it.

To the OP, should you go to The Wave it might faster to walk over to the Contemporary. It's located in their lobby next to the Lobby Concierge desk and the walkway will take you right into the lobby.

None of the MK options are great, but I wouldn't leave the park just for dinner. I actually enjoy the Plaza, for reasons mentioned by a previous poster.

For 2 adults, I would walk over to the Contemporary and try the Wave. We had dinner there in December and loved the restaurant and experience.. It was 7 adults and everyone really enjoyed their meals. I had a filet mignon that was really tasty. And the dessert was great as they have sample plates where you get to have tastes of 3 different options. I plan on returning on my next trip.

We like to eat in the park we will be at or at a resort closest to that park. We also like all of the restaurants in MK, some more than others. With that said I would suggest going to either Tony's Town Square, LTT (like it more for lunch than for dinner), or if you want to have a really great experience but is 2 credits, eating dinner in the castle is really cool. If you want to go on the monorail to one of the resorts, Kona Cafe is great and we really like California Grill (again 2 credits if on the dining plan since this is a Signature restaurant). Another restaurant that we really like and is really fun, but have to take a boat to get to from MK is Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. Hope this helps.

We are also two adults with childlike wonder and we would also leave the MK for a resort restaurant for dinner. although the atmosphere at Kona isn't particularly romantic, the food is good and strolling around the Poly is enjoyable. The GF Cafe is also a good option. both are a quick monorail ride back to the MK.

I love the Plaza and LTT, but at .east one day on ly next trip I'm heading to the Grand Floridian Cafe for one of their incredible steaks. It's rather quiet and dignified without being stuffy. Take the boat there and the monorail back for quickest trip.
I've also gone to WCC a few times and love the skillet, but there is no way that place is romantic.

If I can't leave MK, I would go with the Plaza. Other than that I would leave and eat at one of the MK resort restaurants. We like Artist point in the WL.

Wave,GF Cafe,Kona all are really good and on the resort monorail.TTS is good too but it's tricky to order, look at food pix first.
