I'm off to buy dog food at Petsmart. I usually just buy it at the grocery store, but I need a couple other things.

Where do you usually buy your pet foods? If you buy at a pet store is it for better prices, quality food or do you just like to bring your pet to the store?:teeth:

I buy at petstore. I prefer the premium dog foods, at 1st they seem more expensive, but the dog tends to eat less, therefore buying less frequent. Also, their poop tends to be firmer and goes away faster. Less gas too. Too much info., I know, but you asked. I have also heard that Costco's brand dogfood (Kirkland, I think) is a premium dog food labeled for Costco's use. I may try that next. I think about a 40# bag is $18.00 or so.

eats Lamb and rice Purina One for puppies.......this is a very good brand and her poopies are perfect.....this is the type of food we used on our other dalmatian jasmine....Our vet said that this was a good food for her and the equivilant to iams...so we will stick with it...we also can get it at Walmart.....my other HOME....hahaha

I order my dog's food from Flint River and have it shipped to my house, 40 lbs. at a time.

We use Wal Mart's Ol' Roy brand. Our dogs like it just fine. No problem in the poop area either. We stay away from canned food and scraps from the dinner table. Though they do get the occasional steak bone.

Our dogs supplement their diet on rabbits when they can catch them.

PetsMart. He likes to go shopping with me, plus I feed him good dog food - they don't carry it in the grocery store. The prices really aren't bad, either, BUT, Harley isn't a big eater =) He only weighs 3 pounds. So it's not like I'm buying in bulk.

We shop at Costco and get 80-100 lbs at a time since we has 3.5 dogs.

I too use Petsmart, I think they have a great variety and my dog loves going there, I also have her groomed there, and now there is a vet's office in there also which has some great hours. I also find that their prices are lower than supermarkets, and although sometimes Walmart is a "little" cheaper on somethings I really don't go there to often since I tend to spend to much! I also like Petsmart's policy on the animal adoptions and how much they donate to animal charities.
I feed Pedigree and have for years, I also was in greyhound placement for many years and always recommended it when we placed a greyhound in a home.
My cats like Fancy feast or Friskies........I know some people swear by the premium more expensive brands but I will also say that my cats live to be OLD......I have one that is 20 now and just buried one at 21 and 17. The 3 others in the house are now 4/8/13 so I don't think what I am feeding them has hurt them.
Anyways I love Petsmart!

I am a PetsMart lover, too. We recently attended a potty training seminar there wtih a trainer, which is free every Sat. They were tired of seeing so many dogs turned over to the pound because they couldn't potty train them, so they stopped charging for the seminars and offer it to anyone. Harley had his first puppy groom there, and I was very impressed with them. We start puppy preschool there next week, signed him up today actually, because I LOVE one of their trainers. Each time I have gone up there, he's given me great advice on leash training, collars, food, etc. Ours had a PUppy Pawprint Party awhile back, that was free, and you could have their pawprint made, given a free picture frame, and have their picture made.

I also love their return policy. We bought some breath mints, but of course it didn't say how big they were on the box, opened them up, and they were HUGE. Harley couldn't even begin to eat one, so we returned them open and no problems. Same goes for food, anything that doesn't work out.

Ours is very clean, open, wide aisles and very friendly and helpful employees. We also have a PetCo and it did not impress me as much, though we have gone there on occasion, I am sticking with PetsMart, at least here. I know they probably change by store.

Didn't mean to sound like a commerical for PetsMart, sorry!

I usually go to Petsmart. I really do not like Petco and the "independent" pet supply store near me sells the same food way more expensive than it is at Petsmart and they sell puppies. I don't buy things from places that sell puppies.

(edit to say, unless I know for certain that the puppies were hand chosen from local breeders. I do not know of any pet stores near me which do that. It's pretty rare).

I like Petsmart too. My brother adopted a kitten from his local Petsmart; that chain helps a lot of shelters get pets adopted. :teeth:

Pet's Mart because that's the only place around here that sells Nutro...PetCo sells it, too, but PetCo is smaller and more crowded than Pet's mart.

Milo, our Corgi, gets prescription Science Diet from the vet.
