Where do you consider the most romantic place to get engaged at WDW?

I know I have read of an engagement that happened on the Grand 1 Yacht and of a package that CRT either offers or used to when you got engaged.

I know I have seen guys popping the question on Main St or in different countries during fireworks.

But where did you get engaged that was an incredible romantic experience or would you reccomend?

I think having dinner in the cinderella castle would be very romantic. They could even help you arrange it for you by maybe putting her ring in a glass slipper. They do have a restaurant there right in the castle, check it out.

The only reason why I don't like the castle anymore is because it is filled with little kids - and impossibly hard to get a reservation. It used to be by far my favorite.

I always cry when I see people proposing in front of the castle - its soo happy!

I think you read my Grand 1 experience.

Other things I have heard about is the carriage ride around port orleans. The dolphin swim thing at epcot.

Does she have a favorite character? For a few hundred you can rent that character to join you for private dining or a sailing.

If she is more sophistocated then go for one of the upscale restaurants. Victoria and Alberts is classic. The California Grill is great because of the view/fireworks.

Tell us about her - then we can recommend something really over the top.

I didn't get engaged at Disney (he proposed at the Eiffel tower) but I have been out on the Grand One Yacht during Wishes and I think that would be so romantic. It is by far one of the best Disney memories we have and it was a night we will never forget. We had dinner at the California Grill and then went down to the marina where the Yacht picked us up, it was a surprise. Then we saw Wishes and had champagne.

Is there a place with any special meaning to you?

I agree that the castle would not be my first choice because of the kids. We had dinner in the castle in October and it just didn't do anything for us.

On the balcony of the Beach Club overlooking the Lake and the Boardwalk!

It was so special and intimate.
Plus being in our room it was great to be able to relax for a bit!

By day...she is a General Manager of a large full service hotel.
Professional all the way---suits, heels, make-up, hair done everyday.

Her motto in life, is to keep things "simple but elegant"

Her favorite food is ice cream. Her favorite characters are Mickey and Minnie and Eyeore.

By night, she is the girl next door---jeans-t-shirts---helps kids with their homework, tosses a football with DS and likes to teach DD how to cook.

Weekends are time with the family; movies, cleaning house, relaxing, having fun and going to church...oh yeah and running errands, the never ending errands!

When she does something, she does it fully...if you don't believe me check out our TR from September...she has over the top Disney OCD if I ever seen someone with it! But it was great, definately a trip of a lifetime!

She loves special things too. Like when I surprised her and took her to NYC to see Phantom of the Opera. Rented a Limo, bought her a new dress and took her to a 4 or 5 star restaurant (Smith and Wollensky's). She was blown away by the night! By the same token, she likes simple things too...like when I asked her to go to a Couples Retreat sponsored by our church...she was again blown away by that!

Her ideal proposal would be to take a walk in the woods to a waterfall where she first knew she was falling for me and the kids...I'd like to do something a little more...she's got a very down to earth side of her...yet she always likes things to be nice and done properly.

We have been talking about getting married in Disney complete with a Dessert Party in one of France's arms and a Wishes Cruise on the Grand 1 Yacht. And then going to DLRP for our honeymoon (tying it in with an 18 day European Tour of 6 different countries). And yes, we will definately try to have dinner in the Eiffel Tower...we heard it is wonderful!

Our next trip is in just a few weeks for a quickie, 1 week trip to WDW (awesome deal...too good to pass up) and then in December we are going for a full 2 weeks and surprise the kids (wake them up and tell them to move it or they'll miss the limo to the airport!). This trip will also be over her Birthday and she was told whereever she wants to spend her Birthday at, is fine by me..V&A Chef's table...okay or Peco Bills...okay. It's whatever she wants that day! We'll leave the kids with Kids Nite Out, they did a great job in September.

But I don't know. I'd like to really surprise her and have it be very romantic...but I'd just like some ideas...if anyone has any. Thanks for your help!

V&A's, especially the chef's table, would be super romantic if you think she would enjoy it, I am sure the staff would help you out with a surprise. Where do you think you would like to get married at Disney? Perhaps propose there? Then it will have an extra special meaning when you get married. You can pack a knapsack with some champagne, glasses, etc. and a blanket and sit on the Poly beach and watch Wishes from there and then walk over by the Wedding Pavilion.

Where are you staying? Perhaps arrange an in-room dining experience and propose after?

You can also have the room decorated for when you return after the proposal with rose petals etc.

An Illuminations cruise would be romantic is she likes Illuminations.

I am sure there are so many things. You'll figure out the perfect idea.

If she likes nature you could go to Ft. Wilderness and rent a canoe or kayak and spend the day, maybe make a picnic. Or horseback riding. They also have a campfire at night.

We got engaged by the wishing well behind the castle at WDW. It was very romantic! My DS who is 9 managed a pretty good picture of the proposal.

Ok heres my opinion. If she knows so much about disney - dont' do anything she has ever heard about or knows of. If she knows about the grand 1 and V&As it won't be as special of a surprise.

I would try to recreate the wood and the waterfall and have mickey minnie and eeyore there - that would blow me away.

I would try to work with disney to do something totally unbelievable.

Have you guys been to fort wilderness? I really like Skylarr29's idea. Could you go for a horseback riding and end up some place really special.

I feel like if you don't have a huge budget - I would do it in front of the castle either during one of the dream shows or wishes. Thats always special even if it is a bit predictable. If you do have a larger budget I would call disney and tell them this is what you are planning to do and ask what they can do with it.

Another fun thing might be a private safari tour before the park opens? I know there are waterfalls there...

Another really cheezy waterfall idea would be to jump on the jungle cruise either at night or in the morning and arrange it so that you just happen to have the boat to yourself. Wait until they get to the joke about the backside of water under the waterfall and ask her there. You have the rest of the ride to yourselves. Then plan dinnerfor after that at someplace casual but fun. Maybe the Cali grille so you can see the fireworks.

I feel like if you take an idea thats simple and add the characters - it would make it a huge surprise. It would really make me happy. =o)

BTW As amazing as the view is from the top of the eiffel tower - the food is really really average and very over priced. I haven't been in a few years but my little sister was there with her bf last week (springbreak). I got an email today about how disappointed she was with it.

You mentioned the waterfall - there is a "secret" trail that goes behind the Tree of Life in AK that leads to a mini waterfall. The trail is hardly used (not a pass through) and extremely quiet. You'd have the waterfall on one side, and river on the other...
The entrance is right before the bridge into Africa on the right hand side.

Oh yes - those trails around the Tree of Life are usually deserted and very romantic! :lovestruc Just don't hang out near the exit of It's Tough to Be a Bug at the end of the show! :rotfl:

If you're doing it on the fly, the CMs will usually help you out. Like, if you let them know you want to propose, they'll give you a boat/car/log to yourselves. And PhotoPass photographers seem to love to help out too! You just have to find a way to sneak off and set it up.

I think that right in front of the castle is the best place. Also CInderella's Wishing Well, which is right near the castle. I just love the castle so that's why lol.

While I would have loved to get engaged by the castle, I would not have wanted my proposal to be public. Some people really love the attention, others (like me) would have hated it. So somewhere secluded and private would have been vital.

So I think planning the perfect proposal really depends on knowing the person and their preferences. I think if it's at all possible I would try to have someone three to photograph the moment, though. It goes so fast and the pictures are priceless! (When people ask about my proposal I have to say that "he said some really nice things" because I don't remember a word of it!)

EPCOT, during the food and wine festival...right as the finale is ending and the song "We go on" begins...make sure you are all the way on the other side of the World Showcase...so everybody can go away and you two can be left across the water staring at Spaceship Earth with a nice view and some of the most beautiful, romantic music you could hope for in the most magical place ever...if that doesn't bring a tear to both your eyes,..something is really wrong :) :goodvibes

Hello

I got engaged inside CRT it is really hard to get a reservation there but DFi did it direct with them (I think they save some seats for the engagement)he still has the email address if you want it he also has an email address for a special events. I can PM you the address if you want.

I think the most romantic thing about a proposal when it is a real surprises when they have no idea. I had no idea we were even eating there I tried every day to get a reservation here and it was fully booked so i really didnt think we would be even just eating there

If you go to a nice Dinner at Narcoosees, then the whole resterauntcomes out on the deck to watch Wishes, then (heres the key) everyone else goes BACK IN and then teh electrical water parade goes by! Nice litle private moment just after wishes!

There is also a little dock behind Narcoosses where you can watch wishes & the EWP and you could propose there (thats where my DF did! :))

But the Polyneisian has a beautiful view of wishes too, and you could walk up to Sunset Point to watch! Then perhaps on the way back to the hotel, when you pass by the waterfalls....... that could work, and would not require a ton of cash!

You have to come back after and tell us how it went and what you picked!
