Where do you buy your girl's clothing size 7-14

My daughter is almost 9

Wal-Mart (strictly for undies, socks, play clothes and swim wear)

Target for casual wear as they carry nice sun dresses and swim wear

Gymboree for casual wear, but only when they have a big sale
Crazy 8 is our new favorite as they just opened one at our mall. I particularly love that they carry size 9 and don’t jump right from 8 to 10.

Children’s Place for casual and dress wear

Dillard’s for dressy dresses

JC Penny for school uniforms

I am so glad that I am not the only one who thinks that:
1. Quality of my certain brands has gone downhill this past 4-5 yrs
2. Girls age 7-16x clothing are getting trashier and trashier..short short, short skirts..

I have 3 girls and that is a challenge..

I have 3 girls 11, 8, and 6 most of their stuff comes from target, wal-mart, Kohls (limited) , Justice, Gymboree (mainly the 5 yr old) and JCPenneys- I like penneys, target and gymboree for the youngest one, my 8 yr old is super tall and skinny she likes justice and penneys because they have jeans and shorts in the slim sizes, oldest wears a size 3 so she is into aeropostale, and american eagle - made that jump this winter. boo.

Just wanted to add that I'm another one. My daughter is 5 1/2 and has been in size 7 since last summer. She's really tall and I have a hard time finding stuff that doesn't look risque. I do most of my shopping at Gymboree, The Children's Place, Old Navy, Gap... but I'm going to check out some of the others listed because the kids in her school dress up a lot and I have been sending her in wearing jeans and t-shirts most of the time! Sad, since right now she LOVES frills, the more the better!

Considering that children are getting bigger and bigger, you would think that this issue would be addressed so that 5-year old can still BE 5-year olds. I had the hardest time finding a cute, frilly bathing suit for her for our upcoming Disney Trip! She wanted the frills, but it's very difficult to find in sizes 7+!

Garnet Hill has some really cute bathing suits this year. We got a couple for DD, and seems like they fit really well. They have more of a little girl style, than you see in some places. We've had some issues with the Gymboree bathing suits, they are fine on dry land, but once DD is in the pool, they seem to really ride up. The best ones she had last summer were from Target, but the selection this year seems to all be tiny bikinis at our store- and I'm not putting a 6 year old in one of those.

DD won't wear jeans and T-shirts at all. She hates jeans. She loves being dressy and frilly. She isn't crazy about even wearing pants or shorts. She wants dresses and skirts. Hanna has a lot of cute dresses that you can throw bike shorts and leggings under and wear for casual or dress up and that even work for DD on gym days. She really likes their short skirts that have shorts built in under them too.

Gymboree, Janie & Jack, Crazy 8 (not bad for play clothes), Lands End, CWD, Wooden Soldier (for dressy stuff), and Hanna Anderrson.

Crazy 8 is my evil favorite place. Great quality and wayyyyyy cheaper than Gymboree, even though I love my Gymbo clothes too! Especially since I earn Gymbucks from dd#2's Art Class at Gymboree.

My DD turns 6 next month too and she is going into a size 7. My problem with her is, she is super tall but skinny, so I have to cinch the pants as much as I can so she can wear pants that don't look like waders. Plus I agree, so many places the clothes look way too mature for her. Good luck!

My DD5 will be 6 in May. She is between a 6 and 7 now, and I have been buying her 6x and 7. She is a girly girl. All frills, pinks, and poofy!! She likes the skirts, tutus, dresses and such. I have discovered PS Aeropostale which is Aeropostale for kids(girls & boys). The clothes are not risque in my opinion. I also shop at Childrens place, target, and walmart. But PS Aeropostale has become our FAVORITE. I can't believe she is at the age to give input on what she likes to wear. That is fine with me as long as its not too suggestive or revealing. :)

Honestly, you are probably not gonig to get much more mileage out of the smocking. We started phasing that out in 1st grade. I you want to keep dressing them younger in the bigger sizes you are going to end up spending a fourtune on boutique brands to do it. Places like Kellys Kids, Tiny Town, ect. I get plenty of things for DD8 that are perfectly age appropiate at kohls, target, old navy, children's place, gap kids, ect. Tehy are not frilly lacy or smocked, but are not waht I cann "tiny teen" studff either. I don't see the problem with letting kids grow out of smocking, Jon jons, applique jumpers, ect when they hit "grade" school. WE just shifted gears to a more tailored look for dress up events. It doesn't mean you have to dress them like teens. There is a happy medium out there if you are willing to look for it. We have to work for it, but we are selective in the pieces we choose, and end up with a nice wardrobe that is age appropiate without being too babyish for DD. As much as I would like to, I have accepted that I cannot keep her a baby forever.

I would still think Dillards or JCPenneys would work for what you are wanting.
They just don't make the cute, little girls clothes anymore.

But to answer your general question: Target, Penneys, Justice, Children's Place and Disney Store.

My oldest DD (who will be 10 soon) has always been tall but slender for her age so it seems like she is always in between sizes. My go to places for clothes for her are JC Penney's, Old Navy, Justice, Crazy 8, and Target. I also shop at those same stores (excluding Justice) and the Children's Place for my other kids.

Really, you've gotten this far without input? Lucky you! We hit that phase at age 2. From the time she turned 2, there was no way DD was just going to wear what I pulled out or told her to wear. She had definite opinions- on color, style, comfort, etc. By the time she was 4, I hardly ever bought her clothes without her seeing them first. If I did, it had to be someplace that I could return them if I got them home and she hated them...because if she hated them she wasn't going to wear them. Any attempt to get her to wear something she didn't like was a huge battle. In the pick your battles theory, that was not one worth fighting with my strong willed child.

We have pretty good luck with Penny's but my daughter is a middle schooler. I always found Kohls to be a bit "junior teen" and won't spend Gymboree type money dressing a kid who is going to tear the knees out in a week.

And yeah, I'm not sure how far you'll get with smocking before the peer pressure kicks in. There is a big range between "future bride of Warren Jeffs" and "streetwalker." I think you can find a lot in it. Of course if you live in Short Creek, then the smocking is completely appropriate and your neighbors are probably a better source of where to get clothes than us here.

Childrens Place and Justice. Middle DD is very slim so when certain things at CP run wide, I buy a couple things at Justice. We're modest dressers and haven't had a problem shopping there :)

Ditto this! This completely describes my 8yo. I used to love Gymboree clothes and then DD turned 5 and refused to wear them any more. She was so excited when she turned 7 and could finally fit into clothes at Justice. Not my favorite store, but they do carry slims, which DD needs. She hates jeans and leggings (too tight) and it's hard to find knit pants once kids hit size 7. Have had some luck at Children's Place. I think the styles change so much when you hit size 7 because most 7 year olds and older don't want cutesy clothes any more. We avoid anything too grown up for DD, but at Kohl's and Target I can usually find appropriate styles for play clothes.

My opinion differs from some. I think Crazy 8 has poor quality. It shrinks like crazy! Love Gymboree. Childrens place is good and so is Target. For some reason we only get pj's at Khols.
