I have bought mine from Current (now Checks Unlimited) for as long as I have had a checking account - over 25 years now! ;)
I usually buy 4 boxes at a time and they usually last about 2 years.
The last 2 times that I have bought checks it cost me $29 (including S&H) - I just use basic checks with none of the "frills."
Today I went to order checks and the price for the same checks that I have been using is now $39 (including S&H) - about a 33% increase!
So I am wondering if I can do any better at any of the other check printing services.
Can anyone recommend any places that they deal with and are happy with their quality, prices, and service?

Thanks! :)

I have the Mickey Mouse specialty checks from Checks Unlimited. They are a little more money than regular checks, but they're so CUTE! ;) I used to work at a bank, and standard checks ordered from the bank cost $14 and some change per box.

I used to buy from Current, but for the last several years, I have been getting them free from my bank.

I use Bank of America nad have Advantage checking, so I get them free:D

I'm trying to remember the name of the company, but it's another one of those mail-order companies that always has those ads in the Sunday papers and coupon mailings. We just order Sesame Street checks -- they're pretty cool. :)

They're free from the bank, but now they've limited us to the "non-fun" checks. So I'm also thinking of ordering elsewhere. I like the ones I have now - Humane Society. :D

Are you sure Checks Unlimited is the same thing as Current? I still get the mail order slips from both companies. Anyway I buy mine from Checks Unlimited (Disney checks.)

Yep, Current and Checks Unlimited are the same. It happened several years ago. 2 years ago I ordered from Checks Unlimited, but 4 years ago I ordered from Current. And they are the same checks.

checks unlimited might be a part of current but i don't think they are the same. i still get current catalogs.

we don't use checks anymore, but when we did, we ordered from current.

For some reason Current Checks separated from the Current, Inc and became Checks Unlimited.

From the Checks Unlimited website:

Located in Colorado Springs, Checks Unlimited is set between the towering Rocky Mountains and the expansive Colorado plains...Established in 1986 as the first major direct mail check printer, the company, then called Current Checks, was founded to offer an exceptional value on high-quality checks.

Current - the card and stationary company still is in business - they just no longer sell checks. :(

Caity - you have piqued my curiousity, how do you get along without using ANY checks?

We used the company the bank recommended. Can't remember what, since it wasn't typical. I've used Current, Checks in the Mail and the bank itself in the past. I like pretty checks, even though it's really a waste of money (seriously, who really looks at your checks??)

Oh, and if you do online banking, you wouldn't be using many checks. We have DH's school loans and car lease set up for automatic payment, and we have that option with many of our other bills.

I order mine from Costco.com I remember searching around and they were by far the cheapest and the checks are great! My banks checks always rip when I tear them out.

beth, we pay everything online/taken out of our account automatically or use cash or our checklink card. :teeth:

actually, we probably do have a checkbook somewhere, but really we haven't used it for more than a year.

I just signed up to do a lot of on-line bill paying katercat, so I hope to be using a lot less checks. :)

I am going to check out all of the places that you all recommended.

THANKS! :)

CASH??? What the heck is CASH??? ;)

And we HAVE to use checks sometime. Our DD's school does not accept payments from a credit card? Can you believe the NERVE??? (Actually, I DO wonder sometimes how people can make cash payments on tuitions and R&B totalling $17,000 a semester when their children receive no aid?)

Ever since our bank offered a debit card, and now a VISA Debit card, our use of checks has really gone down. And now that I am going to do a lot of my bill paying on-line I expect to use even less. But there are still a few things that I would use checks for - our church offerings for example. But if you do all of your bill-paying electronically, and use a debit card, I could see how some people could get along with never using any checks.

maybe that's why they don't get any aid!

It's been so long since we ordered checks that I'm not even sure where they came from! Ever since we started using Online Banking - the number of checks we write is down to about one every 2 or 3 months.

I think I had to write one to pay for our Christmas tree back in December, before that I'm not even sure. :)

colorful images also sells checks. They have some cute designs

We pay our daughter's college expenses in 10 monthly payments through Tuition Management - and they DO accept credit cards! Our Discover Card cashback bonus - which is doubled by certain companies (usually Borders or Red Lobster) - has been great lately. :)

We have used Current/Checks Unlimited checks for years - but also tried Artistic Checks: http://www.artisticchecks.com/jsp/SiteNavigator.jsp
